Each cut bangs in its own unique direction; Prestige goes for the Belgian bullseye with a stark laser lashing Q&A riff, Eazy gets all theatrical with a spot of orchestral stabs and operatic chants while Vital dusts his chainsaw off with wry limb-losing stepper. Review: Low Down Deep are regular appearances here for two main reasons. Firstly, they release a hell of a lot of music. Secondly, it almost always hits hard and in good order. So, with that in mind, let's take a look at Vital & Mass' collaborative EP Think First/Rolling Stoney/No Gangsta/Deeper. 'Think First' is without a doubt the highlight of the EP, with an infectiously funky arrangement that's grounded in a glitchy sense of progression and movement. It goes hard, but in a way that's not off-putting or over the top, and it's a fitting tribute to an excellent original by the late DJ Dominator That's the general impression of this EP: jump-up with serious finesse and class.

Review: Categorically one of the most prolific producers in the game right now, Vital follows up his rather "Violent" on Dub Voltage with another generous sledgehammer six pack. Groaners and stinkers galore, like all Pick N Mix releases, these cuts are tailored for the dance and creative DJ pleasure. Highlights include the foul stench bass screams and grumpy subs of "Hauling", the crucial spoken sample and dirt bike revving bassline of "They Will See" and both the treacle like bass sludge and graveyard breakdown of "Ridin High" and its gnarlier, gruffer version. Chop up both cuts for maximum effect and they won't see you for dust.

Review: Vital really isn't messing around! Two weeks have passed since his debut album and already Vital is back on the strong stuff. Five tracks of pure bass grizzle, he ain't letting up. The title track busses up amen slurs on the breaks, a farted-out b-line riff and classic house stabs on the riff, "Wanted" revs like a Dodge Tomahawk and don't be fooled by the title of "Barbed Wire", it's actually flabbier than your dearest relative. Wrapping up we have the foggy thuggy moans and tones of "No Stopping" and the toxic jungle slammed climax "Staring At The Speaker". Vital? Mental more like... These kick serious jacksy.

Review: It's a powerful start to 2018 for Bass Legion as they invite south coast up-and-comer Vital over for a full flavoured five tracker. In keeping with the label's sense of experimentation and love for variety, we're given a full tour of Vital's tastes; "Switchblade" shows a knack of euphoria and melody, "A Likkle Draw" is all about the Serum-style skanky bounces, both "Sociopathic" and "Screwy" are all wild stabs and paranoia while "Gangsta Bass" closes with a sandpaper funk bassline and some brilliantly twisted percussive textures on the fills. Switching ain't easy.

Not only has he just dented our souls with extended collections on Samurai Bass and Bass Legion, he's also returned to his local crew Unauthorised with this walloping six-tracker. It's all about the hooks this time: "Speaker Shots" is all bounce and badness, "Can You Read Me" is about the trippy metallic ricochet riff while "Brick Top" pays homage to everyone's favourite London gangster. Review: Vital always goes big, anyone who's heard any of his music would be able to tell you that. This EP is, unsurprisingly, no different and if anything, it's some of the best stuff we've heard out of Vital. It's pacey, it's rolling, it's full of vibrancy and it's all guaranteed A-list dancefloor ready. The title track kicks things off with energetic subtlety, a simple percussive line beneath an entanglement of reece basses and bouncing stabs, it's infectious and it's damn good. 'Wacky' is downright naughty, with grating stabs and fluctuating undercurrents of force all coming together to make a Kings Of The Rollers-worthy little number. Absolutely wicked.

Review: South coast soldier Vital makes his debut on the turbo-charged young label Bulletproof who are already 17 releases deep after seven months of ops! Living up to his name once again, each cut tickles a different corner of D&B's dark underbelly: "Skank Out" is plain lethal with its MC sample, open-hand slap bassline, loose drums and iced textures, "Bossman" fuses a little jungle magic and soundsystem samples with a nagging bouncing riff while "Murder" goes in for the kill with its lower, grumbling bass hook that refuses to quit. Finally "Walking Dead" adds a little mischief as a carnival bassline sizzles and pings its way around a swaggering, mildly skanked two-step. Vital by name....
