Review: Matthew Dear aka Audion always keeps things moving and forward-looking on his Ghostly International label. Mixing Detroit-schooled techno with electronica is the success behind the label, and we're always intrigued by what comes out of their camp. This time, we have a mini compilation made up of four tunes by an emerging collective of artists, all showcasing a different yet complementary take on deep techno. First up is Beacon with the warm, bubbly sounds of "Preserve", a late summer anthem to cool things down in the DJ sets, followed by Lord RAJA's "Sheep", a sublime slice of dusty house wizardry that sinks deep into the trenches of the genre. "Interior Architecture Structure" by Heathered Pearls is a soft-spoken house charmer perfectly geared for the opening sets, and Lusine's "Eyes Give In" breaks the 4/4 patterns down to a slow, deconstructed rhythm that sits just right with us. Sick.
