Review: Following months of solitude away from touring, disconnected from technology and returning to nature, Frenchman YokoO went back to the studio inspired to create new music that was different to what he had been known for. This Jivanmuktih EP for Diynamic offshoot Rebellion showcases the continuation of his sonic explorations, and a transition further into his creative self. Indeed tracks like "Higher State" are quite the departure from what we're used to on this sublime dub house journey, while the bass driven minimal house of "Spiritus Sexualem" is a collaboration with Atlanta-based Bobi Stevkobski. Finally, rest assured the title track is more reminiscent of his usual work, on this dreamy and evocative deep house journey that is perfect for a Sunday afternoon open air.

Review: Lee Burridge and Matthew Dekay's All Day I Dream started off as a party concept, then a music label of the same name which captured the sound of their decadent daytime rooftop parties around the world: their Stateside ones being the most raved about. Since then, they have defined their own aesthetic and you just know what one of their new records will entail: sun-kissed tech house on the deeper tip with evocative orchestral arrangements and blissed out vibes. Their new one comes from Frenchman in Berlin (by way of Sydney) Yokoo, who teams up with Retza on "Euneirophrenia" a slinky and sexy groove with the mandatory symphonies and some hypnotic bongos. On the flip, there's something a bit more upbeat and certainly more immersive on the dubby house of "Tarantism" while the rolling and bass driven "Yugen" proves the EP's finest moment.

Review: Dance Spirit, aka Christopher Mohn and Reagan Denius, are the latest act to feature on a Kindisch compilation. The Get Physical sub-label has chosen to showcase the US duo's work and in so doing puts a spotlight on their range. "Piercing the Veil" is a gorgeous, reflective deep techno workout, while "Moving Shapes", a collaboration with Robbie Akbal, sees them veer towards a more foreboding, broken beat sound. In contrast again is "Anouement (Intro)", a spiky minimal workout, while on their reshape of Nick Galemore's "Redesigned", they deliver a piano-led, ghostly deep house track (albeit with a stepping undercurrent). Clearly, remixing is something that they excel at, with the pair's take on Powel's "Kalophain" conjuring up echoes of Herbert's complex minimalism. Available as separate tracks and in a continuous mix, Kindisch Stories is a great introduction to one of modern house music's most intriguing acts.

Review: As stated previously, Hamburg house hero Matthias Meyer presented the 20th edition of Berlin super club Watergate's acclaimed mix series and several exclusive tracks he premiered for the mix are now finally available individually. On the second volume he serves up "Turgoyakk" by Russian up and comer Gorje Hewek; a stunningly gorgeous deep house excursion with dark elements that has just the right amounts of suspense and drama to captivate the world's dancefloors at present. Next up Frenchman via Sydney via Berlin YokoO teams up with Retza on "Satori", which has a bit more energy and bump in its groove but still focuses on dreamy and mesmerising elements. That string section that comes in around the two minute mark is just brilliant.

Review: Reflective of the atmosphere that prevails at party organisers All Day I Dream's daytime events, this collection eschews mushy ambience and plodding deep house in favour of a more sophisticated, adventurous selection. Powel's "Hor" is all abstract percussion and soothing melodies, while Lauren Ritter's "Glass Hours" is a sublime deep techno groove, brittle, beautiful and reminiscent of artists like As One. Meanwhile, Bedouin's "Flight of Birds" sees the compilation veer into mystical territories with wonderfully evocative fiddle playing unraveling over a pulsing groove and bongo drums. On Summer Compilation, All Day I Dream show that down-tempo dance music need not be synonymous with birdsong and dull sax solos.
