Review: SHDW's label marks its twentieth release with this weighty compilation. Drawing on some of the most respected names in techno, volume three is full of peak-time bangers. There's the lean, rolling techno of Chlar's "Inside Us", while Dax J showers the listener with waves of acid tones on the steely, peak-time "Celestial Dub". The Advent's "Randomized" is a bruising and quite brilliant industrial techno workout. While Blawan's hyperactive "Don't You Dare Squawk At Me" hovers just below the 160 bpm mark, not all of the compilation is as intense. Vocals are mixed with chiming chords on Gary Beck's "Fold" and Z.I.P.P.O's "Broken Game" is a deep Detroit techno track.

Review: The third instalment of the Monnom Black compilation series sees the respected label delivering its distinctive, hard-edged techno. Villa's "Silhouetten Der Nacht" is a lean roller, while Levzon's "Planga" and Benkhlifa's "Basikstruktur" both deliver a more abrasive, visceral sound. However, the compilation also casts its gaze wide and possesses an impressive range. Umwelt contributes the epic string-led electro of "Echoes of the Storm", while Kashpitzky's hypnotic "Timeline" goes deeper while maintaining a focus on the dance floor. In keeping with this diverse approach, Black III even provides the listener with some ebm, delivered through the pounding, brutalist rhythms of LPV's "Arrival".

Review: Abracada are bang on the money this year - in the realms of discofied danceteria the Gallic imprint has dropped no less than three essential releases in 2010 anddistinctly balearic tinged dance music since their Diva Edits dropped on Mindless Boogie last summer. Remixes guess what - number four is just as good. The Belgian trio that make up Villa have been impressing with their for everyone from the risible Ali Love to NYC duo The Golden Filter have followed and got big support from Erol Alkan et al. 'Beats of Love' is essentially a chugging slo mo disco burner cover of the 1984 one hit wonder by compatriots Nacht Und Nebel. What really sets it apart is Villa enlisting the breathy vocal talents of The New Sins aka the swoonworthy Lou Hayter (NYPC). No remixes here - just a nice dubbed out version which concentrates on the groove.
