Review: On his belated return to Delusions of Grandeur following last year's excellent Love Is Emotion EP, Keita Sano has joined forces with fellow Japanese producer XTAL -an artist best-known for his various releases on Crue-L Records. The pair first unfurl 'Broken', a loopy and slow-building slab of gritty disco house that makes great use of cut-up walking bass, sharp string sounds and heady vocalisations, before delivering a deep, warm and hazy fusion of loop-house and Ithrobbing Italo-disco ('Let Us Have Nice Days, The Sun', with its gargantuan delay trails and simmering strings). Arguably best of all, though, is the beautiful and emotion rich 'Time Passing', where breathtakingly melancholic synth strings wrap around a crunchy house groove and deep disco bass.
