Review: Will Saul's Aus Music imprint continues to churn out the hits. Here, the Berlin-based veteran has turned to Dixon Avenue Basement Jams and Houndstooth regular Marquis Hawkes, and fast-rising producer Timothy Blake. Interestingly, the two producers have chosen to eschew the raw, rough-and-ready approach that marks out Hawkes work, in particular, instead delivering two bubbly, soul-flecked tracks that variously doff a cap to classic Frankie Knuckles, Tony Humphries and David Morales productions. Both "Flip A Coin" and "Love Precipitation" have an old school U.S house/garage feel, with organs, piano solos, soulful vocal samples and swinging drums aplenty. It's a positive sound that makes us pine for humid summer nights at sun-kissed foreign festivals.

Review: Having previously released on Dirt Crew and Klein, Irish producer Timothy Blake could be considered a rising star. Here, he pops up on Lectric Sands' It's A Lectric World offshoot with a pleasingly vibrant four-tracker. There's a kind of recorded-to-tape, '80s synth wig-out feel about opener "R&B Restitition", while "Showtime" seemingly cuts up a load of old P-Funk and 8-bit games soundtracks, resulting in a no holds barred chunk of cheery synth-house. He continues the house theme on the near techno throb of "Soaring & Crashing" (which, incidentally, still contains dayglo synths), before closing proceedings with the wonky, piano-laden dancefloor madness of "Bee My Victim".

Review: Many happy returns to Germany's Dirt Crew Recordings imprint, which this year celebrates a decade of deep and tech-house releases. For this celebratory collection, they've decided to take a slightly different approach, eschewing label classics and forgotten gems in favour of new cuts from familiar and lesser-known artists. There's naturally much to admire, from the heavy, Soundstream-do-deep house loopiness of Yosa's "Love Me" and the surging deep house funk of Timothy Blake's "The Town is Quiet", to the woozy, Ame-ish rush of Matt Masters' "6&3 Twos". Tigerskin does his bit for the label's old guard with "Ad Lib Robot", a bouncy, soul-flecked acid jam that's one of the compilation's genuine highlights.
