The Butter Zone EP
Supernaturalflow - (4:55) 105 BPM Hot
Dancefloor Seasoning - (4:03) 105 BPM
Review: Party breaks producers always say that it takes a long life of slogging before you make it to heaven, but not for this mash-up king who had reached Breakbeats Paradise early. That said Tom Showtime has paid his dues too with years of delivery the party ammunition. Here he joins forces with the aforementioned label to provide more of the usual light-hearted floorfillers. There are five jams to enjoy here including the funky, Fresh Prince-era hip-hop vibes of "Supernaturalflow", the tough breaky grooves of the Salt-N-Pepa-sampling, "Dancefloor Seasoning" and the sunshine vibes of dubby dancehall jam, "King Of Clubs".

Warson - "Golden Ass" - (3:43) 105 BPM
Chudy - "U Know It" - (3:41) 105 BPM
Shaka Loves You - "Party Like We Do" - (3:46) 108 BPM
Review: It's a great sign of the state of music when the tenth installment of Tru Funk's Tasty Beats series, which normally features about five tunes, boasts 21 fresh new cuts! It's a veritable feast of party mash-up bangers, with something for everyone. Highlights include the funky Khia/Snoop blend of "Gangsta Lick", the cut-up electro-funk of "Golden Ass" and the hands-in-the-air Stevie Wonder madness of "Party Like We Do".

Ghetto Funk Presents DJ Maars & Tom Showtime
Lion On My Side - (5:12) 108 BPM
Happy Deals - (3:59) 108 BPM
Shake 'N' Break - (4:13) 108 BPM Hot
Review: Here the award winning breaks label Ghetto Funk presents its latest coup: the joint work of spectacularly named producers DJ Maars and Tom Showtime. It's all about the party jams here, with "Lion On My Side" kicking things off on an almost go-go tip with extra hands in the air vibes courtesy of some mean ragga MCing. Elsewhere 'Happy Deals" mixes vintage ska with some heavy sub bass, "Funk Haffi Make" is loopy ragga funk and "Shake N Break" wraps things up as a sunshine reggae/hip-house hybrid.

Funk Pants (The 2014 Re-Thread)
Funk Pants (The 2014 Re-Thread) (Roast Beatz mix) - (2:59) 108 BPM
Review: Mash-up hero Tom Showtime has assembled quite a cast for his latest production Funk Pants, a reworking of one of his older tunes. His own rework sees samples of funny old stage banter introducing some big tough breaky funky hip-hop madness. Remix-wise, BadboE ups the jerky funk, D-Funk adds some electro bass and breaks, Roast Beats goes brass-centric but it's Showtime's regular partner, DJ Maars, who wins out with his hyped reggae 're-skank'.

Jazz Biscuits - (3:37) 105 BPM Hot
The Short Mac - (3:28) 102 BPM
Let's Call This One Funky - (3:35) 103 BPM
Review: Of all the kinds of biscuits we've heard of, we must admit to being stumped by this latest species, "Jazz Biscuits". Luckily mash-up man Tom Showtime is on hand to elaborate (if not quite fully explain) with the title track's lazy funk beats and Bootsy Collins pon-spliff-icating on top. Big '70s drums get fused with hazy guitar licks and movie samples on "The Short Mac", "Let's Call This One Funky" is a hypnotic techno pop loop, whilst Showtime's more familiar formula of combining vintage electro-funk jams with hip-hop vocals, returns for closer "Spaces & Places".

Basement Freaks - "City Is Empty Without You" - (3:51) 105 BPM
Review: The unique Riddim Fruit must be in season during winter, as this is the third installment in this compilation series since the beginning of the year! Luckily this rare produce is still ripe, juicy and spilling with exotic goodness. The vibe on "Cloud Watching Vol 3" is still about the chilled side of breakbeat mixed with shimmering poolside jazz. Highlights include the sitar-led "5 O'Clock In The Morning", the rolling space dub of "Dirty Relic" and the mellow guitar fest "City Is Empty Without You" - which will make you hear David Bowie's Fame in a whole new light.
