Review: Sub-liminal are one of those very prolific, very underground labels that tends to go unnoticed yet releases some absolute bangers. So, getting a whole compilation full of them from a variety of up and coming producers is only going to go one way - hard. The first tune - 'Iggy' - from Garry K & RV is an instant stand out, a wobbling riff of force and hurting energy, all tied up in a jump-up sized package. 'Vultures' by Zapya and MC Karter is another top-level cut, a skippy drum-line and menacing vocals sit above a fiercely minimal roller that clicks and clanks with satisfying precision. There are a bunch more excellent tunes on this release, so go check them out.
Review: As ever with the Dungeon Kru, we are happy to see them back at it again, returning to Liondub International for a top quality display of collaborative energy across nine outstanding originals. The team invite the likes of T-Kay, Bandit MC, Yatuza, B-Plexx and more onboard to deliver a wide range of drum & bass and jungle creations, all doused in that classic dungeon energy. There's a lot to take in with this selection, from the super gnarly bassline growls of 'Navy Seal' alongside EzTee and ELE to the super choppy, unpredictable bass slices of 'Number 1' with SUV. It's definitely a project we would recommend exploring on long play, with our highlights including bouncing drum designs and clever dubwise sampling of 'Ganja Riddim' alongside Maurizzle, next to the screaming bass crunches of 'On Fire', which features additional work from Falco.
Review: All aboard! RV revs up the engine and invites his mates over for a cruise on Sub-Liminal Recordings. Travel buddies include the likes of Raz, Beat Merchants, Yatuza, Leaf and label boss Agro and the results have more twists and turns than Spaghetti Junction. Highlights include the ice cold rave blasts of 'Bumbahead' with Beat Merchants, the pranged out bass and Break style drums on 'Can't Feel It' with Leaf and the full grunt finale 'Anytime' with bossman Agro. Friendly fire!
Review: Now entering its 20th year of gully manoeuvres, Grid Recordings unleash another set of remixes of the bossman's tracks through the ages. First up Jayline gets out his stick and whacks "Last Days Of Rome" within inches of its life with a big high voltage bassline, Grid regular Nick The Lot flips "Danger Zone" into a much crunchier, rasping affair and Argentinian newcomer Yatuza adds whole new levels of trippiness to "Edge Of The Dome". Last but not least Matt View and Marvel Cinema go right back to 2003, grab Pony Pleasure by the scruff of its neck and give it a good scrub with cosmic soap. Nice and bubbly.

Having been responsible for so many bangers from so many now household names, it's a mean feat boiling it down to this mere 50 heavyweight highlights. All the label's key names are on board; Guzi, Dreadnaught, Nick The Lot, Too Greezy, Kumo, Version, Vital, Pyro, Motiv and many more dust off their past heavers, hurters and head-slappers to reflect on everything Sub-liminal has stood for and encouraged so far. From the deeper, more subtle bubblers (Sam Harris - 'Coffee Machine') to the most outrageous funk-ups (Warhead - 'Cranked') this EP has everything. When the Riddim hits you, you can't say no...
Review: So it doesn't feel like we've had much of a summer this year. It also feels like the arts are being hung-up to dry right now. But at least the good folk at Sub-liminal care for us.... To mark the (albeit raveless) sunny season, they've put together a 50 (yes, fifty) track collection from some of the most exciting names in the game. From Dunk to Xav, RV to Warhead, Agro, Guzi, Shayper, Damage Report and so many more, this is the 'Summer Selection' we all totally need and deserve right now. Highlights include the Remarc levels of badness on Guzi's 'Area 51', the tension and staggered creepiness of Yatuza's 'Clich?' and the broadsword swathes of Motiv's buzzy bumper 'Necroplasm'. And that's just three out of 50. Thank you Sub-liminal. We need this more than ever right now.
Review: Few labels are as on-point as Sub-liminal when it comes to new talent. Home to some the sharpest new gen minds to emerge in the last few years, their Myriad collections have always been a succinct snapshot of forefront D&B. The fourth annual collection is no exception as we're treated to smash-ups and stinkers from the likes of Guzi & Dreadnaught, Yatuza, Shayper, Agro and many more. Highlights include the techno rasps of Guzi & Dreadnaught's "All Units", RV's bulldozing rattler "Tell You 1 Thing", Shayper's ghostly rave groaner "Work It Out" and Agro & RV's chest-melting finale "Impact"... And that's just the tip of the iceberg. Myriad by name, myriad madness by nature.
Review: Everyone likes a good compilation, right? What's better than having as big a range of artists as possible in one condensed place? It's essentially an album with the ease of listening of a single, so we're all for it. Subliminal have come out with the 2020 edition in their Riddim Return series and it's packed full of bangers, across a range of styles, and it's one of those albums which doesn't try to be cool or sophisticated by chucking in a few fillers for the sake of diversity - it's just hard stuff here. It works great, with Sam Harris' tendency for muscular minimosity coming on loud and clear on Boom Ting, a wickedly devilish and driving roller.
Review: Grubs up! Twisted Individual's cooked up a feast of undead delights for the first Zombie Recordings V/A collection and everyone's invited. Chewy, spicy and full of gully victuals, across the collection we're treated to all range of flavours; the peppery aftertaste of Filthy Habits & Jeopardize's "Mind Transfer", the fruity funk bursts of Imaginary Friends' "Rooftop Jam", the gamey aroma and meaty chugs of Yatuza & Nick The Lot's "Mystic Ways" and the sweet and sour textures of Alex SLK's "Kluture" are just some of the many highlights on the menu. Gunfinger-licking good!
Review: Liondub International's 10 year celebrations continue with a sense-shocking body slam into the future of the label and its ever-growing family of talented artists. Hitting hard like the label's ever-on-point Street Series, the rollcall reads like a who's who in gully talent: Dutta, Bou, Jayline, Vital, BlckHry and loads more. Whether you want to be completely twisted and spat back out by a brass section (Pharoah's "Fire In The Hole") you'd prefer to be hoovered by a jet engine then shot up into the stars (Jayline's "1408") or you're more into the idea of being rattled around in a big tin bassline can (Danny The WildChild's "Body Moves") this future shock has every physical experience contemporary (but heavily rooted) drum & bass can offer. And there's even more to come. Big up Liondub!
Review: Forget your daft screechy dubstep variant of the same name, Sub-liminal deal strictly in proper riddims. Wobbly riddims, fat riddims, stinking riddims, gully riddims. They have done for almost five years now, and this new Riddim Return collection is a reminder of just how much ground they cover, how many super talented darksmiths they work with and how much skin of yours their releases will melt. Highlights on this 50 track strong collection (yes, 50!) come from every angle but you'd be mad not to lick a shot from Agro & Raz on their melted bass weird-out "Ah Like It", do air trumpet to Warhead's "Cop Killa" or get wonked the heck out by Leaf's concrete steps on "Hold Up". Dig hard and take a deep breath... You're in riddim country.
Review: Good4Nothing are turning 10 years old and are celebrating that fact in the only real way you should celebrate a label anniversary: with a big old compilation album. They've gone all-in for this one and raked up 15 tunes artists like Dutta, Ironlung, Slipz and Complex. Dutta' contribution is typically naughty, with a pulsating back end that sits just beneath a snappy drum line that includes a lovely, wooden snare that has just the right amount of bite. Part 1 of this series is a truly hedonistic banger of a compilation which is well worth checking out, we cannot wait to hear what the label has in store for us in Part 2.
Review: Street Series EPs on Liondub are always big, but this one from Yatuza climbs to new heights as it reaches full album-length, with 15 full-length cuts for you to sink your teeth into. It kicks off with the stripped back urban sounds of 'Good Old Days', a tune that packs a hefty low frequency line with dancefloor atmosphere in its core. There are a number of features, and 'Bubbler' with Alex SLK is one of the best, a gargantuan head-nodder with a finger clicking snare and a wide, wobbling bassline. It's an album that will please anyone who knows anything about Liondub or Yatuza - fantastic work.
Review: Over on Sub-liminal Recordings, Yatuza is landing with an EP that blends the savage sounds of jump-up with effortless use of space and a clarity designed to impress but not overwhelm. 'The Divide' rests on finger-click drum hits that intersperse with a wobbling sub bass and choppy bass staps, it's got that head-nodding vibe to the drums we all love and it's an all-round masterclass of blending funk and aggression. 'Feel The Same' builds up with murderous intent above a body of furious kicks, before climbing the heights of euphoria into stabbing, flowing territory. Beautiful stuff, and we also love the wobbling gargles of the final track, 'Taken', which is just pure naughtiness. Big ups.
Review: Weapons of Choice are an insurgent force of a label who have been steadily growing for the last few years. Yatuza is the latest producer to join the family and his offering is one of stripped back sonics and fierce minimalism, a nod to the label's stylistic grounding and a reflection of his sound. Its title track - 'Macumba' - is a big tune that keeps to a ferocious pace in drums which smack of the old school, whilst a flurry of hats and rippling basslines keep things moving as well. The rest of the EP is also pure gold as well - proper drum & bass for true heads.
Review: Yatuza is on Sub-Liminal with an EP that's full of minimal destruction He's roped in some of his friends for the release, including Sam Harris, Dr Kick and Aleex SLK in what is a full-throttle release from start to finish. This is clear from the off, as 'In The Dark' dives down deep into murky sonics and minimalist force for session that'll appeal to the real heads. 'Cut It Down' is a naughty roller with a disturbingly scary sub bass & reece bass combination and 'Under Control' ties up the release with more dark atmospherics - quality stuff.
Review: Grid Recordings are a regular here on Juno and for good reason, their proclivity for steadily releasing rough but energetic, whole-hearted cuts is strong and their small size doesn't prevent the release of top-quality music. 'The Wobbler' is the strongest on the release, with a Dispatch-esque feel to its cracking percussion and a torn, broken back end that rips across the range with style. The other 3 cuts go down a more jump-up route and, if you like Grid, this is the release for you.
Review: Sub-liminal Recordings is one of those small, low-key labels that every now and then actually releases some pretty outstanding music. This time it's the turn of Yatuza , whose music is a lot more exciting than his name might suggest, his four-tracker here rolling out in delicious fashion. 'Illusions' is the first, a spooky, spacious introduction giving way to a subtle, pulsing back end that sits perfectly underneath a skippy percussive line. 'Give It Up' is in a similar vein but manages to amp up the drum-pressure even more with a fantastic percussive line, as its sneaky little bassline creeps in underneath this to transform it into a proper little roller. Sick EP.

Review: Yatuza isn't an artist we're overly familiar with but we hope to become more so, because this release on Lickwood & Gunshot has us moving and grooving all over the place. The strongest thing about this EP us the drums, which are all pristine in their balancing of strength and playfulness and every tune is undergirded by their solidness. There's a real sense of skippiness in this release, there's more movement than you can handle and it's all just so D&B. We love this one and we want to hear more.
