Review: Whenever we see a new EP from the Basskruit team we tend to be filled with joy, knowing just how solid their back catalogue has been over these past 18 months of fun. This time around they welcome the ever-dependable Zygos inside for three tracks of introspective dubstep flavour, kicking off with the dissonant yet delightful pad textures and chord progressions of '0404', giving us a potent intro. Next, 'Do U' continues with the themes of mystery and unease as ascending chiming melodies lul us into a state of spacey abandon, before 'Swirlin' seals the deal with a bag of dungeon-ready drum work and sizzling sub-processing. What a powerful yet original sounding drop this is!

Review: Following on from a top quality run of drops, we were very excited to see what the Basskruit team had to offer this time as they unveil this spicy four track compilation entitled 'Explosie Vol. 1'. We kick off our exploration with Crowley, who delivers an industrial thumper named 'Grump', stuffed with colourful percussive drags and unpredictable melodic scoops, followed by Beatsforbeaches returning with another unorthodox scorcher in 'Whydah'. Next, we move into the smooth chord progressions and super-scattered rhythms of Zygos who excels on 'Sideways', before the creeping percussive bubbles and hard hitting sub-lines of 'Echolocation' give us a fiery outro.

Review: It is becoming more and more difficult for us to keep pace with the Encrypted Audio rampage as they continue their pretty spectacular run of top quality dubstep drops with another bombshell, this time welcoming fourteen top quality steppers creators inside for a mega compilation. There have been no expenses spared when it comes to the lineup, with the likes of Dalek One, Kodama, Karnage, Zygos, Mungk and many more established faces supplying us with a string of hard hitting dubstep originals. When we take a look at our specifics favourites however, we have to point out the truly lethal sub-bass & reese-bass combinations on DubApe's 'Quick', alongside the glitchy soundscapes of 'Bricked' from Chendah and the super syncopate rhythmic displays of Reamz on 'Devilish'. Awesome work as per!

Review: Boy oh boy what a year it has been for the Duploc family, who despite all the madness of 2020 have still kept up their incredible run of consistency, dropping nothing but bangers throughout the duration. This, presumably their final drop of the year sees them pull together a monstrous roster, featuring the likes of Cartridge, BunZer0, Ourman, Opus, Teffa, Sam Cosmic, Xakra and many more to give us one final celebratory look into dubstep in the modern era. The complete track listing is absolutely bonkers to tell you all the truth, with quality leaking out of every single original. Some favourites we have to mention however of course include the sizzling bass designs and spooky textures of Wraz's 'Ghost', alongside the fluttering flute melodies of Mani's 'Secret Forest' and 'Gibberish', a super smooth subby glider from Surreal & Somah.

Review: So it would appear that Cue Line have arranged a bit of a treat for us with this one as Gaze Ill lands for three tracks of experimental fire, kicking off with his brow-raising overhaul of 'Sudd' from Zygos. With this we see him rework the original into a boiling ball of bass and bounce, allowing a minimal drum set to push the whole track forward with some real style. Next, Gaze then reworks RDG's 'Shapeshift' into a piece of half-time percussive perfection, packed to the brim with shimmering bassy throws and high energy rhythmic ideas before VIP'ing his own 'Combo' original. This puts the cherry on the cake as a well thought out collection sub bass synths and reverberated congas deliver a very finale.

Review: If we were to a shortlist of names as to who could be crowned the most exciting dubstep artist of 2019, to not find Zygos on that list would be nothing short of a crime. He arrives here on Foundation Audio to continue his high profile release run with three original heaters, kicking off with the super-stepper vibes and rolling percussion of the title track 'Rotation'. This shimmers along before shining a light onto 'Sick As A Dog', which takes a more hypnotic approach, with floating synth lines and gnarly bass warbles below, before we round everything up on the more industrial bass prods of 'Tumble Dub', a naughty little number destined to blast the roof off any venue!

Review: As one of three brand new releases from the expertly trained Foundation Audio camp, we are very excited to see what Zygos can do as he brings forward four pulsating original dubstep designs. We kick off with a look at the title track 'Erf', a highly organic roller, packed with crunchy percussive influences and bumping sub structures beneath. The super trippy bass manoeuvres of 'Nostromo' follow up next, with cloudy harmonic movements above before the dungeon style percussion of 'Agite' rolls into sight. We then finish up with a very clever collaboration with 'Tosti', who gets involved with the twisted rhythmic expressions and swamp like melodic designs of 'Dwaas'.

Review: If you are looking for a slice of dubstep delight then we feel you need not ever look further than the latest Zygos release, who here teams up with Teffa for three originals that pack a serious slap. We begin our delvings into this project with a sampling of 'Direkt', a seriously gnarly piece of sound design, housing a seriously cool lead synth sound that busts its way through pounding sub textures and sharp drums. Zygos then steps out solo following this as he gets involved with the more organic drum structures or 'Run Down', which uses squelchy percussion to create a seriously unique feel, before we round of in style with this blistering LFO pressure of the title track ' Drained'.

Review: As we rapidly approach the end of a very successful 2018 for dubstep, we have to pay homage to one of the genre's most consistent platforms in Duploc, as they unveil the first edition of their new 'Selects' compilation series. This is a total amalgamation of the darker realms of 140 bass music, with artists such as BunZer0, Khanum, Zygos, 207 and more supplying the selection with some serious fire. For us the total standouts have to include Sweepa's sub warbling epic in 'Morse Code', alongside Juss B's demonic whirlpool of a composition in 'Sandman' and Surreal's uber grizzly 'Omni'.

Review: Straight out of the dubbed out streets of Manchester, we are pleased to welcome Hypho and Amadeo Sanchez's new project 'Manuka' as they unveil their debut four track drop. We kick off with new school dubstep high flyer: Arkwright, with his shimmering roller in 'Course', before dipping into Kelly Dean's dungeon dwelling demon in 'Childs Play', which is packed to the rafters with reesey energy and grizzly subs over skippy 4x4 infused beats. Next, Sensei brings some more original flavour as the gritty bass tones of 'Red Cross' run riot, along with the wobbly moogish bass designs of Zygos on 'Paz', rounding off a fantastic debut release.

Review: The guys at Rareified seem to have struck a major pot of gold on this one as they see two modern dubstep giants team up in perfect form. Throughout 2018, Sibla and Zygos have been on major waves, which is evident here as we dive into the first of four heavyweight collaborations. The title track 'The Path' is a seriously eerie thrill ride, pushed by grotesque LFOs and spacey arrangements, before landing on the super glitchy backdrop and creepy percussive overlays of 'Haunted'. Next up, we hit the darkened rolling drum arrangements and vocal slices of 'Sigil', before jumping into an exclusive bonus addition across the springy basslines and crunchy drum processing of 'Coven'.

Review: The team at Circle Vision have set out and made a serious statement with this one, as their 'Various Visions' series returns for It's second helping with four fresh originals from four of the coldest in the dubstep scene right about now. We begin with D-Operation Drop who lands a heavyweight punch in 'Fried Chicken' before man of the minute: Zygos appears with a percussive heavy piledriver in 'BAtte noir'. Next up, Hebbe arrives on the scene with a haunted episode of bitcrushed leads and floating subs on 'Sixes & Sevens', before Mrshi sees the EP out in style with his triplet-driven scorcher 'Biter'.

Review: Zygos makes his return to releasing with a gem of an EP here as he teams up with Rarefied on his brand new SFG project. At first the evocative eastern inspired melodies and shuffling bass and drum movements of the title track 'SFG' take the lead, before dropping into the more syncopated and darkened arrangements of 'Forward', driven by its hypnotic spacial textures. We then finish up the EP with an outstanding collaboration alongside Soukah entitled 'Late Night Escort', which allows itself to be driven by a pile of dubbed organic percussion and yet more hypnotic texture loops.

Review: Understandably, we were very excited to see Belgian dubstep heavyweight Zygos announce his brand new 'Sudd EP' on CueLine. This EP traverses the swampiest realms of 140, with the title track channeling extremely techy percussive rolls and detuned drums amidst a rage of grizzly subs. We then hear the gritty bass synthesis of 'Tapered' growling away alongside slowly expanding string ensembles, whilst the 4x4 drum arrangements of 'Laicism' proceed to reek havoc. The EP is rounded of with a fantastic remix of 'Sudd' from DPRTNDRP, who strips back the composition and reassmbles it into a volcanic spectacle

Review: Lately we've witnessed well-respected dubstep imprints announce their spin-off release series. Subaltern Records is amongst those few, launching its first various artist compilation on the 20th of October 2017. Entitled as "Kaleidoscope" you can expect music from respectively Helktram, D-Operation Drop, ILL_K, Shu and Zygos on Volume 1. Interestingly quite a few new signees are being introduced to Subaltern via this four track EP, which makes us even more excited for the series' future. Briefly, this compilation of different styles and artists, attentively picked by label owner Mentha, is blending all together smoothly like a Kaleidoscope.

Review: If there is one rising talent on the dubstep scene worth talking about, then it's definitely Zygos. The shady producer has his own way of doing things, and this latest EP for Foundation Audio is the best possible way of kicking off 2017. A direct, cold-hearted bang. "Future" sprays its liquid bass tones over a rolling punch of beats and percussion, while "Dist" offers a deep, pulsating glow of subbass, and "Indistinct" swaggers a little more percussive flair about the mix, totally owning the deep dubstep charts this week. Recommended.
