Review: For the fourth instalment of its From The Vault series, Paul Boex' label opts for a less banging than usual approach. Area Forty One's 'Sunday Morning cut' of Abstract Division's "Deformation" sets the tone for the release with its deep groove, while Deepbass & Ness come together to create the rolling groove and atmospheric tones of "Flight 103". Stefan Vincent's contribution, "Aro", is similarly deep, with some tropical samples embedded in its lithe rhythm, while remixers Milton Bradley and Delta Funktionen also use the opportunity to take Abstract Division on a more esoteric path. In the case of the former, it is articulated on the churning, dubby "Shifted Reality", while on the latter's re-work of "Floating Point", a jerky, angular rhythm prevails.

Review: From the prolific Dutch label comes this high-quality compilation. It starts, somewhat inauspiciously, with the serene ambience of JaBBurg's "Summit", but soon after that plunges into the kind of streamlined techno that Paul Boex's imprint excels at. Deepbass & Ness' "Proximity" is a tough tribal track and Voidloss' "Moment Of Total Emptiness" follows in a similar vein, albeit with some hypnotic tones thrown into the dense rhythms. The Jeroen Search take on Tim Wolff's "Backstage Fridge" is reminiscent of late 90s Sterac mixed with Silent Servant as woozy chords are mixed with functional, loopy rhythms. Paul Boex himself also impresses with "Hate is Love" remixed here by Oscar Mulero, bringing the compilation to an urgent, acid-heavy climax.

Review: Never one to use a succinct title when a dramatic one is available, Voidloss starts his latest release with the impossibly grandiose sounding "A Field Of Lavender To Lose Hope". The sonic approach is much earthier, with tough, distorted drums and sheets of earsplitting noise somehow rising through the impenetrably dense rhythms. "He Crawls Inside My Mind" is based on a relatively similar approach, albeit with a more dancefloor-based sound. From there on in, the South African producer allows melodies to glisten and twinkle amid his crunchy, distorted rhythms. Dreamy textures seep through the harsh framework of "Self Revelation Is Annihilation Of Self" and "Until The Lights Have All Gone Out" is cloaked in eerie, haunting FX.

Review: Wherein Steve 'Voidloss' Loss proves yet again why he is one of techno music's unsung heroes. Many of the UK industrial-influenced producer's peers could learn from "A Radiant Glory In The Acceptance of Death". There, doubled up clanging rhythms are fused with a brooding bass to make for irresistibly menacing electronic music. "An Uncoordinated Expression Of Sadness" is more introspective, with melancholic melodies applied to a hissing rhythm and "Distorted Crystal Matrix"sees Loss head into more conventional territories with a a rolling, filtered groove underpinning reflective synths. But it's closing track "Laughter Fills The Sky Instead Of Rain" that really captures Loss' talents the best: there, a repeitive broken beat comes together with atmospheric soundscapes to make for a sublimely eerie track.

Review: If you were to somehow find yourself being hunted deep within a Congolese jungle, Voidloss' One Breath Dispels The Limits Of Earth EP would soundtrack your escape from the heart of darkness. The footage attached to the "Diaphanous Fever Of Dreams" montage would be the preparation for battle - eyes blackened, red headband and camouflaged upper torso primed for a stealthy face off with an invisible enemy - if it bleeds we can kill it. Armed with only a USMC combat knife and commando senses, "Scar Glamour" plays to the flickering silhouettes that dance above. The Fifth Book" meanwhile soundtracks a ritualistic shadow game as you become one with the jungle and the tortured screams of your former team come in the form of "Rain Down On The Soul" before you extract bloody vengeance in an epic human vs predator showdown!

Review: Digital label Singularity provides the platform for mutual appreciation between South African producer Voidloss and Casual Violence, with each producer reworking two of his peer's tracks. The Casual Violence version of "Realisation Of Mind Fractures" suggests the listener may be in for a softer than expected experience, with rolling breakbeats underpinning a repetitive chant sample. That illusion is quickly shattered by Voidloss' granite beat and firing percussive version of Casual Violence's "Briefly Sexual" and the dense, metallic screeching and industrial eeriness of Casual Violence's version of Voidloss' "Simple Things For Simple Minds". The second Voidloss take on "Briefly Sexual", where shredded metallic drums are merged with Gothic vocals, confirms that intensity is the prevalent mood.
