Zamali - "Fast Move" (feat Mr Critical) - (4:39) 139 BPM

Review: Brazilian soundboys Butter Music have a motto: 'keep it greasy'. In the days of over-polished pristine production where everything comes with a high-end sheen, it's a refreshing approach. It works, too: All Good Funk Alliance's "Turn The Sound" is a jittering, sleazy P-funk bass romp while Zamali's "Fast Move" is all '70s moody funk with big trumpets and even bigger beats. Wood N Soo's "Petty Larceny" is the slickest of the set, nodding subtly at the trembling synth sound Get Physical established itself with 10 years ago while retaining heaps of funk in the groove.

Review: Canadian vibe masters ReSoul recruit some die-heard funk soldiers for their third "Fully Loaded" EP and each track is a wise move. The unavoidable Basement Freaks gets devilish with a dubstep bass and funky breakbeat with a deft slice of Cypress Hill. Funkanomics digs deep for a lavish string-hook that never stops shimmering. Slynk & SkiiTour rediscover the BeeGees with added electro boogie bravado. Wood 'n' Soo pull your trousers down for a savage bass spanking while Defunk's "Banjo Blues" finalises with a very clever nod to Blackstreet. ReSoul we salute you!

DJ Tzinas - "Wicked" - (3:44) 150 BPM

Review: The Dirty Dubster crew return with a bumper seventh volume of their ragga party jams, and true to form, they mash up ragga with other contemporary styles with considerable style. F-Block's "Jah Bone" combines all manner of echo-laden dub guitar with filthy dubstep bass, while Wood N Soo's "Smoke 2 Joints" is a contemporary update on The Toyes' classic, filling it with rolling snares and powerful low end. Subtifuge's "Love 4 U" is a slightly more skanking effort, with rolling D&B rhythms completely at odds with its laid back mood, while DJ Tzinas' "Wicked" combines a horn sectiona and tropical acoustic guitar with some serious dub airhorn - big stuff all round!

The Hots - (3:23) Biggest-selling track on this release
from $1.92
Review: Three tremendous floor-boosters from Canadian funk crew Wood N Soo: the title track comes complete with swashbuckling guitar blasts, a dreamy breakdown and peaky bass trills influenced by dubstep while retaining more of a nu-funk warmth and character. Elsewhere the pair play ping-pong with well-known vocal cuts on "Party Song" and get all P-funk on our jacksies with the hype-heaved "The Hots". No party playlist should be considered without them.

Review: With previous on Dirty Dubster Digital, Wood N Soo are no strangers to the boundary-punching funk on Irish Moss, as ably shown on this skank-flecked ragga-ravaged party blaster. Featuring Deadly Hunta - a toaster whose repertoire includes the likes of Buju Banton and Mad Professor - his gravelly vocals carry instant command as the beats bubble and bounce. Remix-wise Cut La Vis adds more sunshine to the groove, Dirty Dubsters add a gritty bass-bitten 4/4, SaBBo & Gurfinkel throw down the dark halfstep drama while Yan Zombie gets freaky and ultimately trippy in the beat department.
