Review: 2019 saw a serious rise in the popularity of footwork and juke and if we are honest we can't see this new fascination slowing down any time soon, especially with labels such as Moveltraxx supplying compilations as good as this. Street Bangers Factory reaches number thirteen here, featuring six very tasty, high energy monsters, with a roster including Alex Autajon, Big dope P, Traxman, Selky and more. For us however there are a pair of clear highlighters, with DJ Manny's system ready 'Dance Flo' being ready to slap the sub out of any system and Househead Samira's 'Overalls' giving us a disco-ready funkathon.

Review: It's time to take it back to a more rave-ready time as we here see the combined talents of Traxman and DJ Deeon link together for a brand new heater, courtesy of Moveltraxx. This one takes the quite amusing title of 'Ball In Ya Mouf', which comes to the surface through some clever vocal looping, as the rest of the composition takes on a stripped back hardcore nature, focussing primarily on minimilst drum patterns and catchy bass grooves. You can safely say this one is unusual, but quite a lot of fun!

Review: We here see Moveltraxx return for another edition to their exciting 2019 catalogue, forever championing the experimental side of footwork and juke. They have gathered together a monumental track listing here as they invite in heavyweight footwork frontrunners such as Rashad, DJ Earl, Traxman, Naina, and more. There are a tonne of heaters involved, with highlights including Hiroki Yamamura's extremely colourful 'Venus Beats' and the super experimental electronic tastings of 'Philthkids' from Mo Fiyah. Yet another extremely creative selection from the Moveltraxx team.

Review: Next up we take a quick look at the latest drop from Teklife, who invite Traxman back for the second edition of the 'Tekvision' series, this time consisting of seven tracks, all boasting unique footwork energies. From the high rolling kicks and smart sampling of 'It's Lasting Bass' and 'Let Me See You Naked' to the lo-fi hardcore inspired arrangements of 'Work Dat Mutha Fucka' alongside Steve Pointdexter, this project packs some serious heat. Our highlight has to be the super atmospheric harmonic structure and padded soundscaping of 'Osaka', which fuses the high energy drum movement of footwork with some stunning melodic structure with great results.

Review: A leading figure and respected elder in the Teklife family, Traxman has waited patiently while releases from young upstarts like Taso and Dj Earl have been enjoyed by footwork lovers all over the world. Now the time has come for him to take centre stage, presenting a collection of new material that demonstrates his mastery of the sound. Cornelius Ferguson is a mainstay of the Chicago underground, with a discography stretching back to the golden era of Dance Mania Records in the '90s. Ghetto house was an important precursor to Footwork, and Ferguson was a key figure during this transition. Highlights on Tekvision include the jagged deepness of "Be Gagen" (featuring DJ Earl), while "Drop It Down" and "Twist The Party Out" pay homage to the origins of juke and footwork.

Traxman & DJ Deeon - "All U Pussy MF" - (2:59) 159 BPM Hot
Long Dik Style - (3:17) 107 BPM
Review: Cornelius Ferguson, or otherwise known as the mighty Traxman, has a long and respectful history when it comes to that 'ghetto' house sound and the whole footwork-juke continuum. Among other labels, he's been a part of Dance Mania, but has also given the UK's Planet Mu a credible angle into the US scene thanks to two killer albums. This new EP on Good Street is all fun and play, with both "Faces" and "Dusty Loopz" strutting their lively melodies amid fast-paced percussion knots. He appears alongside DJ Phil on the more mystical "Mystery Jazz", and with the infamous DJ Deeon on the classic DM-style ghetto joint "All U Pussy MF". "Long Dik Style" brings things to a close with a broken, shifting rhythm that pushes sampling to its limits.

Review: At a time when so many of its early contemporaries are rarely seen releasing these days, Planet Mu's 20th anniversary is even more of a cause de celebre. The powerhouse of uncompromising leftfield electronic music has pulled no punches when it comes to commemorating the time, drawing on the staggering roster including Kuedo, Remarc, Traxman, Falty DL, Machinedrum, Milanese, Vex'd, Neil Landstrumm and so very many more besides, bringing together tracks from the vaults, from forgotten times, some of which have never previously seen the light of day. With 50 tracks to delve into, this is enough of an education to school even the most learned mind.

Review: Dance Mania's mythical Traxman is back with a romping-stomping, leviathan of a compilation on Lit City Trax. Apparently this LP has been in the works for a long time and is finally all done and dusted, bringing you twenty-one tracks ranging from gnarly, half-step drum machine rhythms such as "Buddha Muzik" to more ghetto/juke flavoured anthems like "Blow Your Whistle" or "Bussin", featuring the equally as legendary DJ Rashad. The entire LP simply screams Chicago and its many facets or sub-genres of ghetto house - it's one for the lovers and not the playa haters! Traxman coming in hard yet again...
