Review: Coming to us courtesy of Get Human, we get to celebrate the 25th anniversary of 'Ripgroove' in style, with the original pair linking up with an expansion pack of an EP, featuring nine sizzling recreations, opening up with a 2022 Reimagination edit and then a club mix to follow. We then sweep into 'The Directors Cut', an alternative edit that provides us with spooky string lines and even more rhythmic madness, before the Double 99 vs 10 Below remix pulls the original classic themes into the modern day with a bulbous garage rebuild. Bristol's own Daffy then gets his hands on the project to deliver a gnarly overhaul, doused in grizzly bass energy, before the super electronic synthy switchups of the 'Ewan McVicar Drop For 34 Knots' mix are let loose. To round off with then see an original vocal edit, a totally re-recorded version and then both of those combined to see out this classic celebration in style.

For many eras, Double 99 & Top Cat's 'Ripgroove' has been an absolute cornerstone in underground dance culture, with this new box of remixes celebrating 25 years of the track's wonderful existence. First up a half-time edit arrives, with themes similar to grime, dubstep and breaks all being layered together, before the 'Club Mix' strips the above back into a much more sub-driven roller. Review: Given the recent upsurge in interest in the back catalogue of seminal Chicago label Dance Mania - particularly the ghetto booty side of their output - it seems fitting that Strut have finally given the label the retrospective treatment it so richly deserves. The whole story is here, from the early jack tracks of Hercules, The Housemaster Boyz and Victor Romero, to the stomping rhythms of DJ Funk, Dj Deeon and Robert Armani (whose ghetto-meets-acid jam "Ambulance" is a riotous highlight). Along the way, there are classics aplenty, alongside lesser-known gems from the vaults (see Parris Mitchell Project's ace "Ghetto Shout Out (feat Wax Master)" and Paul Johnson's thrilling "Feel My MF Bass"). Whether you're a Chicago house connoisseur or not, this should be essential listening.

Review: Irish wobble-maestros Dirty Dubsters continue their relentless assault on the junodownload charts, unveiling "Girls Pon Mi Mind" a eminently carnival ready collaboration with Champion UK Deejay Top Cat, which comes backed with some switch em up remixes. The original version pays equal attention to the chunked out beats as it does the authentic dubbed out skank riddims that shift in and out of focus along with some vintage JA horns, whilst Top Cat's distinctive delivery rides the circa 140bpm bump with aplomb. Those wanting something a bit rowdier will no doubt be satisfied by the accompanying remixes from Liondub and Spenda C which flip "Girls Pon Mi Mind"in a vintage jungle stylee and main room dumbstep way respectively.
