Review: Total Science's CIA continue to unleash all kinds of fire this year. Following massive dispatches from the likes of Zoro, Klipee and Myth come two barnstorming tear-ups from long-time friend and affiliate War. Both utterly savage and razor sharp in their intent and energy, 'To Shape The Fire' goes all high voltage with its sizzling, electrified Reese while 'Justice' rattles the bones a little more with its rolling style drum arrangement. Both are right on the edge. Heavyweight tackle!

Review: DLR's Sofa Sound label has become a pillar of the scene in barely a handful of years, and this week they're following up their previously successful Sofa King Sick compilation with a second edition, this one equally packed to the rafters with both new and old school talent. It's a tour-de-force of the tough side of the genre and it's exemplified by 'Baja', courtesy of Scepticz, a Belgian producer who knows his way around the controls and who proves it once more, as jagged synth lines cut across its snapping, two-step arrangement with all the force and subtlety of an underground train. Kodin makes an appearance on the superbly gruff 'Chronic', whilst The Sauce get deeper than usual on 'Ultrasonic'. Quintessential drum & bass that makes for essential listening.

Review: We're pleased to bringing you this pack of drum driven weight as the epic trio of DLR, Hydro and WAR who combine courtesy of Sofa Sound for a bass heavy showdown. The first of the two tracks involved is a certified roller by the name of 'Not Too Late'. This one is packed to the brim with lethal electronic synth expanses and drum designs. On the flip, the pressure doesn't let up as 'Trick' strips the compositional styles back into a super groovy bag of creativity, with original synthetic sounds flying left right and centre. Excellent work!

Understated and restrained yet fizzing with industrial strength, each cut smacks with foundation D&B authenticity. Review: UK purveyours of funky breaks, Bombstrikes Records, may have a controversial name but there's everything to love about their sound. The fun loving and dancefloor bothering label run by Mooqee & Beatvandals was founded in 2004 and they claim that if you have been to a club since then you will most likely have heard their releases. Well then! Starting off with the low slug funk of A Skillz's "Mooger Fooger (dub mix)", Mooqee & Beatvandals themselves appear with "Back Up" and the legendary Cut La Roc is still at it; "Sunday Morning People" (Herbgrinder remix)" proves that he's still got his finger on the pulse. Other highlights include Pimpsoul's ever soulful "Is This Love (feat Pat Fulgoni - Pimpsoul funk remix)" the street attitude of A Skillz & Beatvandals "Simply Playing (feat Real Elements)" and the legendary Martin Solveig (remixed by the equally legendary Mousse T) who appears with the James Brown sampling "I'm A Good Man".

Review: Demand Records command the sort of widespread acclaim for each release that larger labels envy. No hype, no empty threats, they are without doubt the scene's go to label for upfront and intelligent drum & bass. It's not surprising then that this blistering release showcases some of the finest new talent in the scene right now while providing some serious attitude. "Armshouse" is a dancefloor driven, down and dirty breakbeat roller; tight, punchy and fierce. Newcomer "War" sends out his battle cry with rapidfire percussion and deep, dark atmospherics. Two standout tracks from one of D&B's top labels.
