Review: To celebrate an incredible run of releases and festival stage takeovers, CruCast have collated some of their most popular releases over the last few years into one handy compilation, taking the name 'Cru100'. Now over the past few years we have seen CruCast lay down a pretty dominant release schedule, which shows in this tracklisting as we reminisce with classics from the likes of Skepsis, Darkzy, Distinkt and Tsuki, with more recent bangers such as Bru-C and Simula's 'You & I' making it onto the listing also. If you are looking for certified dancefloor ammo, look no further!

Review: One thing we have noticed about the CruCast release model, is that it is perfectly balanced between their more established faces and a constant wave of exciting newcomers. This release pays homage to the first of those options as CruCast roll out the red carpet for an all-star affair as the likes of Skepsis, Darkzy, Bru-C, TS7, Tsuki and more come together for a scorching selection of brazen bassy badness. There are some tasty pieces involved, but the ones that leap out the most have to include Skue-K's colourful rework of Bru-C & D Double's 'Heater', along with a vibrant VIP mix of 'Jungle' from Nu Aspect.

Review: As champions of the UK bassline sound, the CruCast roster continues to impress on all angles as they unleash the third edition of their 'We Are Crucast' series, showcasing some of the most heavyweight releases they have landed over the course of 2020. The roster is pretty sensational to say the least, with the likes of AC Slater, Darkzy, P Money, Zero, Skepsis, TS7, Zero, Cajama and more all making notable appearances throughout. The project as a whole is a top quality representation of where the sound of UK bassline is currently at, with our personal favourites including the techy blips and vibrant subs of MPH's '116', alongside the stripped back bass warbles of Corrupt (UK)'s 'Strange Things' alongside the sultry vocal lines of Raas. Top stuff all around!

Iron Fist Audio Remixes Volume 2
Agro - "Spilt Milk" (Ironlung remix) - (4:12) 175 BPM
Tsuki - "Deranged" (Total Recall remix) - (4:31) 175 BPM
Vital - "Blam" (Jaydan remix) - (4:28) 175 BPM
Ironlung - "The Void" (Nu Elementz remix) - (4:23) 175 BPM Hot
Review: The next instalment in the Iron Fist Audio remix series is here and it's four weighty cuts in the style the label has become well known for, with Nu Elementz, Jaydan, Ironlung and Total Recall coming through in style on this one. We especially love the Total Recall remix of Tsuki's 'Deranged', which packs a sweet flowing drum line (mate that snare though...), an addition that carries the whole tune forward and is complimented by a diving, swelling back end that takes no prisoners whatsoever. Jump up big gun Jaydan also performs well here, with a spinning take on synthetic force that inches and stabs its way into your ears. Proper moody this.

The Slasher/Feel
The Slasher - (4:04) 175 BPM Hot
Feel - (3:49) 175 BPM
Review: Low Down Deep has become one of the premier destinations for UK jump-up, playing host to every big name in the scene over the years. Now a proper flag-holder for the resurgent jump-up movement, Low Down Deep are back and they're repping Tsuki, one of the big up and comers right now. 'The Slasher' is playful yet devastating, with an upbeat and funky arrangement that lands hard - very hard. 'Feel' is less subtle, with pitched up synths that pummel the top end of the range and a snapping drum line that nails the bottom end. Yes Tsuki!

Review: Down 2 Earth Musik is Macky Gee's label and for the end of the year he's coming at you with a fat compilation of tunes that fit in with the sound he's pioneered this year and the last. Not many artists have been as break out a success as Macky this year and it shows on this release, things kicking off with the fiery VIP of 'Calm Before The Storm', an appriopriate title for the first tune of an album that goes on to include tracks like Rawtee's 'Alligator' and Matzet's 'Roller Coaster'. Arguably the highlight comes from Macky himself though when he's joined by MC Skibadee on Bangers N Mash, a proper skank out with one of the most legendary MCs in the game.

Review: Expecting a booty call? How about a call from your mum? Maybe you're waiting for a call about a new job? Well it ain't gonna happen because they've all the "Wrong Number" and we have Tsuki to blame. Four reasons to never call anyone again, Tsuki once again reminds us how wide his range is; "Wrong Number" is so heavy and rolling it could flatten a phonebook, "Run" rasps with such sinewy high tones it could rip a phonebook up by its own bare hands, "Restart" is so fat it could eat three phone books (without so much as a splash of vinegar) while "Back To You" (with Subsonic) is such emotional fire it could burn down a whole warehouse of phonebooks. Play the numbers game...

Messiah - (5:12) 175 BPM Hot
Tsuki - "Escape" - (4:32) 175 BPM
Review: Massive Midlands business: Tsuki and Subsonic tag up on the ever-hyping Down 2 Easy. Hot on the heels of the epic sing-along "Let It Shine" from Phantasy & Macky Gee come these two brilliantly triumphant and theatrical peaktimers. "Messiah" lives up to its name with a vital, emotionally-charged turbo rave intro, we're then bull-charged into a laser-licked riff that blows minds at twenty paces. Tsuki goes solo on "Escape". An addictive bassline made out of concentrated bounce, if you're not reloading this you're playing to the wrong crowd. Incredible.

No Trouble - (4:24) 175 BPM
Revive - (4:28) 175 BPM
Rizla - (4:23) 175 BPM
Review: This EP draws a lot of influence from the noisy modern day jump up, but it's got a groove to it, making it seem more distinguished and grown up. 'Lose Your mind' is a little dark stepper, its rumbling sub is understated and leaves room for the robotic melody. "No Trouble' has a very distinct LLD feeling to it, as does 'Rizla'. 'Revive' is based around very simple drum pattern and like the other tracks has an open vibe to the soundscape, the main melodic synths here are what makes the track special as they change pitch the odd sound provided a great chance to buss a bass face.

Bad VIP/Inspector Gadget VIP
Kanine - "Bad (VIP)" - (4:01) 175 BPM Hot
Tsuki - "Inspector (VIP)" - (4:28) 175 BPM
Review: VIPs in the hole! Two of Bulletproof's biggest club-shakers undergo fire updates from the men themselves. First up is barking badman Kanine who adds a whole new metallic crunch to his woofer-burning "Bad". Tsuki follows in hot pursuit with his modified "Inspector Gadget" where the lower part of the bass Q&A takes much more of a lead with a brand new twist on the hook. Deadly.

Review: Some of us reach for the stars. Other, more superhuman-like, people reach for entire solar systems... And get them. Superhumans like yung Tsuki who has consistently smashed every door down in sight since emerging 18 months ago. Crafty with the riff magic, every bassline he conjures could make your nan shake and these are no exception; the pitch-shifting bassline mutations on the title track, the rattling organic drum fill and high/low Q&A riff on "RGB" and the venomous hook on "Terror" are just three certifiable shakers. Stay tuned. For his next trick Tsuki will be reaching for the universe...

Review: Feel the force: Macky Gee's Down 2 Earth returns with their second "Gravity" collection and it's every bit as essential as its namesake... Hizzleguy trumps the game with an 8-bit remix we've always dreamt of. Full of muscles and mushrooms, you'll be collecting gold coins for a long time to come. Other highlights include the nagging clipped harmonic bass riff on Tsuki's "Kit Kat", the coiled spring rhythm of Matzet's "Loop 95" the croaking bass and rattling percussion of Leaf's "Business" and Replicant's methodical horn-sampling roll-out charmer "Tiger Marks". Get your coats, you've (gravitationally) pulled.

The Remixes Vol 1
Tsuki - "Street Wars" (Premium remix) - (4:29) 175 BPM
Kanine - "9 Lives" (K Motionz remix) - (3:39) 175 BPM Hot
Played by: Toxinate
Review: Remix time: Bulletproof don their protective clothing for two killer versions of two recent tried and tested bangers. First up Tsuki's "Street Wars" continues to develop a life of its own. As the dust settles from the recent VIP, Premium adds a whole new layer of thugged out prang-flavoured bass. K Motionz follows with an equally suited, booted and space-funked twist on Bulletproof's second ever release - Kanine's barking mad "9 Lives". With more to follow, it feels like Bulletproof are only just getting started.

Review: Having slipped some length of the leng back in December '16, Tsuki's sharp-shooting "35mm" returns in remix-form. Klay adds more funk in the drums and an extra note or two in the riff, Freek does a really cool harmonic twist on the vocal sample and ruffs up the bass like a bully with a heart of gold while "Nu Elementz" go back to the killer riff and bring it back to the fore. Not enough for you? Chow down on Tsuki's VIP you greedy gunman you. Bang bangers.

Street Wars (VIP) - (4:28) 175 BPM
Review: Go go gadget gully: Tsuki returns to Bulletproof after a liquid cameo role on Bass Legion with four more messages of menace. "Inspector Gadget" riffs with a Clipz-style infectiousness while "Addiction" tackles serious social challenges with the ugliest, croakiest bassline possible. "Ruff Endz" is all about the buzzy higher end bass texture he's making his signature. Finally a cheeky VIP that doubles up the bassline pressure of last year's damager "Street Wars". Fresh.

Review: Flipping the switch and easing into the new year with subversive style, heavyweight dancefloor imprint Bass Legion let loose with a collection of deeper, liquid sounds you might not expect from their usually uncompromising acts. Serious moments of delicate and imaginative music abound as Tsuki plays a restrained piano number, Metal Work goes on a Total Science style space funk step odyssey and Dutta delivers a wondrous filtered hazy roller that wouldn't have gone amiss on Hospital 15 years ago. Rounding up the deep concept in style Vision takes us to the stars on a Maduk style trip while Simskai gets freak on a slippery synth disco trip. A well-executed concept; more labels should take a leaf out of Bass Legion's book and get their artists exploring other styles.

Review: Tsuki isn't messing around this month. Not content with shooting two ludicrous hurters on Bulletproof, he also makes his debut on Bass Legion with this firing four-tracker. "35mm" balances a spiked-out riff with some delicate piano strokes, "Watermelon" kicks with a blunt, Tyke-style riff while "Truth Or Dare" is all about the sinewy stabby riff that turns itself inside out midway. Finally "Bad" shows off the young UK producer's more restrained side with a purring sub that sets the scene for another sharp, jumpy riff. In other news - writing reviews of jump up records while severely hungover is not the one. WHO KNEW?

Rudeboy - (4:24) 175 BPM
Review: More Midlands murkery as Droitwich newcomer Tsuki continues to amplify on his recent Stickybass arrival siren. This time he's on Bulletproof with two heavily armoured workouts: "Street Wars" focuses our attention on a pranged out bass tone that jumps hard but punches with a mature Bristol funk that belies Tsuki's 19 years. "Rudeboy" is all about the swagger with its tripletty step and Happy-era Hazard higher range bass riff before dropping into sombre, bone-chilling pads. Going places.
