Review: Following a high-profile collaboration with Manuel Tur on Compost, Tokyo's Yuu Udagawa makes her solo debut on Defected's rebooted Cyphon Recordings offshoot, an outlet for heavily electronic productions that come with a sizable dose of futurism. She begins with the low-tempo, IDM-goes-electro vocal number 'Forever' - an undeniably sweet affair - before dousing a deep, sci-fi sounding house tune in crackly effects on the deliciously atmospheric and hypnotising 'Mojito'. Elsewhere, 'Hug Close' blurs the boundaries between Isolee-style deep tech-house and warmer, woozier dancefloor excursions; 'Illuminated Night' fuses classic Japanese videogame sounds with Drexciya-style sub-bass, soulful male vocals and post-electro beats; and 'Stay With Us' is a chugging, slow motion, 16-bit synth-pop-meets-R&B number.
