Review: What better way to kick start the party than an underground dance music collection? This time it's being given to us by the fantastic team over at Back 3 who have pulled together a wonderful compilation with this one, being the second edition of the '1 More Tune' series. Featuring 15 of the most palpable 4x4 bangers, from the silky liquid flavours of Hallow's Aquifer, to the tech-induced percussive pulses of 'Peggy Cadis' from Baronna, and back around shuffling, synth-heavy halftime struts of Amalgamate's 'Save U', a delicious dubstep-infused masterclass. Overall, the pure depth of dancefloor heat this project is able to expand across is it's strongest asset, with sounds covering D&B, Breakbeat, Dubstep and more, with our highlights including the ruckus-inducing synth growls of 'The Hive & The Queen', next to the gorgeous roller soundscape of Jinbu's 'The Answer' and Erotic Cafe''s super abstract 'Alive'. Reading like who's who in new-gen talent, across the 40 tracks we're treated to pure thunder from an exciting range of names including Beskar, Shayper, Cray Dee, Ruckus, Oli Lewis, Zoner, Phear Phace and many more, and it sonically ranges from the sprightly tongue-in-cheek funk of Herby's 'Crud' to the BSE-levels of all out neuro mayhem on Phear Phace's 'Away'. If you're not up to speed on Sub-Division then now is most definitely the time. Oof!

Once again we're treated to an epic dose of futurism as more new gen talent lay down stinkers, slappers and sizzlers galore. Highlights include the wild riff Skarz' remix of BLACKPHIL's 'Hope = Despair', the savage machete-like grizzles and flames of Machine Attax's 'Laniakea', the viciousness and tightly coiled spring-like nature of Squint Eastwood's 'Terror' and the switch-flipping depth, soul and charm of Zoner's finale 'Mind Games'. Review: Sub-Division continues pushing the new generation of artists and sounds with this epic VA album featuring a whole load of hybrids and fusions from a barrage of exciting new talent. Highlights are left, right and centre but essential picks include Guzi's twisted flip on the stepper sound with the grizzly 'Continuum', Sinexia's savage, stripped-back 'HND' and a whole range of cuts from the fast-rising Shayper including the rifle-like war talk of 'Keep In Line' (with Amplify) Elsewhere pure futurism drips off every dark nook and crannie of Guzi & Woolf's 'Intimidate', Niterider & Warhead's 'No Way In' is a raw, unkempt slab of rolling grot and Herby's 'Next Stop' is the sonic equivalent of a swarm of hornets - and its buzzing around in your brain. Review: This release honestly doesn't mess around. It carries a serious sense of potency despite its clear lack of pretentious sophistication, because D&B of this type simply isn't about sophistication, it's about making something so filthy the audience won't even understand what hit them. Zoner has certainly accomplished that here, I mean just have a listen to the rippling sines, percussive naughtiness and bassline badassery that is 'Doses, a beautifully spacious tune that still manages to make you feel like you've been attacked by a dog. The flip is just as good, as 'Hold On' rattles through junglist breaks with abandon. Top stuff.

Review: Over on Juno regular Sub-Division Recordings, Zoner and Alex SLK are being given the remix treatment in a really cool, well put-together single that'll please heads from all sides of the scene. The first comes from Alex SLK himself, and he's flipped the original into a brooding, creeping piece of music that feels cold, tight and packed with latent aggression just waiting to emerge. The flip wears its heart slightly more in its sleeve, as JAK UK rolls out 'The Revolution' amidst a flowing arrangement of bouncing sine stabs and carving bass patches. Wicked.

Review: Zoner is landing on Sub-Division with a really nice, varied EP that stretches out across both lighter, funkier tones and tracks which pack a bit more bite and aggression. Track one 'Feel It' rests upon a bed of synth work that feels melancholic but warm, a simple melody that grounds the whole tune around the drums and the bass in a classic bit of drum & bass arrangement. 'Home' is another highlight and it blends the pacey drum sound with wobbly sub-basses and soulful samples that rest above the drums with a floating feeling of ambience. Sick EP.

Review: Sub-Division are releasing the second instalment of their The Division series and it's another five tunes that all slap fairly comprehensively, with contributions from Guzi, Indirekt, Mosley and others. The spectrum gets spanned as well, with Guzi coming on with the synthy and up-beat 'Hold Me', which then leads directly into Indirekt's dark and wobbly 'Trailer' featuring BP MC, a tune that ushers in the rest of the EP in style. We especially dig Mosley's 'We Got These Things Alone', which is just a naughty bloody roller. Wicked work.
