Review: The first audio missive of 2011 from Germany's Dirt Crew finds the label in good form, offering three positive house cuts from regular collaborators Tigerskin and Till Von Sein. Lead track "Sirene" is particularly optimistic, building a quietly uplifting deep houser via some gorgeous chords, snappy percussion and good use of background party noise. "Looking So Good" continues the party-centric theme, fusing P-funk guitar and synth samples with hectic percussion to good effect. "U Never Know", meanwhile, offers the best of both worlds, hovering between classic deep house territory and sweaty percussive grooves for eight breathless minutes. Solid stuff all told.

Review: Given that they've produced some of the most interesting house music of recent times, it's no surprise to see Kollektiv Turnstrasse and Erdbeerschnitzel handling remix duties on this latest Till Von Sein release. It's the latter who provides the highlight, turning in a cultured, sophisticated rework of "Tilly's 61 Rhodes Jam" that's as jazzy and smooth as it is loose and languid. Kollektiv Turnstrasse's mix of "Blueprint", meanwhile, is reliably deep and groovesome, with their cultured musicality to the fore. For those looking for a touch more energy, there's a decidedly ravey, late night techno take from SLG that will appease late night dancefloors.

Review: Having operated on the fringes of deep and tech-house since the mid '90s, DJ booker-turned-producer Till Von Sein is finally ready to drop his debut album. It's hugely entertaining, deviating from his usual club-friendly deep house style to take in a myriad of styles and influences. While a smattering of piano-laden deep house grooves remain (see "Sumthin Good", "Monday" and the low-end heavy "61"), the German producer also finds space to include excursions into springy disco ("Ltd"), sleazy jazz breaks ("Out of Love"), Detroit-influenced early techno futurism ("Non Existent Love") and smacked-out downtempo blissfulness (the post-dubstep influenced "Neptune"). Well worth checking out.

Review: Guy Gerber's Supplement Facts imprint reaches it twentieth release by welcoming the fast rising Till Von Sein into the family. The German producer has made a string of impressive releases over the last few years but the warm and summery, groove based "Sundowna" looks set to finally demand the attention that his productions deserve.
The release opens with the playful, yet deep and groovy original version by Von Sein himself. An array of drums, shuffling chords and sweeping pads join the child-like vocals to add the fun whereas the deep rumbling bass and warm synth parts bring the sexier element to the track. Supplement Facts combine the old and the new for the first of three remixes by asking label hero Dyed Soundorom to join label newcomer Shonky to rework the track. The result is a more club orientated version which immediately finds the swing of Shonky's signature sound but merges it with the rumbling basslines sub bass of Dyed Soundorom. The remix continues to builds throughout the constant groove until chords and filtered pads crash into the mix at once, creating the perfect club moment.
New York legend Joeski is up next, assuming a classic NYC house groove by stripping down the percussion and stepping up the 4/4s. Enchanting key motifs complete the cultured and easy feel of the excellent remix. Londoners Layo & Bushwacka! draw the package to an end with a looptastic stomper. A simple and driving relentless bassline rumbles below tribal percussion and high end wild sounding effects, creating yet another whole new dimension on the EP.
Quite simply this is one of Supplement Facts' best releases to date. Embracing the sun and warmth of summer, the "Sundowna" EP is easy on the soul and dance inducing in equal measure. The impeccably selected producers on the project find the perfect balance between the two to our delight.

Presenting a range of complimentary takes on house music but rooted in the label's deep and occasionally disco-tinged philosophy, there's naturally much to enjoy. Our picks of a very strong bunch include the colourful nu-disco-meets-piano-house flex of Lorenz Rhode's revision of S3A's 'Clarence J Bootlicker', a gorgeous, glassy-eyed Balearic house tweak of Rhode's own 'And I Said' courtesy of Tensnake, Leaves and Iron Curtis's ultra-dreamy and tactile take on The Tortoise's 'Lost Forever', a squelchy and locked-in Motorcitysoul re-rub of Dirt Crew, and Nebraska's inspired rework of 'Peach Shuffle' by Damp? Review: It's sexytime down Dirt Crew HQ, as the esteemed German label gathers together a selection of deep house cuts guaranteed to get you staring lovingly into the eyes of your nearest and dearest with the pie-eyed look of a post-orgasmic teenager. As you'd perhaps, there's plenty to stir the loins, from the discofied grooves of Plamn D'Acqua (the "Midas Touch" biting "House Orchid") and mellow moods of Nick Harris to the ultra-deep, lingerie-sporting slinkiness of Soul Minority, the Tortoise Orchestra and Iron Curtis. For those really sweaty moments, there's even an acid-flecked excursion from Mdione. As for the money shot, try Dirt Crew's own "Deep Love".
