Review: Making a welcome appearance on Houndstooth after a long-mooted link up with the label that seeks to bring out the strongest qualities in Ross Tones' primary project. "The Tempest" keeps the dramatic orchestrations and wintry conditions normally associated with Throwing Snow intact, with some considerable help from Adda Kaleh on vocal duties. "Caedis" takes a more downtempo approach rich in instrumentation and a heavy break underneath it all, while the title track wriggles its way into a concoction that bristles with the energy of techno as played out on live drum samples and dark side bass. It's all finished off with the lush orchestrations of the short ambient piece "Summus" that rounds the adventurous tone of the EP out perfectly.

Review: Throwing Snow make an absolutely inspired return here as they present two absolute stompers on this incredibly vibrant project. We begin with the percussive genius of 'Vulpine', which channels eruptive Amazonian percussion into serious rhythmic power. On the flip side we are gifted another gem in 'V'. This one is a synth driven soundscaping masterclass, expressing incredible emotive patterns and stunning sound design. Truly enjoyable work from Throwing Snow on this one!

Review: Having built up to this release through his recent work on Houndstooth, Ross Tones now finally offers up his debut solo album, magnifying the cinematic qualities in his music across 50 minutes of singular electronica. The instrumentation throughout Mosaic provides the soul to the record, from haunting string strikes to wild samples of exotic sources, while the electronic elements come on in balanced tones, neatly defined and arranged so as to make for a snug fit. There are plenty of arresting vocal moments from bewitching vocalists including Addah Kaleh on the pivotal cut "The Tempest", but it's Tones' incredibly detailed vision that makes this an unmissable album.

Review: To celebrate Record Store Day last year, Houndstooth got label regular Throwing Snow to create three VIP versions of tracks from his debut album Mosaic. While the LP was a relatively delicate affair at time, these vinyl-only cuts took the original material and brought more of the house, garage, rave and bass influences to the fore with the intention of causing maximum club devastation, and now they've been unleashed on digital. Whether it's the serrated bassline of "Maera VIP", melodic yet full bodied house of "Linguis VIP", Or big room techno sound of "The Tempest VIP", each cut still sounds as big as they did on wax.

Review: After the lauded success of his Mosaic long player on Houndstooth, Throwing Snow offers up this extended single that features some alternative musings on tracks from the album. "Avarice" gets to enjoy an extended VIP treatment injected with boxy toms in an up-for-it house style, before the more subdued slow lurch of the original follows up. "As You Fall" too gets a VIP re-rub for the floor with a Border Community fuzz about its melodic content, while Aus heads Will Saul and Komon take their UK house styles to "Hypnotise", twisting out a brooding but forthright cut for dramatic dancefloor effect.

Review: Rob Booth was no doubt the man for the job when London clubbing institution fabric was seeking the person best to perform A&R duties for their in house label. Alongside label mates Second Storey, Call Super and Akkord is Ross Tones aka Throwing Snow delivering more unmistakeably UK electronic music that the label is synonymous with. "Xema" is utterly sublime with its dreamy kalimba supported by a broken beat, throbbing bass and soaring pads. It's the perfect combination off deep house and UK bass with neat pop inflections too. "Seren" on the other hand is definitely straight up and suited for the dancefloor with its tight breakbeat riding rich, swirling analogue strings, creating a sweet electro (not electro) groove.

Review: Heralding the start of his new Snowfall imprint, Ross Tones brings an atmospheric hush to the table with his new offerings. Already it's become impossible to predict what Throwing Snow will deliver each time around, but the Autumnal mist that shrouds around "Clamor" embellishes the booming live drums (and fiddle no less) with an enchanting quality that escapes so much electronic music. "Brook" switches things up entirely with a slow, jerky house cut that favours distorted snippets of melody over anything too obvious, sounding altogether fresh in the glut of 4/4 being made at present, while "Perca" brings a more loping beat to bear.

Review: UK producer Ross Tones, aka Throwing Snow, creates haunting and modern electronic music with many of its roots firmly placed in synth productions of the 1980s. Released through his own Snowfall imprint, this new EP features four immaculately sculpted slices of fizzy, vital electronica. "Aspera" is slo-mo melancholia of the finest kind; "Melum" revisits the moods painted by Jan Hammer on stuff like Crockett's Theme. 'Lingerwell' is heartbroken minimal house and "Behest" is like warped trance, with wall of sound Euro-synths reduced to epic sludge. In a good way.
