Review: The fifth instalment of this series is a reminder of the impact that KMS had on dance music . Right across the spectrum, Kevin Saunderson's releases shaped the future. A case in point is Esser'ay's "Forces", one of the KMS owner's many pseudonyms. The track's use of rumbling sub-bass and booming vocals proved influential in both garage and drum'n'bass - and it still sounds fresh. Part 5 features other similar landmark tracks. "Just Want Another Chance", a Saunderson project as Reese, retains its eerie, otherworldly sensibility despite the passage of over three decades. However, it's not all about looking to the past. The evergreen "Rock to the Beat" is remodelled here by Smith & Selway, setting it in a brooding, pulsating direction.

It features artists such as D.O.D. with the infectious funky house anthem "Set Me Free", legend Armin Van Buuren with the melodic euphoria of "Dayglow" featuring Stuart Crichton on vocals, as well as AVIRA with the deep and sensual cut "Dancing Alone" feat. Review: Promoting global dance music from its offices throughout the world, Armada Music represents and cultivates the creative exploits of some of the biggest players in the game. Their end of year celebration comes in the form of Armada Club Classics featuring a whopping 30 tracks. Highlights come from Israeli dark disco merchant Moscoman, whose extended remix of Three Drives On A Vinyl's "Greece 2000" is as slinky and hypnotic as you like it, while man of the moment Kevin De Vries likewise delivers an extended remix; his is of Chicane's late '90s anthem "Saltwater" (feat Moya Brennan). Elsewhere, Eelke Kleijn will captivate you with his mesmerising "Blue Fear" Extended Night mix by label boss Armin Van Buuren, and for something with a bit more stomp to it there's the ever reliable Honey Dijon with an extended remix of legend Harry 'Choo Choo' Romero's classic "Tania".

Review: With the wealth of Miami Music Week compilations out there allow us to filter through the bunch to bring you a selection of Armada Music must-haves. A big label player in the EDM scene, the Dutch hub scoops out this mega compilation taking in a wealth of new and recognised producers, remixers to extended rarities and bonus tracks. Kicking off with Loud Luxury's summer glazed ballad "Cold Feet", Lost Frequencies, too, plays on a poppy, R&B and folk tip in "Beat Of My Heart". For the real club vibes look no further than Claude VonStroke's "All My People In The House" - Detroit Grand Pubahs, where love you too - with Kevin De Vries delivering straight up techno vibes to Chicane classic "Saltwater". Find the neon-lit trance in Kasablanca's "Hold Me Close" and the EDM rave in epic compilation closer: "Light Side Of The Harmony (FYH 200 Anthem)".
Review: Everybody's main man when it comes to trance delivers another defining volume of his State Of Trance compilation series which once again delivers a smorgasbord of pop-infused classics to set off into the sunset with. Opening with Avicii's extended remix to Armin Van Buren's own vocal hit "Drowning" featuring Laura V, the compilation also takes in Paul Oakenfold's all time classic "Southern Sun" via Tiesto's epic extended remix, to Ferry Corsten deeper, four-to-the-floor remix of Moby's heartstring pulling "Why Does My Heart Feel So Bad?". A truly inspiring journey accompanied furthermore by Above & Beyond's "On My Way To Heaven". If there was a soundtrack for the road to the pearly gates, this would be it.
Review: A state of trance in 2020 is where you want to be and with Armin Van Buuren at the controls it's the likes of vocalised Nicky Romero remixes and epic drops from Fatum that are fire starting the year. Album only tracks include the true rave ethics of Genix in "Giant Steps" to the classic dreamlike vocal sessions of Mark Schultze. Harder, techier rave material comes from Andrew Rayel X Chukiess & Whackboi with a mysterious classic bonus track "Coming Home" coming in at 20. Our pick: "The Thrillseekers present Hydra - After The Rain (extended mix)".
Review: With trance pretty much in vogue as it's ever been, who more do you trust to deliver this classic sound than Armin Van Buuren 'the master' himself. The best of 2019 compilation sees epic tales in trance come from Artic Moon with a refined strand of progressive beats and vocals in "Cool In My Disaster", with a similar vibe also heard on Jameson Tuller's "Black & White". Roman Messer turns in an uplifting number via "Dreaming" - the title suggesting enough - while Above & Beyond deliver the goods with the epic "Show Me Your Love". Ferry Corsten too makes an appearance with the star-gazing and emotional distorted "Surga", with AvB's marching cut "Turn It Up" a classic for peak time DJs everywhere.
