Review: Weapons Of Choice rally up the troops once again for another crucial 'Wild Bunch' collection and, as you'd expect, it's an absolutely blazing bounty of futuristic D&B fire. Sitting somewhere in the dark corners between neuro, dancefloor, jump-up and jungle - with an exciting international rollcall of artists - the full VA reflects the label's wide-armed and no-nonsense style. From big horn-heaved festival skankers such as Krak In Dub's 'Life Pon The Line' to minimal flare-ups like Nemy's Vitiligo', the full spectrum is covered here. Extra fistbumps go to Arkange's insane 'Get Bullet' for it's absolutely twisted riff on 'Get Bullet'. Wild by name, wild by nature.

Review: Featuring music from across the Americas, the latest compilation on Modularz sees household names line up alongside newer talent. Veteran producers Developer and Jeremy Caulfield both deliver understated interpretations of modern minimalism, led by subtle, snaking grooves. Remaining in that field, Juan Trujillo's "Massive Flood" serves up a more layered, dystopian sound, while Jonas Kopp's "Tremsixxed" leads the compilation into a loop techno direction, powered by dusty drums. This is also a collection of extremes: The Ripped's abrasive industrial techno on "Self Aware Image" represents the most intense iteration of the Modularz sound, while at the other end of the spectrum is Uun's wonderfully esoteric electro, "Book Of Miracles".

Review: Based in Buenos Aires but taking a global view, for its latest release SRIE serves up an excellent, diverse compilation. Jonas Kopp's "Dyslexic" is a nocturnal affair, powered by a raw metallic rhythm and rough kicks, while on "Shadow Weaver", Echelon serves up an equally dystopian take on the form, with eerie riffs unravelling over a spiky rhythm. In stark contrast, there are more understated tracks like Temudo's dubbed out "Out of Place" and the purring bass and hypnotic synths of Linear System's "Applied Physics". There are also some fine abstract tracks included here, with the bleak, gurgling bass of Pulso's "The Outsider" and the dark tones of Translate's "Synaptic Area" really impressing.

Review: Srie unveils a new split release that brings together tracks from established producers alongside emerging new artists. Staffan Linzatti's "Nature?s Response" is a sleek, linear rhythm led by steely hi hats and hypnotic bleeps, with this combination supported by a booming bass. Working under his Echelon guise, Jeroen Search ups the intensity levels for "SR046", delivering an incessant, jacking slice of techno that features doubled-up claps and a peak-time, robotic rhythm. In between these two techno stalwarts are label owners Pulso and Translate. On "Displaced Self Control", the former drops an eerie, heavily textured track, while Translate's "Neur?l Learning" is a more club-friendly take on this sound, punctuated by insistent bleeps.

Review: Teo 'Translate' Pellegrino follows last year's release on Float with this fine six-track release. The title track is a slow-paced, tonal track that sounds inspired by Jeff Mills' more abstract leanings, while experimentation is also at play on the stripped back groove of "Functions Domain", a slow-burning affair that gradually unwinds. Pellegrino picks up the pace for "Nonlinearity", with its repetitive pulses and layered bleeps coming across like a combination of Sleeparchive and Mike Parker - with its eerie synth builds only adding to the sense of drama. "Exact Sciences" is similarly themed, albeit more understated, while "Fenure" sees Pellegrino venture into a tripped out denouement, led by 90s sounding synth swirls.

Review: Following on from their contribution to the Mutable Minds IV split release on MindTrip earlier this year, the label has given Translate & Pulso free reign to do a full solo EP. Varying in sound and intensity all of the "Particles" tracks show that the pair are a creative powerhouse. From the warbling, snaking groove of the first track, through the dense, layered "Particle II" and the third "Particle", where the duo venture down a path often explored by Mike Parker's subsonic sounds, it's a mesmerising, contemporary release. But as the grinding minimalism of "Particle IV" and the pounding finale both show, the pair are also well aware of techno's 90s heritage.

Review: Circular Balance is Translate's debut on Dutch label Float, and it delivers four outstanding underground techno tracks. The insistent, hypnotic drums and organic-sounding percussion on "Arcnex" is redolent of Oliver Ho's early tribal techno releases. In sharp contrast, "Surface Radar' sees Translate up the tempo and intensity levels, with Sleeparchive-style tonal bleeps unfolding over bleak synths and busy hi-hats. "Inoculum" marks another change in direction and features a dubbed out groove underpinning shifting tonal sequences. Rounding off the release, Translate sets sail for more experimental territory with the frazzled bass and spooky effects of "Division Selectiva".

Review: Next up on SRIE is a split release that shines a light on techno's more tripped out spectrum. Evod's "Wax" is a dark, pulsating stepper, its drones and blips dank and acrid. A more accessible take on this sound is audible on Giri's steely rhythm-led "Rejecto" where the tonal frequencies sound inspired by the bleep techno of LFO. However, the compilation's direction is brought back to the darker recesses by the mysterious sound scapes and ramshackle hi hats of CHIM?R's "Book Of Sand" the eerie, Sleeparchive-style tonal repetition of Moon Phase's "La Luna" and David Reina exploring Millsian mystery on the driving but alien-like "Sine Wave Dreams".

Review: The fourth instalment in MindTrip's Mutable Minds series gets off to a hypnotic start as cold tones unravel over a sleek metallic rhythm on Translate & Pulso's "Moriarty". Kike Pravda's "Heat" is much more visceral, with wave upon wave of noisy electronics paired up with a barrelling, murky groove. Changing tact and shifting tempo again is Norbak's "Avadhuta"; while spacey filters lend the arrangement a cavernous feeling, there is no mistaking the power of its driving, steely drums and percussion. Vohkinne's "Active Radio" is in many ways, the most conventional track, but its rolling, loopy groove benefits from the type of tripped out hypnotic layers that have become MindTrip's stock in trade.
