Review: It's fair to say that this release has been a labour of love. Five years in the making, label owner Emmanuel has chosen a collection of tracks from his dream team of techno producers. This means that ASC's breathy ambience "Stasis" sits beside deep, at times acid -soaked pulsing rhythms from Boston 168, Unbalance and Forward Strategy Group as well as peak-time rollers from emerging artists like Cleric and industrial bangers courtesy of scene veterans like Dustin Zahn. While the inclusion of producers such as Subjected and the fast rising I Hate Models is sure to put increased focus on this compilation, its real, lasting value are the more cerebral contributions such as Emmanuel's own "Bridge of Quietness".

Review: Moscow club Propaganda celebrates its twentieth anniversary by launching a label of the same name. It's testament to the club's ability to reinvent itself that it has put together such an inspired split release as its first offering. Dimi Angelis kicks starts the EP in blistering form with the 130bpm plus thundering tribal sound of "Crossfire". It's followed by UK techno veteran Kirk Degiorgio, who keeps the mood dark and foreboding with the murky bass and rickety drums of "The Convergence". Lag, who has released on Mord, keeps the pressure up with the chant-sampling minimalism of "Machine", before Unbalance brings down the curtain with "Blood Lust", an acid-seared tunnelling workout.

Review: Fresh from mixing the latest instalment of Fabric's mix series, Panorama Bar resident Steffi launches a new sub-label, Dolly Deluxe. Many of the tracks that feature on Fabric 94 also appear across the first four EPs on this offshoot. STFSHD is a new collaborative effort between the label owner and Shed and the fractured break beats and atmospheric textures of "1.0" and "1.5" kick start the new sub-label's first edition, Dollydeluxe1.
Francesco De Bellis is best known for his electronic disco output as Mr Cisco, but as L.u.c.a., he drops the lush ambience of "Echo 1", which is also the opening salvo on the Fabric mix. Working with long-term friend Martyn, Steffi drops the Artificial Intelligence-influenced "No Life on the Surface", while Unbalance closes out the first release with the jittery beats of "Freedom".

Review: Oscar Mulero's Polegroup label closes the year with a mammoth compilation that defines the current state of the techno nation. As Unknown Landscapes shows, it is a diverse place. There's droning ambience from Daphne RXX, while Reeko, Reggy Van Oers and Mike Parker deliver bleep-heavy, hypnotic groove that draw on the influence of F.U.S.E and Sandwell District. Heads-down loopy fare is also catered for - with the spiky percussion and bleak filters of Jonas Koop's "Fu Factor" standing out - and the form also revisits the rough, analogue sound of the 90s thanks to Karl Bult and American scene veteran DJ Hyperactive's contributions.

Review: The Amsterdam On And On party promoters celebrate six years with a compilation that varies from the full on to the stripped back and spaced out. Residing in the functional, DJ-friendly corner is Moerbeck, whose "Weapon's In Your Head" is a tough, banging workout led by slamming beats and a receptive tonal riff. Yan Cook's "Freefall" is more subtle but just as effective as its filtered and reverberated claps unfold over a dense groove, and Jeff Rushin "Tusk" is a classic slice of freaked out minimalism, its pointillist hook pushed over a pummeling, tribal drum track. At the other end of the spectrum Aiken's "Reductive" marries spaced out synths with a stepping arrangement, while Terence Fixmer's "Moments" is spacey Detroit techno at its very finest.

Review: Russian producer Alexander Matlahov has put out an impressive series of records over the past few years, even getting his work remixed by Steffi and Bleak. These tracks go some way to explaining why he has done so well. "Rhythm Slave" is the more functional dance floor track, based on insistent pulses and supported by bruising drums. There is some reference to Unbalance's musical back-ground via breezy synths and some entertaining whistles, but that part of the release is best covered by "Deep Journey". While the drums are tough and steely and acid lines pulses away mercilessly, it's the shimmering synths at the heart of the arrangement that really impress.

Review: Celebrating its first ten releases, the Counter Pulse label has commissioned remixes from some of underground techno's finest producers. At the peak-time end of the spectrum, there's AnD's distorted, acid-cracked version of Lodbrok's "Oil" and Bas Mooy's creaky, creepy version of Dead Sound's "Laughing At You", while Exium adds an element of musicality to Paul Boex's "Perfect Love" with some churning chords. However, the most rewarding reshapes here are the abstract ventures. Iori's take on Wata Igarashi's "Paranoid" is a fathomic, multi-layered arrangement and Giorgio Gigli turns Logotech's "Bohemian Grove" into a pulsing, predatory rhythm with all the menace and malevolence of an Orphx track.

Review: Gynoid Audio's Counter Pulse series returns with Logotech and Unbalance at the helm. Logotech's "Bohemian Grove" is a 10 minute epic filled with dry percussion and apocalyptic drones; Giorgio Gigli is the ideal man to provide the remix, turning in a gently swelling revision with pulsating kicks. Unbalance meanwhile delivers "Freeze", a frosty slice of swung techno with shuddering vocals, while Inigo Kennedy takes things into deeply hypnotic territory with his droning take on the fractured original.
