Peter's Platin Beach EP
Peter's Secret Weapon - (8:02) 122 BPM Hot
Platin - (9:40) 122 BPM
The Beach - (11:13) 121 BPM
Review: Forms & Figures is a fresh Dirt Crew offshoot dedicated to releasing, in their words, "restored and re-mastered classics, lost tracks and new music by Alexander Kruger AKA Tiger Skin". The imprint's debut release kicks off with a freshly re-mastered version of 2008 classic "Peter's Secret Weapon", a typically Berlin-style chunk of deep house/tech-house fusion blessed with an undulating rhythm track, rising chords and short, manipulated guitar riffs. Near 10-minute epic "Platin" (another 2008 cut) follows, beguiling via a looped and chiming melody line and dreamy pads, before Krueger offers up the near impossible to find original mix of "The Beach" - a deliciously positive, sunny and glassy-eyed saunter through deep house/tech-house fusion that's arguably amongst the producer's most beautiful dancefloor cuts.

Suol Summer Daze 2017 Part 1
Atjazz - "Programme Sunlight" - (7:13) 117 BPM Hot
Chopstick & Johnjon - "Last Night" - (6:18) 122 BPM
Matthias Vogt - "Chanterelle" - (6:51) 118 BPM

Carlo - "Got Ya" - (7:29) 123 BPM
Meggy & Tigerskin - "Bygone Eras" - (3:36) 105 BPM
Played by: Till Von Sein, Meggy
Review: With summer fast approaching, Suol has decided to get ahead of the game with an EP chock full of sweltering, sun-kissed deep house treats. Atjazz kicks things off with the rich chord progressions, lilting synthesizer melodies and bouncy drums of sunset-friendly shuffler "Programme Sunlight", before label regulars Chopstick and Johnjon serve up the similarly positive and breezy "Last Night". Elsewhere, Matthias Vogt cranks out the languid, life-affirming pianos and blissful electronics on Balearic house gem "Chanterelle", M.Ono delivers a loved-up twist on loopy disco house, and Carlo drops a chunk of bumpin', bass-heavy goodness blessed with sun-bright guitar flourishes. Best of all, though, is Meggy and Tigerskin's "Bygone Eras", a slick and sultry chunk of sun-bright modern soul.

Looking For Mushrooms EP
Looking For Mushrooms (feat Das Eb) - (7:24) 122 BPM
Tsukiji - (7:39) 123 BPM Hot
Octocat - (7:02) 124 BPM
Red Fox - (8:57) 120 BPM
Review: Dirt3000's unstoppable force known as Dirt Crew is back with Berlin local tech house hero Tigerskin, who enlists a bit of help from Grambow on the smooth and melodic deep house of "Looking For Mushrooms (featuring Das Eb)". On "Tsukiji" they go for more of an uplifting house tune complete with swing fuelled rhythm, happy pianos and bumpy bassline that'd make even Kollektiv Turmstrasse stand up and notice! "Octocat" goes for something techier, darker and low-slung; better for the afterhours and finally "Red Fox" goes for more of the hazy and esoteric vibe that'll help you drift like a Crosstown Rebels or All Day I Dream track.

Review: Alexander Kruger is still going, in a career that has spanned over a decade and showing no signs of slowing down. From releases on Morris Audio to Highgrade and Moodmusic, he's back with another one for Berlin's Dirt Crew. Starting off with the steady groove of "Faint" he soon gets down to business on the blissful hands in the affair that is "Descent" and the funky groove of "Hippies". However there's some deeper moods and grooves on tracks like "Stay" and "I Miss Chris".

Sticky Cow EP
Sticky Cow - (8:13) 120 BPM
Jankowski - (7:49) 120 BPM
Kord - (7:08) 123 BPM Hot
Review: Alex Kruger shows the depth and range of his sound on Sticky Cow. Although it only features three tracks, it feels like the Berlin producer is racing through a catalogue of sounds and nuances. The title track is a dubby, driving affair that occasionally veers into a stepping, buzzing UK bass path and then ends up in jacking mode, led all the way by clanging bells. On the sublime "Jankowski", those bells are swapped for alpine bells that could have belonged to a stray cowherd. A bigger change however is the stylistic shift, with sensuous strings and a gloriously warm disco groove featuring. Finally, "Kord" sees Kruger veer into seductive vocal house.

Review: Many happy returns to Germany's Dirt Crew Recordings imprint, which this year celebrates a decade of deep and tech-house releases. For this celebratory collection, they've decided to take a slightly different approach, eschewing label classics and forgotten gems in favour of new cuts from familiar and lesser-known artists. There's naturally much to admire, from the heavy, Soundstream-do-deep house loopiness of Yosa's "Love Me" and the surging deep house funk of Timothy Blake's "The Town is Quiet", to the woozy, Ame-ish rush of Matt Masters' "6&3 Twos". Tigerskin does his bit for the label's old guard with "Ad Lib Robot", a bouncy, soul-flecked acid jam that's one of the compilation's genuine highlights.

Molly Brown EP
Bang Alter - (6:26) 125 BPM
Home Alone - (6:22) 120 BPM
Molly Brown - (6:30) 123 BPM Hot
Pernille's Kitchen Jam - (6:58) 120 BPM
Review: Between them, Till Von Sein and Tigerskin have a wealth of experience, so it's no surprise to find that this collaborative EP is bang on the money. Each of the four tracks offers something different, too. Opener "Bang Alter" boasts some serious shuffle in the drums, as well as prominent cowbells and long, woozy chords. "Home Alone" places jazzy guitars and pianos atop a sturdy groove (think acid bass and semi-organic drums), while "Molly Brown" is a sweaty riot of incessant disco drums, acid tweakery and delay-laden vocal cuts. Closer "Pernille's Kitchen Jam", meanwhile, boasts some fantastic blaxploitation samples amongst its swinging grooves, odd chords and funk-addled bassline.

Played by: Adam Port
Review: Alex Kruger aka Tigerskin delivers a classic electro house release for Get Physical. "The Blackness" has all the desirbale elements and none of the cliched sounds that characterise the often misunderstood sub-genre. The beats are loose and dubby, the synths dreamy and the bassline lurching and repeating a few basic but very catchy notes. Add in some cowbells and a druggy vocal saying 'beware of the blackness' and you've got all the ingredients for another "Body Language". The Rhadow Meets NTFO version is recognition that not everyone is enamoured with this classic sound; it's groovier, more rhythmic and at its heart boasts a dark, predatory bassline.

Review: While Dessous may have originally laboured under the shadow of being "Steve Bug's other label", in recent times the imprint has really come into its own as an outlet for high quality deep house. This expansive 23-track collection gathers together some of Dessous' best moments from the last couple of years, throwing in a smattering of unreleased cuts from label stalwarts Vincenzo, Tigerskin and Phonique for good measure. As you'd perhaps expect, there's some exemplary deep and tech-house on show throughout, with Steve Bug's "Do It Right", Burnski's "Sometimes Takes Longer" and two superb Jamie Anderson/Owain K collaborations among the many highlights.

Review: It sounds like Alex Kruger immersed himself in disco house during the recording of Dortmund. While tribal drums and atmospheric synths power "Magic Mood", it's the drunken askew horns that make it so distinctive. On "Foxgod", Kruger integrates sensuous strings into a filtered groove. While "Searching" marks a return of sorts to his electro house past, as a grinding bassline underpins a dreamy vocal, there is no doubt that the closing track, "Back On Yesterday", will gain most of the attention. Kruger again uses a breathy vocal line, but this time underpins it with an uplifting, rolling disco groove that is destined to become an anthem!

Daniel Zuur - "Future Memory" - (6:38) 118 BPM
Zoutman - "River Ride" - (8:43) 126 BPM
Review: The common factor on this split release is a love of electronic melodies. It's clearly audible on Estroe's version of Examine's "33 Stand Alone", where crystalline synths and layered breakdowns are powered by a sinewy groove and heavy claps. Qbical's dub version of Tigerskin's "Morons We Are" is even more infectious with catchy vocodered vocals underpinned by filtered synth lines and incessant percussion. Meanwhile, Daniel Zuur trades on nostalgia with "Future Memory". Although based on a stripped back rhythm, the melodies are inspired by the heyday of 90s European trance, and are guaranteed to emit a spine-tingling response from veterans and first-timers alike.

Review: It's sexytime down Dirt Crew HQ, as the esteemed German label gathers together a selection of deep house cuts guaranteed to get you staring lovingly into the eyes of your nearest and dearest with the pie-eyed look of a post-orgasmic teenager. As you'd perhaps, there's plenty to stir the loins, from the discofied grooves of Plamn D'Acqua (the "Midas Touch" biting "House Orchid") and mellow moods of Nick Harris to the ultra-deep, lingerie-sporting slinkiness of Soul Minority, the Tortoise Orchestra and Iron Curtis. For those really sweaty moments, there's even an acid-flecked excursion from Mdione. As for the money shot, try Dirt Crew's own "Deep Love".

Review: The first audio missive of 2011 from Germany's Dirt Crew finds the label in good form, offering three positive house cuts from regular collaborators Tigerskin and Till Von Sein. Lead track "Sirene" is particularly optimistic, building a quietly uplifting deep houser via some gorgeous chords, snappy percussion and good use of background party noise. "Looking So Good" continues the party-centric theme, fusing P-funk guitar and synth samples with hectic percussion to good effect. "U Never Know", meanwhile, offers the best of both worlds, hovering between classic deep house territory and sweaty percussive grooves for eight breathless minutes. Solid stuff all told.

The title track combines super funky, nu-house beats with a soulful musicality and a powerful vocal performance from Zoe Xenia. Perfect for summer, the lead track also comes with the deeper and more reflective "Carlos' Thoughts" and the Tigerskin ass-shaking styled "Eyewitness" that comes peppered with horn stabs, spooky atmospherics and dramatic crescendos.
