Review: There have been few labels that have impressed us at Juno Download more than Strictly Flava this year, primarily due to their incredible levels of consistency. This latest drop is a fantastic way to demonstrate that as they unveil the first of the 'Strictly Flava Allstars' series, with Brenz starting proceedings with a super groovy vocal mashup entitled 'Lingerie Music'. Next, Tuff Culture touches down with a big room roller entitled 'Vibrations', before the colourful melodies of Para's 'Promise' and old school LFO work of Pepe Elle's 'Fresh Pillow' roll out. Finally, we find ourselves with a really original piece as Sensa lays down some refreshing sub work, alongside smart vocal assists on 'Let It Go' to polish this one off with some serious finesse.

Review: From Four40 to Project Allout, UK bass scientist Tuff Culture has shown us many sides of his artistic persona. If we want to keep things topline, this guy can make just about any form of UK dance music; he's given us dubstep, a little trap, some house, and now two new garage-leaning joints. "Take Me" is deep and pensive, but once the main hook drops it's an infectious drum affair with a growling, penetrative bassline. "I Don't Care" is a more typical garage tune because of its twisted, dusty drum pattern, but the sounds within are anything but what you'd normally expect from a 90's garage track. Wait for that switch, too.

Review: Midlands bass hero Tuff Culture likes to challenge the expectations of what the genre should sound like, and for his latest missive he's looked to 1980s cop show Miami vice for inspiration. However he's stayed with a very UK sound for the EP. The title track marries Ocean Drive synth pads and bleepy melodies with a bit of rough edged bass. "Need Me" is messy UKG with punchy snares and cut-up loops and "Wanna Be' ends with a hard and heavy 4 x 4 slammer. Moony also appears to give the title track a deliciously deep 2-step makeover too.

Highlights include the eski angst of Chemist RNS' "Stare", the violin-snapping, post-dubstep darkness of Deadbeat UK's "Graveyard", the outrageous VIP muscles of Hoax and Dubzta's "Twilight Zone" and the sassy vocal flexery of Pavv's "You Got Me". This is just the tip of the bassline iceberg, though. Dig deep and grab your own lenger; there are enough here for everyone.

Review: Hot on the heels of "Artillery" on Four40, Birmingham bass-buster Tuff Culture delivers an equally dark and distinctive cut on Project Allout. A strutting 4/4 garage joint coded with sacks of space and slinky subs, it utilises gangster-style synth horns with a subtle funk effect. Remix-wise Enigma Dubz takes us back to the dubstep source where those horns sounds even more aggy and dramatic while Dr Cryptic lets rip with a firing, uptempo 4/4 cut that sits somewhere between bassline house and juke. Hench heaven.

Review: An absolute leviathan of a compilation from Project Allout here, and it's just in time for some Christmas cheer from one of the fastest growing UK bass hubs in the game! A tad packed for us to go through it all, but this is guaranteed quality, especially given the fact that the release features plenty of label regulars, new faces and even some pretty incredible cameo appearances from the likes of Caspa, Deadbeat and Dubzta. Each puts in a fine performance, particularly Deadbeat with his "Street Life" cut, a glorious mashup of funky house breaks and wobbled low-end. Be sure to check the licks from Spooky, Mr Dubzta and Tuff Culture, too. Badman vibes and another stunner from Project Allout.

Review: The vocal sample from Tuff Culture's "Africa" will be familiar to any Chemical Brothers fans out there who know the track "It Began In Afrika" (originally sampled from Jim Ingram's "Drumbeat"). The lead cut here is a great tune which combines baile funk with splashes of dubstep and skipping house. "Bye Your Side" is the standout garage track on this EP, while "You & Me" and "Touched VIP" are deep, bass driven and flecked with flashes of cooling chords.

Review: Having just celebrated their 100th release, L2S have now secured four of the most sought after tunes by this sizzling Birmingham bass producer as the follow-up! Tuff Culture's music is bursting with an ambition not usually heard in a scene largely focused on bangers. "Can't Stop" blends fuzzy electro keyboards with Y2K 2-step beats and angelic female vocals, "Voices Of Neptune" features almost choral vocals over a slick MJ Cole-style future garage backing, "Voices Of Saturn" (we think there's a theme here), is dirtier, bassier stuff and "Voices Of Mercury" wraps things up with widescreen orchestration and melancholic breaks. Essential.

Review: It's been a brief minute since this now classic link up last came into action, but we are absolutely thrilled to see Tuff Culture once again returning to GS Dubs for a vibrant two track display. First up 'Shift Ctrl Del' sees us work our way through one of the most unorthodox garage arrangements we've heard this year, seeing swampy LFO flutters join forces with booming subs, lofi drums and catchy vocal riffs for a truly unique sonic experience. On the flip to this, we get into another shuffling heater as we hear the classic fuzzy organ drives and choppy 2-step rhythms of 'Bedroom Party', giving us the perfect contrast as a B-side for this wicked new double drop. It's a collaboration series that always seems to deliver!

Review: It's that time again, as Tuff Culture once again returns to Garage Shared for another fabulous addition to his highly popular 'Roots' EP series. This time around he has three more pelters lined up for us to enjoy, kicking off with the dreamy vocal delays and nostalgic chord progressions of 'Fantasy', which in typical Tuff Culture style, kicks off the project with a seriously vibrant bounce to say the least! From here, 'Kitchen Party' is thrown down, unleashing a serious nostalgic drum display, with crunchy claps and thumping kicks giving us all the groove we could ask for, atop bulging basslines and catchy vocal flicks. Finally, 'Yesterday' takes the best of both the two previous creations with a very refreshing sizzler, perfect to round off with this new collection.

Review: The GS Dubs team, being an offshoot of the incredibly consistent Garage Shared collective, are always pumping out exciting new drops, with this new compilation selection being one of the strongest in a hot minute. In anticipation of the clubs and raves reopening properly, they have gathered together ten original dancefloor anthems for garage DJ's the world over to enjoy. The tracklisting and roster is pretty monstrous, featuring tidy new creations from the likes of Tuff Culture, Chimpizm, K9, Deja, Aki and more of the active Garage Shared. There are a couple of real highlights for us, including the super spicy VIP mix of Miss L.A & Bunka's 'My Love', which was already a belter to begin with, alongside the choppy chord progressions and skippy percussive textures of 'Carbon' from Howden and system busting wobbles of ADuki's 'Make Noise'. With additional killer creations from Oh My Daze, Rebz & Ollie Weeks, this is definitely not a compilation to miss.

Review: As ever with Tuff Culture, he remains at the forefront of garage music, this time showcasing more goodness with the third edition of his 'Roots' series with the GS Dubs gang. This time around we're in for one hell of a ride with 'Attack Of The Retro Consoles', as we kick off with 'N64', a sumptuous roller, stuffed with a combination of colourful melodies and intricate breaksy action, followed by the sizzling subs and groovy drum skips of 'Mega Drive', this time focussing on bassy goodness and simple rhythms to kick start any dance. We then finish up with a dash of finesse as 'C64' delivers the most groovy arrangement of the lot, dripping in vibrant drum arrangements and crunchy textures all around. Lovely work!

Review: Following on from a very exciting string of recent releases, we were thrilled to see Tuff Culture once again linking up with the GS Dubs team for the eighth edition of the 'Elements' series. As always with Tuff Culture, he delivers a selection of high energy garage originals, kicking of with 'Them Days', a tip top throwback link up with the sounds of SG. Next, 'Boss' deploys some super groovy rhythms, alongside the super futuristic percussive sub combos of 'My Addiction'. The one and only Gemi then joins the party for the catchy vocal slices and groovy rhythms of 'Just One', before the EP rounds off with 'For You', an organic roller driven by interesting rhythmic instrumentation and spacey synth action. Fabulous stuff!

Review: As always with Tuff Culture, we knew we were in for a good time as soon as the release landed in the forthcoming section of the store, taking these three originals back to the oldschool with his second edition of 'Roots'. We begin with 'Equal', a super crunchy combination of nostalgic chord pushes and lofi drum designs, followed closely by the high energy 4x4 beat-shuffles and pulsating basslines of 'Screwface'. Finally, the vibes switch up to combine the feelings of the first two tracks with 'Wave Interference', an original jam packed with tasty vocal chops, scattered chord progressions and smooth bass pushes below, rounding off a wicked body of work in serious style.
