Review: Aussie disco don Dr Packer has been Glitterbox Recordings' go-to remixer for some time now. Three years ago, the label opened up its archives and allowed him free reign to rework whatever he wanted, releasing the results as Dr Packer's Different Strokes. This belated sequel follows a similar blueprint, collecting together a wealth of remixes as well as a couple of non-stop DJ mixes of the same material. Much of the music is authentically disco-centric - think organic instrumentation, swirling strings and rushing vocals - with just enough grunt to please those dancefloors the require 21st century low-end weight. Highlights include a glassy-eyed take on Aeroplane's 'Love on Hold', a sing-along version of Lemelle's boogie gem 'You Got Something Special' and a handful of fine rubs of the Shapeshifters.

Luke Solomon - "Light You Up" (feat Queen Rose & Amy Douglas - Louie Vega Roots mix) - (9:10) 123 BPM
The Lab Rats & The Experiment - "Music Is My Way Of Life" (feat Lisa Millett - The Lab Rats Present The Experiment/Lab Rats Main Experiment) - (8:11) 125 BPM

Review: By now, we should all be aware of Ron Hall and the Muthafunkaz "The Way You Love Me", a 2006 soulful house treat that really started to dominate dancefloors two years later thanks to Dimitri From Paris's disco-fired "T.S.O.P" rework. For this edition, the storied Parisian producer has delivered a "Glitterbox Retouch" of his now legendary remix that's arguably even more satisfying than his previous Philadelphia International style re-rub. Arguably even better is Tom Moulton's new "Philly Regrooved" revision. This 13-minute beast contains all manner of superb instrumental solos (vibraphone, jazz guitars etc.), takes nearly five minutes to introduce the vocals and feels like the definitive version o a contemporary disco classic.
Review: Following a host of releases with his Sunburst Band, Z Records boss Joey Negro is back to perhaps what's he's best known for: spinning light and soulful disco house. This second in the series kicks off with the handbaggy "Smile" by Mistura and take in thumping diva business "Every Day Of The Week", sublime techy house "Life Is So Strange", unsullied authentic disco "Power To The People", acid-jazz on "Better Things To Come" and the phaser-heavy, electro-boogie of "Begun To Love".
