Review: Amsterdam-based producer Toman returns after an 18-month hiatus with his new EP, Dolce Far Niente on Cecille Records. The EP showcases Toman's distinctive blend of raw, stripped-back house, starting with "Courtyard," where crunchy drums meet plucked bass tones and pulsating subs, layered with his own vocal hooks. "De Bongo Man" shifts to a more tribal vibe, featuring organic percussion and dubbed-out stabs over a resonant low-end groove. The title track, "Dolce Far Niente," ramps up the energy with robust drums and twitchy synth lines, while "Good Old Sunny Day" closes the release on a minimalist note, with reduced drums and airy chords.

With tracks like "Am I Conscious" delivering deep Berlin vibes with that trippy Claude Von Stroke vocal tip, get your trippier and dubbed out tracks from "Contigo". Shake your booty to some tribal New Yorkian touches in "Sabelo" and the stripped back "Everywhere I Go I'm Haunted By Jazz" with it's classical, hip hop sampling tip, with "Automatic" going deep and rhodesy in some Ibiza channelling class. Tech spirit, house vibes!

Review: It's been quite a successful year for Berlin-based American Kevin Knapp, with releases on Plump, Dirtybird and Katermukke over the last 12 months, not to mention that great collaboration with Audiojack on Crosstown Rebels a few months back. This time around he's on The Martinez Brothers' esteemed Cuttin' Headz with the boompty tech house of "Footprints" packed full of addictive swing. Dutchman Toman returns to follow up last month's release for the label (the Madrugada EP) to rework the track in minimal and bass-driven fashion that makes for perfect tackle at the afterhours, and closing it out with the funked-up and sensual groove of "What You Want".

Review: Back with his unique take on house that's been heard previously on labels such as No Art, Moscow & Eastenderz, Dutch DJ/producer Toman presents his latest release courtesy of The Martinez Brothers' Cuttin' Headz. "Madrugada" is a sweltering serve of tribal house on the funked-up tip, with its sultry vocal loop adding to its overall intoxicating effect - a perfect DJ tool for summer dancefloors if we've heard it. Second offering "Better Is Weather" perfectly bridges the gap between minimal and deep house in the vein of classic Losoul, with smooth Rhodes keys and trippy samples hypnotising you into submission to a backdrop of clipped rhythms.

Review: Moscow Records is now firmly established as one of tech-house's most consistent labels, with a penchant for cuts that add excitable elements - think warped acid lines, beffy sub-bass, layered percussion sounds, funk-fuelled electronic riffs and cut-up vocal snippets - to peak-time ready grooves that vary from smooth and seductive, to bold and boisterous. For proof, check this excellent compilation of some of the imprint's 2020 highlights. Review: Smooth '90s house sounds coming out of Toman's Otro Mundo EP from ANOTR's No Art label goes as far to employ Archie Hamilton for a remix of "Patience - a deep and easy vibe given a slight pop and trance touch from Archie. "Otro Mundo'' holds down a minimal groove and panning side effects that saddle up with the track's country western/desert vibe alongside a techier set of sounds in "Sometimes Is Not Forever (original mix)" that's spun out by a doppler effect of voice, vocals and lighter synths. Mundo exotico! Enjoy.

Review: Many congratulations to PIV, a well-regarded house label that has now been offering up a diverse blend of classy cuts - many inspired by, in their words, "the classic era of US house" - for five years. To celebrate this landmark, the label's Dutch and Indonesian founders have scoured the archives and put together a 15-track selection of highlights so far. Review: UK tech house hero Archie Hamilton celebrates a decade in the business for his beloved Moscow imprint. To celebrate this milestone, he's releasing a compilation featuring some of his favourite tracks from the last decade, where he looks through the back catalogue to bring you this timeless mix. Hamilton's own work is obviously pervasive, with highlights including the Inxec remix of "Two Time" that just so happened to be one of the imprint's very first releases, in addition to his collaboration with label staple Noha on "Lip Service" which gets an infectious rework by Romanian power duo SIT, and the ever reliable Samuel Andre Madsen giving "Informer" a typically swing-fuelled Reshape. Elsewhere, scene legends like Argy ("Siesta''), Shaun Reeves & Tuccillo ("Fill Calings") and GummiHz appear - the latter with his stellar remix of Keinton's "Strip Poker".
