Beware Of The Dog/Truly
Alkalino - "Beware Of The Dog" - (6:46) 120 BPM Hot
Tico Torres - "Truly" - (5:07) 125 BPM
Review: Tico Torres is officially the drummer of Bon Jovi. However it appears that in his downtime he likes to produce underground dance music. Here he teams up with Audaz boss Alkalino for a short, sharp two-track single. The latter rocks up first to deliver "Beware Of The Dog", a super cool, sultry tech-house sizzler with echoes of Good Life and the kind of ominous vocal samples found in early rave. Torres meanwhile, delivers a more wholesome retro jam, "Truly", which delivers a swinging '60s groove complete with Hammond organs.

Review: 2016 has marked the year that this shady producer has returned to his roots at the Audaz label. It may be February but he's clearly in summer mode already: "Holiday Sex" is a shuffley, beach party workout, whilst "4 Little Birds" adds some vintage Afro-funk vibes to the mix. "Feets Feeling" meanwhile is a harder, retro flute-rock stomp-a-long and "Mustang" revisits the gritty funk of 70s cop movie soundtracks.

Dead In A Second
Volume One - (10:24) 123 BPM
Silvia - (4:33) 123 BPM
Sexy Mad Sax - (4:40) 123 BPM
Share - (5:32) 127 BPM Hot
Lost - (4:48) 129 BPM
Review: Not to be confused with Bon Jovi's drummer, the mysterious Tico Torres steps up to Alkalino's Audaz brand with five hugely contrasting (but all equally stunning) cuts. There's the paranoid, warped techno of "Volume One", we then hit heavy horn samples of "Silvia" and the Derrick Carter-style "Sexy Mad Sax" before dropping back into the darkness with Brett Johnson-style glitches and jitters of "Share". Finally we get "Lost", fusing the iciness of the tech tracks and jazzy warmth of the house cuts with garage style bass bubbles, it joins the seemingly disparate dots found elsewhere on the EP. Dead in a second, alive for a lifetime.
