Review: Ring the remix alarm! Tyke digs deep into his vaults and sends for two of the most exciting new-gen producers to remix some of his classic b-side cuts from two of his biggest releases on Grid back in the early 2010s. First is young Norwich-based Amplify who takes on 'The Track That Dripped Blood'. Famously the flipside track of Tyke's massive 'Drug Pusher', here Amplify switches the grit for more of a warm squelchy vibe while maintaining the original's creepiness and suspense. Elsewhere we see young Newcastle artist Hexa taking on Tyke's 'Buzzards' b-side 'THX Dub'. Once again retaining the brute strength of the original (mainly via those badass mentasms) Hexa adds a whole new rolling vibe bringing the tune bang up to date with the future. Bloody marvellous.

Review: Playaz are rounding out this year with their first compilation for quite some time, and their 2020 roundup relies on a fairly small handful of long-term label stalwarts across twenty tracks. In this case, less is more and the likes of Annix, Taxman, DJ Hybrid and Tyke all come seriously correct in this compilation, their collective decades of experience really shining through. Taxman's 'You Can't See' is absurdly good, with wonderfully stuttering breaks which emerge from shimmering synth lines before cutting into a raucously stabbing bass hits, a proper rowdy collection of sounds which get right to the heart of the Playaz sound. Bristol trio The Sauce pop up on the label with several contributions, including 'Spooked', an eerie roller with choppiness right at its core - big stuff from the crew.

Review: One of the most delightfully unpredictable producers on the Playaz roster Tyke returns with two more flip-switching jams that will fit into any style, shape or size of set; "Lion Of Judah" harnesses the power of Jah and fires it across a ribbed bassline that scutters and jitters like a slug having a fit. "Seperation", meanwhile, shows off Tyke's soulful edge with a sunny-side dubwise vibe, heavenly vocals and a groove that flips between basslines like your mum flips through cakes when no one's looking. Naughty.

Review: Man like Tyke on Holographic Audio with a deadly one-track wounder. Will wonders ever cease? Not before these gloriously gully 3 minutes and 41 seconds are up that's for sure. Squelchy, warm, hooky, fun and a little deeper than some of Tyke's savage signature, this is much more than a mere flicker, it's full on arson. More please!
