Review: Bristol-based rising stars Jaymo and Andy George are regular collaborators. Here, they join forces again to launch Moda Music offshoot Moda Black with a compilation of previously unreleased material. For those interested in the new wave of British and European house, it should be an essential purchase. Some of the duo's own Bristol pals make an appearance, with strong contributions from Lukas (the darting "Best In Show") and Eats Everything & Idiotproof (an excellent, peaktime-friendly remix of The 2 Bears). Elsewhere, highlights include a grandiose new cut from the duo themselves, an organ-heavy garage-meets-cocaine house banger from Disclosure, and a cacophonous rinse-out from Hot Since 82.
Review: Sebastien Leger's record label, party series and clothing line Lost Miracle returns, following up terrific outings by the likes of Israeli ascendants Khen, Shai T and Roy Rosenfeld. They now look to veteran producer Tim Green, who follows up last month's terrific 'Vacation for Life' EP on the similarly minded All Day I Dream. The 'Moho' EP sees the London-based producer team up with Leger for a sublime two tracker,, which features the sublime and hypnotising melodic deep house of "Embre", followed by the slinky and seductive journey into the exotc that is the title track. Wonderfully visceral sounds here.
Review: Izhevski (real name Dimitry Pushkarev) is a serial collaborator whose joint productions have so far appeared on Shanti Radio, All Day I Dream and Watergate Records. Here he adds another label to his CV - Ruvenzori - via a fine hook-up with another experienced producer, Tim Green. Opener 'Mongolian Warrior' is a refined, melodious and emotionally rich affair, with deep, starry synthesizer chords and a deep analogue bassline wrapping around a typically swinging beat that should appeal to both deep house and tech-house DJs. 'Beacon' employs a similar drum track, though this time Green and Izhevski have smothered it in looped piano stabs, twinkling background electronics and echoing, eyes-closed vocal samples. Blissful stuff all round.
