Review: Next up on Dubplate Supplier, a solo roll out from Veak, who graces us with a vibrant new original creation by the name 'Systematic', which on first listen already has us excited for the dancefloor damage it is undeniably going to cause. As far as original ideas go, this one takes the cake as a furious combination of sharpened drum processes, blipping arpeggio slides and moody subs all join forces, dancing together around a lethal selection of bass notation. As a standalone single, this one hits all the notes between nostalgia and new school, making it an instant cop for any dubstep fanatic.
Review: Veak makes us weak week after week! Coming on strong with the jungle pressure, flying like Tarzan, once again he dishes out more gold. 'Talkin Roots' goes heavy on those rattly snares and cheeky glimpses of the walk n skank riff. Pure carnage, it sets the energy levels for the rest of the EP. 'Operator' gets high on its own horn supply, 'Make Di Send' flexes an Eek A Mouse style vocal sample in falsetto style while 'Sound The Alarm' and 'Babylon Too Rough' shut down the EP with pure ruffage. Rootical manoeuvres.
Review: It's Veak week! Hell, who are we kidding? It's been Veak's decade. The man is a machine and his output isn't only relentless, it's top quality, too. Slamming breaks, big hooks, bulging basslines and all manner of classic jungle samples; Veak cooks up a timeless jungle feast on every occasion and this collection of previously unreleased/subscriber-only tracks is yet another reminder. Highlights include the big brassy horns of 'Eternally VIP', the outrageous energy of 'Get Me Out' and the pure lunacy and chaos of 'Fractured'. And that's just the tip of the iceberg. Veak is killing it!
Review: Oh gosh! Whether you're massively into Deep In The Jungle but you've got a few holes in your collection that need filling, or you've just started getting into this side of the music, this 60+ anthem collection is an amazing resource for all modern day junglists. Curated by bossman DJ Hybrid, this collection takes us back through the label's history and cherry picks an amazing array of peaktime wounders, bruisers and bubblers. To pick one or two highlights from such a generous collection doesn't feel right so let us advise you to take in that tracklist, press play and totally vibe out to some of the best jungle bangers made in the last 11 years. Mad love to the DITJ crew!
Review: Time for some junglistic pressure en Francias as the super prolific Veak returns with another dispatch of Amen bruisers, this time on his own label Dubplate Supplier. Seven cuts in total (already teased and pleased by his loyal Patreon community) Veak lays down the law in a variety of ways. Highlights include the emotional freefall of 'Lost Paradise', the horn-heaving heavens of 'Mary Jane' and soul shattering slaps and bashes of 'Step Function'. And they're not even half of the treats on offer here. Veak, Veak you make our whole week!
Review: Holy moly to the power of roly-poly; Bristol rave OG Vinyl Junkie feeds our collective jungle fatness fix with this walloping collection of bangers from some of the most consistent, reliable and authentic craftsfolk in the contemporary game. From Conrad Subs to Veak, SuM to Sanxion, Unkoded to Kumarachi to Kickback, this 29-track strong collection of exclusive breakbeat gems sparkles from every perspective as it runs from deep, pensive groove pressure (Ikon B - 'Run With It') to absolutely stinking murk missions (DJ Direkt - 'TestDEAD') with all vibes and grooves in between. Ghetto fabulous.
Review: DJ Zent serves up our five a day right here with "Juicy Fruits Vol 1", a brand new VA repping a cross section of flavours across the Dreambass cooking cabinet. Jayline & Mawh set the scene with pure drama on "Epic Movie Trailer" before the likes of Veak, D Zire, Dubbage and Zent himself all deliver some high grade bruisers. From the creepy twists of "Trouble" to the triumphant thrust of "Mi Nah Fear" to Natty D's purring vocals on "Truth & Rights", this is one of the most accomplished EPs Dreambass have released to date.
Review: Don't feel bleak, tune into Veak... One of the most consistent and prolific jungle craftsmen to ever emerge from France, Veak is back digging out some old specials and exclusives for the second instalment of his Dubplate Dose series. Flexing between his snappier, savage dnb side and his looser junglistic flavours, every single track is a highlight but special shouts go to the slamming beats and twisted frequencies of 'Echoes From Mars', the tight funk shuffle and grizzles of 'Nuff Request' and the ravey day dream of 'Odyssey'. What a collection. Seek out the Veak!
Review: Original Key's Faces Of Jungle series has been a consistent and prolific platform for some pretty exceptional and heavy hitting slabs of breakcraft sorcery in the last year. Name a currently active artist in jungle and D&B and there's a chance they've flexed here... As collection of the last four VAs proves. All styles and sounds should be expected from the juicy jump-up disco funk of Bassface Sascha & Fiendsoul's 'Back To Basics' to the Amen artillery of Sykes' 'Exit' via Veak's wild sub soaker 'Rebel' and Bring The Beat Mack's party-blazing 'Oh My Gosh', this collection digs deep across the board giving a lot of hugely talented artist a platform and spotlight. Face the music!
Review: Veak, one of the most consistent and heavyweight junglist producers to ever hail from France, brings some of his finest unreleased weapons together for the inaugural volume of his Dubplate Dose series. Expect a full range of flavours and vibes across the set as he showcases all his styles and sounds. Highlights include the twisted balance between grit and euphoria on 'Red Alert', the sweet sunny-side skankage on 'Good Mood VIP' and the utter filth on the two-steppy throat cutter 'Mutation'. A dose of this a day will definitely cure what ails you.
Review: Time for a reload! DJ Hybrid's Deep In The Jungle look back over the last few years of skankings, tear-ups and vibe missions and curate them all in this awesome compilation that stretches the entire jungle drum & bass spectrum. From the classic Bristol style bubbles and bumps of cuts like Conrad Subs' 'It Goes On' to the more traditional junglistic savagery of cuts like Lupo's 'Retrograde', over 30 cuts we're treated to some beautiful 174BPM moments. Other highlights include the emotional 'Must Remember' from Critycal Dub, the powerful and poignant energy of the late great JDizz and the undying rawness of man like Kumarachi. This is awesome music.
