Review: For almost a quarter century, Delsin has been putting out some of the world's best electronic music. That situation didn't change in 2023. As this compilation demonstrates, the label still has an unerring knack of releasing music from the more esoteric end of the spectrum. Reedale Rise and VC-118A both deliver atmospheric strains of electro. On "Late Night Kyiv", Yan Cook pushes towards the dance floor to deliver an emotive tribute to his hometown. The compilation also consolidates Delsin's connection to Dutch artists. Steffan Robbers' Terrace project yields the emotive "Model A", while Eevo Lute co-founder Wladimir M drops the understated pulses and mysterious vocals of "Zie Het Onder Ogen / Y Faire Face". And Steve Rachmad shines as always, with the seductive Detroit techno of "Teknitron".

Review: Trust has pulled out all the stops for the first volume of the TRUST XY split series. DJ Glow's "The City" was on the label's debut release in the late 90s. For this EP, it gets remixed by /DL/MS/, who turns it into a stripped back piece of frazzled electro funk, led by a pulsating bass and bleeding acid. Keith Tucker's take on Microthol's "Binary Systems" is a darker affair, with the Aux 88/Optic Nerve man dropping a bass-heavy, low-slung groove that teems with dark synth lines and menacing vocal samples. The Exaltics pick up the pace to rework DJ Stingray's "Herd Instinct", with an ominous bass and atmospheric textures unfolding over a frenetic rhythm. Rounding off this stellar package is Privacy's downtempo take on VC-118A's "Eha".

Review: Through aliases like Mohalo and Multicast Dynamics circulating the realms of dub techno and ambient, Samuel van Dijk's VC-118a alias has always been the producer's safe harbour for electro. Keeping his beats dubby and atmospheres deep in Spiritual Machines, VC-118a's fourth album for Delsin (and first following Inside from 2019), presents a distinct connection with glitch, crackle and pop, with transmogrified vocals peppered throughout the LP. By creating his own complement of sample banks, software racks and devices in making the LP, van Dijk was able to work with a hybridised analogue-digital system purely of his own making and the results are abstract, downtempo and hugely atmospheric. Dubbed-out ambient electro with a newfound glitch. Quality.

Review: Samuel Van Dijk aka VC-118A follows 2016's Shift Register with another effortless, elegantly executed artist album. Moving from the frazzled dub techno of "Tide" - a sound more commonly associated with his Mohlao alias - into sleek electro jams such as "Pcb" and "Dither" and eerie ambient passages like "Metric Spaces", the Dutch producer's third long player shows that he is one of modern electronic music's most versatile producers. While most of Inside adheres to an understated sensibility, there is also a playful undercurrent here, audible on the stepping rhythm and frazzled acid of "Fm", while "Hiss" ranks among his most dance floor friendly techno output.

Review: Delsin has been a purveyor of deep electronic music for the best part of two decades - and as this compilation demonstrates, 2018 was no exception. It moves in sound from re-issued electro classics by Lost Trax and VC-118A - the latter's chilling string-led "Sepia" is particularly beautiful - into Yagya's brittle deep house/techno and the gentle dub techno of Vril. Even on the more uptempo tracks, such as the throbbing acid of Artefakt's "Falling Into The Light" and the robotic, clanging rhythms of Yan Cook's "Dead Satellite", there is a subtlety and depth of sound absent in most labels' identities. Here's to another twenty years.

Review: Originally issued on AC Records back in 2015, Vaxna now gets a re-release on Delsin. Like the Dutch label's recent reissuing of mystery act Lost Trax, the appearance of this EP is timely. VC-118A aka Samuel Van Dijk has an impressive back catalogue, and Vaxna is one of his most impressive electro records. The title track's spiky drums support atmospheric washes and brooding bass, while on "Sepia", he adds some chilling strings, adding further to the release's eerie undercurrent. "25h" is more down beat and sounds not too dissimilar from the output of the Mohlao project that Van Dijk sometimes releases under, but this is an electro record through and through, as the slinky rhythm of "Versicolor" demonstrates.

Review: It's been 18 months since Samuel Van Dijk last donned the VC-118 alias. Back then, he was releasing sophomore album Shift Register on Tabernacle. Here, he resurfaces on Frustrated Funk with a five-track EP that tends towards the introspective and melancholy. Of course, there are still notable dancefloor moments - see the locked-in analogue house beats, dubbed-out electronics and held-note bass of "Permutation" and the mid-tempo electro swing of "Verdictia" - but for the most part the EP is a laidback and poignant affair. It's a side of Van Dijk that we don't see that often, but one that he really should explore more. Certainly, the ghostly "Enter" and sorrowful "Sequence" are among the most memorable tracks in his already impressive catalogue.

Review:  Ireland's Lunar Disko is back in the game with another one of their immensely entertaining collaborative EPs, and this one is featuring a selection of artists whom we feel particularly fond of. For starters, our man man John Heckle is in the place repping the UK-side of techno, leading the lines with the wonky, off-kilter electro-acid cut named "Steel Sky", while label regular Conan comes through with an insanely lo-fi techno cut called "Neptune Racing" that feels like it was made in the basement of a sweaty Chicago studio circa 1989. 214, who is another familiar face, drops an aerial attack in the form of a paranoid, brooding artillery of glitchy electro by the name of "Deep Ellum", whereas VC-118A's relatively more placid "Face The Waves" delves into a much deeper and floaty downtempo mode for the early, early sets...

Review: Earlier in 2015, Samuel Van Dijk once again donned the VC-118A guise to deliver arguably his strongest release to date, Propulse on Tabernacle Records. Happily, B76 Over Land maintains a similar standard, with Van Dijk serving up a pleasingly cold batch of machine jams. Highlights include the fuzzy, cowbell-heavy Rotterdam electro of "Vapor", the skittering techno drone of "Vex", and the frankly wayward, dark ambience of closer "Din". That said, we're also fans of the superb title track, which expertly combines fluid, watery melodies and drifting chords with clattering, mechanical percussion.
