Review: It's always exciting to see a new drop on the awesome Bomb Strikes imprint, a label that has helped push breakbeat music as far as it can go over the last few years, constantly unloading top quality creations. This time around, Prosper and Stabfinger join forces, firstly with the assistance of Too Many T's on 'Doin' The Conga', a vibrant crunch through gnarly synthesis and catchy singalong vocal displays. Next, Awoke touches down for a guest appearance on 'Check The Status', a slowly creeping trek through murky drums and moody subs, with the instrumental edition of 'Doin' The Conga' then arriving to close off this well thought out collection in style.
Review: The Rocstar label have been going strong for a good while now, never tired of splurging out on everything to do with UK dance music; from garage, to grime and breakbeat, these heads like to bill up and spark those smoking joints. They got newcomer Danny.Wav this time around, a young bass-slinger who has no problem in laying down some absolute nastiness in "Hold it Down", his debut as a producer, and a monster hybrid tune. The instrumental mix is big, and and heavy - a perfect DJ weapon - whereas "Woi!" mashes shit up and lays down a speed-garage banger like we haven't heard in donkey's years
Review: Following the inaugural volume earlier this month, Bristol bass outpost Ghetto Funk dusts off more of its back catalogue for those who need a quick catch-up or reminder of the label's defined party-pummelling motifs. While the first collection was all about originals, this one is about the all-essential refixes and remixes as the likes of Tonic snaps down on Too Many Ts with a toothy bass bite, DJP gets his spacious swing on over Second Hand Audio and WBBL adds some beautiful smoky dub sensations over Funk Ferret. There's 10 tracks in total, each one a reminder of Ghetto Funk's unique talent roster and instantly distinctive signature - there's a reason they've won Best Label at Breakspoll two years on the trot!
