Review: It seems as if there is no stopping the fire that LW Recordings have lit as they put together yet another heavyweight compilation, this time featuring 25 absolute stormers from some of the waviest faces in the scene. Stylistically, the LP ranges quite drastically from neurotic breakbeat rhythms and hardstyle bassline to more chilled out UKG themes and unusual 2 steppy flavours. For us the immediate highlights are quite obvious, those being Gosize's euphoric breakbeat adventure in the emotive chords and perfectly crafted breaks of 'Take Me To Heaven', along with Nadine's dancefloor heavy rework of 'Riff' by Nubass. A special mention has to also go to TBFM & Chilllito for their incredibly smooth 'Did You Really Care' creation.

Review: Mixed live by DJ Beenie, Garage Kiss: Sounds of the Underground Vol. 1 is a compilation that features 25 of the garage underground's biggest tracks, showcasing the best of the new wave of UK garage talent. Highlights include The Next Room's "Turning Point", whose horn samples recall Roy Davis Jr's classic "Gabriel", Fuzzy Logik's "Playground", which weaves a tightly rolling UK Funky beat and fat bassline around Myshy's catchy vocal action and jazzy, bright synth melody, and Danny B-Line's refix of Redlight's "Source 16", wrapping a bass squelch around rave whistles and hollow snares. As skillful as DJ Beenie's mixing is, the superb selections also come as unmixed original tracks.

Review: Prolific UK deep house imprint Lost My Dog celebrate five years as an independent with this mix of label highlights from boss type Pete Dafeet. As Lost My Dog has over 200 releases under their belt, picking just 15 is an unenviable task but Dafeet comes through here. Kicking off with the 2009 bumper "Worry" by Yse that features the soulful croon of sometime Wolf & Lamb vocalist Beckford, Dafeet mixes in label highlights from Jay Tripwire (featured twice with the dubby R & B bleep of "Everytime" and the almost broken beat hypnotic sound of "Harmony & Peace"), Milton Jackson's superlative remix of Dominic Martin and the awesomely titled "Sweat Bomb" from Nathan Coles and Dave Coker. Dafeet maintains a fantastic flow throughout and this mix works as a nice introduction to those unfamiliar with the Lost My Dog sound.
