Review: If there is one thing that the 1Forty team know how to do well, it's assemble a well balanced compilation project. This latest addition to their 'Funky & Garage' series, kicks off with an absolute belter from Murder He Wrote entitled 'Honey Riddim', which features funky flavours and a hard hitting vocal appearance from Snowy. Following this, Killjoy continues with the funky theme with some hard hitting rhythmic movements on 'Disturbance', before Smokey Bubblin' B injects a lashing of garage flavour into proceedings with the stripped back design of 'Brock Out'. Finally, the uplifting arrangements and chord progressions of ''Do Me Right' from Wolfe puts the finishing touches on a great body of work.

Review: The guys at In:Flux really do deserve a lot of credit for their tireless contributions to the UK bass scene over the last few months, having made themselves one of the most prominent Northern imprints within the wide span of the genre. We are here to celebrate and enjoy this compilation celebrating five years of activity from the label. They pull out all the stocks for sure, inviting the likes of Brent Kilner, Pavv, Pelikann, Dr Oscillator, J69 and more to join in the party, with our specific highlights coming from Tik&Borrow themselves, the leading forces behind the project. Review: As one of the grime and bass scene's standout label projects over the last 5 years, Project Allout have conquered much, constantly alternating between grime, dubstep, bass and garage, all with a real touch of finesse. This latest compilation sees the gang assemble in force as the likes of Sammy Virji, Killjoy, Palize, Deadbeat UK, Daze Prism and more heavyweight names bring their heat to the table. For us the standout tracks have to be Dunman's grimey roller in 'Chip On The Block' and of course Moony's amazonian funky ride out on 'M', a subby mover, designed to take the dance real low.

Review: Sheffield by way of Bristol's Wolfe are comprised of three blokes named Arthur Sam and Alex who have been making some of the sickest UK garage and bass music around for some time, as well as smashing raves across the UK with their trademark blend of everything from bassline, house, grime and UK funky. Having said that, this debut EP on Hot Cakes Bass sees the duo step up another level entirely. "Temptations" is a UK bass number, mashing classic diva vocals, rude basslines and mad UK funky styled drum work for a track that can't fail to get them moving in the dance. Next offering "Desire" sees them expertly execute some dark deep dubstep which will no doubt get some street level sci-fi paranoia happening.

Given away two years ago for a limited amount of time, this bass-meets-grime collection was a blink-and-miss affair. Until now... Back all it's 21 track glory, it's ablaze with fusion fire from Creep N00m & Ronin's itchy-trigger finger banger "Kill", Pelikann's 4x4 Dizzee-twisted widow maker "Stand Up Tall" and Mr Dubz's planet-bouncing "Spaceman". Review: At the start of the year, Wolfe delivered a host of completely lit bangers. They've been quiet ever since, but now they're back with a bigger bang in the form of "Far Too Long". Always producers who favour the rough over the smooth, this track is an anthemic meltdown of hyperactive, scattershot UKG, retro house organ stabs and wailing divas. People will go nuts when they hear it. There's also loads of remixes, with our favourites including the demented 4 x 4 hysteria of Pavv's version, Pharoah's utterly terrifying bass roar and the evil trap growls of Dubzta's rework. Bare craziness.

Review: Sheffield's Project Allout don't mess about, having developed a reputation for championing all directions in the ways of bass. Every take on that three letter word is important to this label and that's why they cram so many hot jams onto their comps. Basically they're the Ferrero Rocher am-bass-adors and they are really spoiling us with 49(!) lengerz. Highlights include AT's bleepy 8-bit hip-hop groove "Flash Bang", the epic, symphonic trap of Dubzta's "Lord Of War" and the almost disco tech grooves of "Murkers' by King Hydra. All killer, no filler!

Review: The trio of Arthur, Sam and Alex, aka Wolfe, released their two-track underground hit Love Is/Without U at the start of March. Although we're still rinsing it left, right and centre, they'll decided to follow it up with some remixes. In other words, they're spoiling us! The former is tackled by DJ Direct, who turns the tune into punchy 4 x 4 banger loaded with big synthy drops and even bigger build-ups. The latter meanwhile is taken in deeper direction by MindOfaDragon, who delivers scattershot steppy beats bleeps, whirrs and eerie pads. Top quality gear!

Review: The big bad Wolfe trio make their debut with a handsome EP for the wonderful In:Flux Audio, and with this release the label mainatain the quality of garage and bassline tracks they're known for putting out. The straight-edged "Charlie" is a dubbed-out house stepper with an urban vocal touch, while "Back It Up" is a bass-weighted monster capabale of devouring dancefloors. A clap-centric "Mankey" is a techy hybrid of dub and bass for peak time dealings, and furthermore there's a pretty fine line of remixers too, as Spookz and JG both rework "Mankey" into a sludgier half-step beast.
