Amps On Route One - (5:37) 138 BPM
Review: Greta Levska continues her formidable run on Get Physical Music with an Ibiza compilation sampler which follows her 2023 album Flex (for Poker Flat) and EPs for GP like Club Jupiter and Cala Da Bronx. On display here are tracks by JoJo in "Eclipse" with its euphoric progressive house and trance style, to Madd Rod's '80s inspired drive time "Jumping Jacks". Furthermore there's some electro B-boy bangers in Computer Madness' "Travelling Back To The Planet Rock" - NYC in the house - which falls alongside Hammer's disco-inspired "Red Alert". With all that mentioned, there's no overlooking Levska's own "Amps On Route One" - the inspired opener to her piping hot Ibiza mix.

Return Of The Luddites - "Scream Into The Darkness" - (4:52) 139 BPM Hot
Review: Laurent Garnier and Scan X's label does a great job in showcasing emerging and established talent, and this split release is no exception. The brilliantly named Return Of The Luddites deliver the raw electro-techno of "Scream Into The Darkness". In stark contrast, Detroit techno-inspired tracks also loom large, courtesy of Skatman's string-filled "Tribute To A Dancefloor" and Squal G's more ominous "Waiting 4U". Mirroring Garnier's own wide-ranging tastes, the release also features the call and response hip-hop/drum'n'bass crossover of Joaquim Plossu, Salem Focus and Phoebe Train's "Theory Of The Tide". Taking the tempo down, Yes Basketball's "Next" is a slowed down, bugged out beatsy track.

Blackbelt Engh Rhythm Combo - "Frydenlyn" - (6:38) 135 BPM Hot
Christian Engh - "Khonsu" - (6:42) 135 BPM
Review: Ostensibly a response to techno being 'in such a sorry and predictable state', Full Pupp's latest compilation goes off in a number of wonderfully captivating tangents. Label owner Prins Thomas' "Mere Apokalypso" is a tripped-out groove, while his take on Synk's "Tool Mix" is an acid-laced chugger. In contrast, JaddajaddaPlay's "Bird No Bird" goes down a percussive route. Despite the title, techno does make an appearance. Blackbelt Engh Rhythm Combo's "Frydenlyn" is a rolling tribal affair, while trance influences bubble to the surface on Christian Engh's dubbed out "Khonsu" and Karolinski's high-paced, melodic "Slutt A Mase Eg Har Ikkje Spelt Pa Ei Veke".

Skitzoid - "Fortuned" (original mix) - (2:57) 135 BPM
Review: The team at Dirty Kitchen rave have done a great job over the recent months in uncovering and showcasing some of the most exciting new breakbeat action about, with this latest compilation being the second of their 'WE ARE DKR' series. Featuring the likes of Phrentic, Skin Teeth, Skitzoid, Zero Dark and more, we can see that this project packs a serious punch, exploring the full spectrum of modern breakbeat ideas. Our highlights that have an immediate standout would have to include Ale-DarkNoise's heavyweight 'Pump Up' arrangement, a super vibrant thunder drop, alongside the more liquefied synth work of Zero Dark's 'Losing You'.

Littlefoot - "Final Hourz" - (4:07) 138 BPM
Played by: Step2 Records
Review: Next up from the awesome Wot U Sayin imprint, a vibrant collection of dancefloor ready bubblers, seeing five artists land with their front foot forward. We open up with De Flurb, arriving with a crunchy combination of neurotic synthesiser twists and 2 stepper rhythmic feels, followed by both the breaksy abandon of Lexiecode's 'Skanky Girl' and heavily syncopated subby sinks of 'Spicy Dust' from Outselect. Finally, two additional rollers make their way forward, with Littlefoot's square-bass driven pulsar in 'Final Hourz' and Haavo's super spacey soundscaping on 'Outcome' providing the EP's final tasty touches. Top work!

DJ Dreamer - "Bye Bye House (Train)" - (5:20) 138 BPM
Review: Mexican label Short Attention have just a handful of vinyl releases to their name and now step out into the digital arena for the very first time. Like their previous wax outings, SAD001 is a Various Artists offering and highly eclectic in style, ranging from DJ Dreamer's pacey, almost juke-ish house opener with its nostalgically rave-y female vocal, via Groove Selecta's deep and mellow 'Bamboo', to the more melodic stylings of Vantane's 'Hommage to John', synth-y Detroit-inspired techno from Daemian and WhoreHouse Sequences and the ruff 'n' raw breakbeat house of Kanyalang!'s 'Destroyer Of Worlds'. Always good to support new labels, so get involved!

Arsonist Recorder - "Heat Seek" - (4:25) 135 BPM Hot
Syrte & Visions Of Glosters - "Jovian Pearl" - (4:51) 136 BPM
Review: The Occupants series is a split release project from Science Cult, the label that artists like Carl Finlow, Cygnus and Umek's Zeta Reticula project all call home. This first volume covers electro, but in the broadest sense. Thee J Johanz' "Woodpecker" is an acid-fried break beat track. At the other end of the spectrum, Aura Nox's "Mutiny On The Voyage To Azimut" sees the Science Cult artist voyage to the sound's outer limits. Remaining in that space is Blixaboy's dub-tinged "Bushido Initiative". St. Theodore presents a more ominous sound on "No Future", an arrangement that is led by a punishing sub-bass, and for a pure futuristic hit, it is hard to better the skeletal rhythms of Arsonist Recorder's "Heat Seek".

Zobol - "3rd Planet" (original mix) - (7:19) 136 BPM
Flatliner - "The Awakening" (VIP mix) - (6:20) 138 BPM
Review: Amentec have done a great job in assembling this top level collection of new school breakbeat action, welcoming no less than 14 artists inside across 13 hard hitting creations. The exciting thing about the project is that it leaves no breaks-inspired stone unturned, featuring the likes of Sound Synthesis, Inkipak, DAWL, Flatliner and more. From the intense, arcade style arrangements of Sub Oscillator's 'Ketzer' remix from Difool, to the more abstract acidity of Bobo's bulging 'Club Proxima', we see such an exciting range on display. Our highlights therefore have to include both the classy club-ready bops of Ova Doce's 'Keep On', next to the cloud-lining euphoria of MOY's 'Jovian Sunrise'. A truly top quality collection.

Review: Long live team Alpha Pup, an excellently organised project that have moved onto the third edition of their epic '20/20' compilation series, exploring the most lethal reaches of underground bass music. Featuring hard hitting originals from the likes of Ivy Lab, Dismantle, Rocks FOE, Bakey and more, it's clear that the team have gone all out on this collection, with sounds ranging as wide as the hardcore inspired mysticism of 'Naananaana' from Rohaan, to the industrial techno-flavours of Ila Brugal's 'Cynical'. The whole project packs a punch, but our highlights would have to include both the intense metallic madness of Deft's 'OKURTHEEXPERT', alongside Manni Dee's monstrous 'Wet Slide' creation. Crystal Geometry - "The Intelligence Briefing" - (3:46) 138 BPM
Ket Robinson - "La Passion Tue L'Amour" - (6:30) 138 BPM
Review: KR celebrates its fifth birthday with this diverse techno compilation. KR050 gets off to a frenetic start with Clotur's "M33, a peak-time track that resonates to building acid and a firing, angular rhythm. Similar energy levels also fuel the grainy techno of Joton's "Cyber Machinery" and Roll Dann's contribution - the chord-heavy banger that is "Suga Nit White". But it's not all peak-time tracks. Benales looks to Detroit for inspiration to deliver the raw minimalism of "Undo", while a more contemporary take on stripped back dance music prevails on the murky "Lost In The Loop" by KUSS. And Metapattern's "25 Min" is a distinctive, ebm-inspired jam.

Paper Cuts #7

Aniso Tropics - "Apricot Memorex" (original mix) - (4:40) 135 BPM
Review: Volume 7 in the series but for once we can't really say "you should know what to expect by now" because what this compilation really goes to show is just what an eclectic and diverse camp the long-running Manchester label has become, with tracks on 'Paper Cuts #7' ranging from the near-ambient Balearica of Aniso Tropics' opener 'Apricot Memorex' to the self-explanatory synth-y stylings of La Guardia de la Luz's 'Trance Aleman de los 90s' via the uptempo strut of Jahn Solo's 'Disco'. So all we can really do is point you in the direction of some standout cuts, which for this reviewer would include D.S.D's luscious 'Just Can't Stop' and Benny Pitcher's 'Transatlantic Motion', which is like a little musical nod to the days when Paper comps were called 'Splinter'.

Skj?ld - "Stearic Acid" - (6:11) 135 BPM
Yrsen - "Sonic Encounters" - (5:39) 136 BPM
Review: The Exhibit series aims to showcase emerging artists who operate at the raw end of the techno spectrum. While not a new act, label owners Slam get the ball rolling with their own "Exhibit 3", which revisits the raw, jacking sound of their Snapshots release. EJA's "Detachment Theory" represents a more contemporary take on underground techno. Led by a pumping, heads-down groove and relentless, doubled-up claps, it also features mysterious synth builds. Similarly atmospheric sounds inhabit Skjöld's "Stearic Acid" - but on this occasion, they are woven into a stripped back, percussive groove. Favouring a more abrasive direction, ANNĒ's "Keinlicht" revolves around a visceral rhythm and ominous synth lines, echoing vintage Steve Bicknell.

Afghan Headspin & Gruv42 - "MAD 4 DA BASSLINE" (original mix) - (4:45) 136 BPM
Review: The Dirty Rave Kitchen crew have pulled together a very tasty box of treats with this latest compilation drop as the second edition of their 'UNIVERSAL BREAKS' series sees them unleash naught but havoc. Featuring fifteen fiery originals and the likes of ALT SHIFT, SKIN TEETH, WeZ WhaTevR, Afghan Headspin and more, this is definitely a collection we would recommend taking in across a long form listening format. However, if we were to unleash our highlights, the pure ferocity of Paul Bassrock & WoTeR's 'In A World Where Music Had No Future', the abstract melodic pulses of 'OnDaMike's 'The Hills' and the glitching synthetic befuddlement of Tommy Lee Bones's 'Stalker Blocker' would be our primary jump outs.

Inner City Blues EP

Aladarus & Shabaam - "Colossal" - (5:50) 136 BPM
Review: Planet Rhythm continues its commitment to supporting new artists on this fine split release. Shabaam & Aladarus kick-start the EP with "Colossal", their debut for the label. Led by surging chords and tight percussive bursts, it lives up to its title. Lenny San's "Orbital" follows in a similar vein, albeit with a more intense take, as chords bluster and build over tough kicks and insistent hi hats. OFF / GRID, who has become a regular artist on Planet Rhythm, fuses tight percussion and steely drums with a looped synth on "Inner City Blues". Maintaining this tough but musical theme, Rove Ranger's "Onakum" integrates vocal snatches with hissing hi hats and dubby stabs.

Review: This latest helping of futuristic goodness from the Top Drawer Digital team sees them dive into their third full length compilation drop, once again expanding the 'Abstractions' series with a solid helping of new school breakbeat flavour. Featuring 36 creations, this selection is a DJ's secret weapon for certain, with the likes of Kefford, Sub Fusion, Outrage, Sanxion, S.U.R.E and Nyxen alongside many more delivering top quality additions to the track listing. For us, this is a project best absorbed through the attached continuous DJ MIX, but our standouts would have to include the brain-boggling wave synth work of The Rumblist's 'Mind Blown', alongside the more throwback metallic dinks of Lucas's 'Light & High Beauty' original. Sensational stuff from all involved.

Colin Curtis Presents Jazz Dance Fusion 4
Various
Miho Nobuzane - "Ponteio" - (6:50) 138 BPM
Review: In an industry where the term 'veteran' is bandied about far too freely, Colin Curtis is the real deal! His DJing career goes all the way back to legendary Northern Soul club The Golden Torch in the late 60s. In the 70s, he was a resident at Blackpool Mecca alongside Ian Levine, where he became one of the first DJs to introduce the more modern sound of jazz-funk to the scene. By the mid-80s he'd become an early UK champion of house, too, but these days it's on the jazz-dance scene that he's most revered - and here he serves up a 26-track connoisseur's collection that shows why. Ranging from straight-up jazz and soul to soulful house and leaning heavily towards the Afro- and Latin-flavoured, some of these cuts are recent offerings, some date back as far as the 70s, but on jazz-dance floors, all will go down a treat.

DJ T-1000 - "Three One Three" - (5:46) 136 BPM
Kerrie - "Systematique Intellijent" - (5:49) 138 BPM
Review: The latest compilation on Soma's offshoot label Avoidant explores compelling variants of the electro sound. DJ T-1000's "Three One Three" starts the collection in atmospheric mode. Featuring steely percussive crackles and robotic vocals, it is reminiscent of fellow Detroit producer Juan Atkins' Model 500 project. NiKiT's "Ice Wave" inhabits a similar territory as a powerful sub-bass underpins crystalline synths. Mechanoreceptor's "Invisible Dynamics" delivers a bass-heavy groove and ELEKTROTECHNIK serves up a dystopian vision of the sound on the chilling, Rother-esque "Parasit". The compilation veers closer to conventional 4/4 tracks thanks to the industrial-fuelled electro-techno of Bloody Mary's "Surrender". Overall though, the focus on Planet Reborn is electro's more esoteric forms, as DJ Astrobee's ERP-sounding "Synccc" so wonderfully demonstrates.

Next, Enrico Dragony gives us an old school thumper in 'The Special East', followed by DJ W!LD's more choppy bubbler in 'Blah Blah Fuckin Blah'. To close, Stefan Dubs firstly steps up on 'Awaken Dub', a Tempa-style throwback, packed to the rafters with warbling LFO madness and digitised horn themes, before the smoother electronic textures of Pepe Elle's 'Get Rockin' let's loose a top notch swan song to close things off. William Arist - "Form" - (4:55) 139 BPM
Review: SHDW's label marks its twentieth release with this weighty compilation. Drawing on some of the most respected names in techno, volume three is full of peak-time bangers. There's the lean, rolling techno of Chlar's "Inside Us", while Dax J showers the listener with waves of acid tones on the steely, peak-time "Celestial Dub". The Advent's "Randomized" is a bruising and quite brilliant industrial techno workout. While Blawan's hyperactive "Don't You Dare Squawk At Me" hovers just below the 160 bpm mark, not all of the compilation is as intense. Vocals are mixed with chiming chords on Gary Beck's "Fold" and Z.I.P.P.O's "Broken Game" is a deep Detroit techno track.

JXXXO's "Pensando En El Nombre" is a chord-heavy, looped techno groove, while Le Martz' "Dm Loop" follows a similar, albeit more melodic path. Moving up the intensity level, Joaquin Ruiz delivers acid-splattered minimalism in the shape of "Disnomia", while on a more ghetto tip is the banging, sample-heavy "Kim Wexler" by Bondaruk. Playa D'en Bossa Ibiza Series, Vol 14
Various
Hardware - "Static Resistance" (Oss Vs. Luigi remix) - (7:04) 135 BPM
Review: Volume 14 in the series, so regular buyers should know what to expect by now. For the uninitiated through, the 'Playa D'en Bossa' series harks back to an earlier era of 'Balearic', before the term became synonymous with ethereal chill-out grooves, whale song and fluttering Spanish guitars, and when it referred instead to an electic, open-minded approach to programming DJ sets. Accordingly, the 23 tracks here range from house and nu-disco (see cuts from Dis-Connection, Alex Twitchy and Dr Basement) to trance and EDM (see, eg, Tom-E Project's 'Shine' or Little Madam's 'Yeah Uh Uh Ah'), much of it served with a distinct Europop twist, with Joma's 'Space Virus' and Nick Saley's 'Bengal' among the highlights.

Cyberdine Systems Corp. - "Program State" (Legowelt remix) - (6:41) 135 BPM
Review: Remixes for days in the haus with Pre-Rolled Joints Vol 2: Remix Collection, Pt. 2 by Unknown To The Unknown. Kicking of with a sultry Kelis vibe in Ludwig A.F's remix of "Sweat It Out", other highlights include Hashman Deejay doing the business on a Ruf Dug number, Andras turning over some proto-techno on Bell Towers, with Shed going all time on UTTU boss man's "Bit Too Deep". Willie Burns drops a spooky remake of Max's D's legendary "High Life", next to some reliable Legowelt wares, a Roza Terenzi rework of Assembler Code and final dose of Fantastic Man who goes deep with a luscious mix of DJ Shark's "Closer".

Eth:er - "Requiem" - (4:30) 135 BPM
Review: Over the course of 2023, there is no denying that Incurzion Audio were one of the most impressive imprints out there, with a fantastic focus on unveiling a wide range of new dubstep talent. This time around, they commence the year with a heavyweight compilation drop, inviting 30 artists inside for the fourth edition of their 'We Are Incurzion' series. From the epic soundscaping of Gendo's 'Marble Elephant' to the emotive synth melodies of Lokal's 'Flatline' and more minimal percussive clicks of 'Ballistic' from Undercentrum & UMBRA, we get a fantastic array of electronic sounds to enjoy. For us, the two standouts include both the stomach-turning sub crunches of RWB's 'Vask Des Na' and of course the mind-melting acidity of Eth:er's monstrous 'Requiem' original. Awesome work across the board!

RDG & DubApe - "Brok Out" - (4:59) 138 BPM Hot
Review: Next up from the legendary team at Boka, a fresh look at the new school dubstep wave, featuring a solid collection of artists for 'The Tank Rolls On', a vibrant compilation indeed. Featuring the likes of steppers heavyweights such as Chad Dubz, 3WA, Spaceape & RDG, this is a collection that is sure to cause some serious dancefloor damage. It's a project that packs serious depth, all the way from the minimal percussive murmurs and subby sweeps of 'Jammin Tek' from Gremlinz & AxH, through to the emotive, asian-inspired string work of 'Makeya' from Thunaklap and unnerving rhythmic shuffles of Tinky's 'Totemz'. A truly powerful look at dubstep in 2024.

MPH & Slick Don - "Flex" - (2:50) 135 BPM
Review: As ever, it is a truly exciting time to be a CruCast fan, with this latest christmas compilation seeing some of the biggest names in the business join forces for a ferocious throwdown. The tracklisting itself is made up of non-stop bass stardom, with the likes of heavyweights such as Skepsis, Kanine, Darkzy, Window Kid, Turno, Disrupta, Original Sin and Sub Zero being just a handful that immediately jump out. The project features a range of heaters from across 2023, including the hard hitting sounds of Zero's 'Acting Like ILY', the sizzling synthesiser swipes of Amplify & Nu Elementz's 'See Me' and of course the unforgettable euphoria of AC13 and Grace Barton's 'Mesmerised'. A damn fine way to close off another successful CruCast year.

Linear System & Kimahri - "Vessel" - (5:43) 137 BPM
Review: Still truckin' and rock solid as always is Planet Rhythm - a label continuously delivering new releases and consistently holding its position in unearthing emerging talents that are shaping the future of robust, diverse techno. This Risk Management EP serves us four more numbers and kicks off with its man of the hour, klint, with a pumping industrial groove track "Flacon". Linear System teams up with Kimahri on a wet and atmospheric "Vessel" while the title-track of this EP goes to Rove Ranger's dank and tunnelling lead cut - followed by some deep and Detroit inspired "Line Of Sight" by Red Rooms.

Review: What an absolute treat we have here from the Smoking Sessions team, as they team up to deliver the highly anticipated third edition of their flagship 'The Sessions' compilation project. The great and the good have gathered for this latest runout, with the likes of Synkro, Rowl, Mercy, Audialist and Synpal being just some of the heavyweights we see getting involved. Across the vast 14 track-long listing, we have picked out three immediate standouts, those being the spacious synth work of 'Open Case' from The Nice Planet, the stunning drum crunches of Lewis B's 'Dark Clouds' and Escapism Refuge's synth-heavy sweeper in 'Nightmares'. Top stuff from all involved.

Review: The Garage Shared crew have always done a fantastic job of cultivating and pushing new UKG talent forward, with their continuously running 'Class Of' series doing a great job of showcasing that energy. This year it's another jam-packed event, welcoming 16 fiery new originals to the table, with the likes of BVNQUET, Soulecta, Clarcq, Purple Velvet Curtains and more all joining the party with a fabulous array of original UKG flavour. Despite so many established faces making this year's pickings, it's the newcomers that impress us the most, with Bill Bond's 'Nobody Like You' original providing it us with a quirky tap through new school garage fusion and Ashdun's 'Plasticine' original injecting a real sense of youth into the project. Another prime box of originality from all involved!

Machine Woman - "Heavy Cream" - (4:25) 139 BPM
Vril - "Boom To The Moon" - (8:04) 136 BPM
Review: For almost a quarter century, Delsin has been putting out some of the world's best electronic music. That situation didn't change in 2023. As this compilation demonstrates, the label still has an unerring knack of releasing music from the more esoteric end of the spectrum. Reedale Rise and VC-118A both deliver atmospheric strains of electro. On "Late Night Kyiv", Yan Cook pushes towards the dance floor to deliver an emotive tribute to his hometown. The compilation also consolidates Delsin's connection to Dutch artists. Steffan Robbers' Terrace project yields the emotive "Model A", while Eevo Lute co-founder Wladimir M drops the understated pulses and mysterious vocals of "Zie Het Onder Ogen / Y Faire Face". And Steve Rachmad shines as always, with the seductive Detroit techno of "Teknitron".

Review: As befits the Tronic label's catalogue, the latest edition of Rockets is a diverse dance floor affair. It includes the hypnotic, deep house of Sofian's "FAKIR", which sits alongside the tough, Sound Factory-influenced groove of That Kid Chris' "Where's The Love". On the techno front, the compilation also has a lot to offer. Agent Orange DJ's "It's Gonna Get" revolves around an intense, building rhythm that has parallels with Luke Slater's remix of Joey Beltram's "Fork Lift". Rods Franchin's "Experience" goes down a more percussive route, while the compilation reaches a dramatic conclusion on Lucas Aguilera's "Tranzicion". Led by hardcore-themed synth builds and devastating snare rolls, it makes for an intense finale.

Review: COD3 QR's latest compilation album, curated by Laurent Garnier and Scan X, embodies the essence of eclecticism, open-mindedness, and non-conformity within the electronic music realm. The journey unfolds with French DJ and Electro-Techno composer Seroplexx's "Alerte Rouge" marked by his seamless transition from an acoustic background to modular synths and classic electronics at the fore. 20 Years Of Phonica
Various
Daniel Avery - "Bell" - (6:08) 135 BPM
Review: In 2003, amid a shifting landscape of closing record stores and evolving electronic music genres, Phonica Records emerged as a haven for dance and electronic music enthusiasts. Founded by Simon Rigg, Tom Relleen, and Heidi Van Den Amstel with backing from The Vinyl Factory - Phonica aimed to be a welcoming hub for all genres. Starting quietly, the shop gradually gained a strong reputation, fueled by the founders' ties to Koobla Records. Phonica thrived in its early years by championing emerging genres like electro house and minimal-micro house from labels like Kompakt and Perlon. In 2007, the Phonica record label was born, evolving into a platform for both staff and emerging talents, featuring early releases by now-established artists such as Peggy Gou and Four Tet. In 2023, celebrating its 20th anniversary, Phonica showcases its journey with 20 Years Of Phonica - a compilation boasting 18 exclusive tracks from established and rising artists across the label's diverse musical spectrum. Michel Lauriola - "Intuition" - (6:08) 137 BPM
Oliver Rosemann - "Qubits" - (5:20) 137 BPM
Review: Like its predecessor, the second volume of Exhibit shines a light on tough, hypnotic techno. Diego Oroquieta's "Friccion" captures the more atmospheric end of this dance floor-focused sound, as wave upon wave of tones build over a rolling groove. A similar approach is audible on Paula Koski's "Fever Coat". Led by doubled-up claps and a steely rhythm, Koski weaves in hypnotic bleeps - the end result is not radically dissimilar to vintage Function. The compilation also showcases a more percussive style. Audible on Michel Lauriola's drum-heavy "Intuition", it finds its fullest expression on the hard-edged loops of Klint's peak-time banger, "The Encounter".

Tripeo - "Andromeda" - (6:52) 138 BPM
Review: The second instalment of Temporal Variation's split series covers a range of styles. There are ambient drones from Pyramidal Decode and dense tribal grooves from Magna Pia and Joton. Raising the tempo and intensity levels, Mohamad Kafarsoussa drops the metallic rhythm of "Cowardly", while Matthieu Benjamin drops the visceral minimalism of "Sorrow". Tripeo goes deep for the bubbling Detroit groove and soaring strings of "Andromeda", while Arthur Robert's "Indigenous" is a similarly influenced but more introspective take on this sound. With all proceeds going to a charity that helps children and their families in Palestine, there is an even greater incentive to buy this release.

Review: Twenty-five years is a long time in any field. In the fast-moving world of electronic music, it's practically an eternity. That Turbo has managed not just to last that long but also to remain fresh says a lot about Tiga's immaculate A&Ring. On Turbo 25, we see the form this takes. There's "You So Pretty", his cheeky electro collaboration with long-time Turbo collaborator Jori Hulkkonen. Audion and Seth Troxler also celebrate the landmark anniversary with the searing techno of "Hate", while The Hacker goes down the industrial route with the slamming "Forcefield". Tiga continues to flirt with pop with the Soulwax edit of "Woke". However, the fact that he has commissioned Gesloten Cirkel of Murder Capital fame to rework "Easy" means he remains as connected as ever with techno and electro's underground. Here's to the next quarter century.

Divine Mechanic - "Clutch" - (6:09) 138 BPM
Review: This split series gets off to a frenetic start courtesy of Albero Tolo. The Italian producer's "Top View" is a linear minimal techno track, led by insistent percussion. In a similar vein is Danny Wabbit's "XX", which injects a sense of mystery into the stripped back sound. In contrast, Alessandro Cocco goes deeper for "Paradox". While still maintaining a clubby pace, its dubby beats and swinging rhythm is dense and multi-layered, revealing new intricacies as it progresses. Divine Mechanic's "Clutch" follows a different route; peppered with insistent tones and featuring spaced out filters, it makes a gloriously trippy contribution to this compilation.

At 17 tracks large, including three exclusive numbers from the artist herself, it's a mix taking inspiration from techno through electronic pop and the intense sound design of acts like Pan Sonic.
