Review: The guys at In:Flux really do deserve a lot of credit for their tireless contributions to the UK bass scene over the last few months, having made themselves one of the most prominent Northern imprints within the wide span of the genre. We are here to celebrate and enjoy this compilation celebrating five years of activity from the label. They pull out all the stocks for sure, inviting the likes of Brent Kilner, Pavv, Pelikann, Dr Oscillator, J69 and more to join in the party, with our specific highlights coming from Tik&Borrow themselves, the leading forces behind the project. We look forward to many more years of the In:Flux wave continuing to run!
Review: As a consistent label project, it's hard to ignore how much work LW Recordings have been putting in over the past few months, bringing forward high quality compilation after high quality compilation. Here we see them unveil the 12th edition of their 'Sublime Breaks & Beats' series, boasting twenty five original scorchers. For us the immediate highlights have to include the super groovy chord movements and catchy bass melodies of 'Simmer Skank' from Zemon, alongside Blackboxx's smooth roller 'Closer' and Eater's punchy trap sheller 'Pop It'.
Review: It seems as if there is no stopping the fire that LW Recordings have lit as they put together yet another heavyweight compilation, this time featuring 25 absolute stormers from some of the waviest faces in the scene. Stylistically, the LP ranges quite drastically from neurotic breakbeat rhythms and hardstyle bassline to more chilled out UKG themes and unusual 2 steppy flavours. For us the immediate highlights are quite obvious, those being Gosize's euphoric breakbeat adventure in the emotive chords and perfectly crafted breaks of 'Take Me To Heaven', along with Nadine's dancefloor heavy rework of 'Riff' by Nubass. A special mention has to also go to TBFM & Chilllito for their incredibly smooth 'Did You Really Care' creation.
Review: As one of the most prominent labels in the UK Bass scene, In:Flux Audio have consistently delivered banging release after banging release, and the most recent edition of their 'Get Fluxed' compilation series shows they have no intention of stopping this trend. They bring some of their classic roster into the field of play as Pavv, Tengu, Zemon and Fiyahman all make return appearances. For us however the highlights lay in Hamdi's super groovy 'Zing Zoom Zoom', which channels vibrant bass instrumentation with super punchy drum riffs. Another instant favourite would have to be the speed garage inspired arrangement of 'Trigga Finga' from bassline high flyer Sekt-87 and In:Flux founders Tik&Borrow.
Review: For this super creative two track broken garage project, we hear the innovative sounds of Zemon alongside the 83 imprint, and it's an absolute corker. As a first track 'Lecture' is exactly what the UK music scene is after, creative, skippy, melodic garage with a tonne of impressively designed synthesisers. The syncopation increases tenfold as we roll into 'Girl' which vibes off pulsating reese leads, beautifully plucked melodies and unpredictable drum manoeuvres, resulting in a super groovy composition. The one is a real example of how creative you can get with the UKG style.
Review: We are always very happy to see new music from the In:Flux Audio collective who have been on a super consistent streak as of late. This time we see them team up with the futuristic sounds of Zemon for a four track bonanza. To kick off 'Peas and Potatoes' is a masterpiece in choppy UKG, incorporating growling bass synths and unusual melodies to great effect. Next up 'Hungry Riddim' is a another UKG bass bin flapper, working with unpredictable drum rhythms and wobbly synth design. The EP is then rounded up by the electro inspired 4x4 sounds and groovy chord patterns of 'SImmer Skank'. On remix duty 10sion steps forward for a funky rework of 'Peas and Potatoes' which adds a whole new layer to the already stacked EP.
Review: As a label and collection of artists, In:Flux have been consistently impressive for some years now and there are few ways better to summarize this than a compilation. This 13 track collection, entitled "Selection Box 2017" is bursting at the seams with bassy goodness. We see long term label favourites Palize and Tengu all make fantastic appearances as well as a few absolute heaters from Connerz, Zemon and the wonder kid of the moment: Hamdi. This release also features exclusive VIP mixes from Clean Shirt, Dr Oscillator and J69, making this a must grab for all 4x4 fans.
Review: Bang! Right in the kisser... In The Face finally unleash Zemon's skanked-out gutter shuffler "Soulman" and no one is safe any more. Grunty but funky, dark but light - it's a surefire summer smash for bassline, garage and house heads alike. Remix-wise Hadean removes all sense of hope and wokes us the hell up to the harsh reality of the world. Elsewhere we hit space bass UK funky groove heaven in "E Fa Funky". Instant carnival blaster.
Review: Fighting talk: "Tiger" sees UK up-and-comer Zemon laying down a zesty bassline sermon with added Street Fighter sample magic and special moves galore. "Floating Point" shows off Zemon's more spacious, grimey side with roomy kick dynamics and a hook that goes off on a mission of its own. Finally "Home Of The Bass" is a straight-up scrapper of a track with its pumping four-fours and a bassline so twisted it could scare the Kruger family. It's a knock out.
