Not No Love
Skywalker OG - (4:39) 126 BPM
Not No Love Song - (4:40) 126 BPM
Review: Flinging double negatives like a clown hurls custard pies, AC Slater builds on Night Bass's generous debut release with his second full-fat EP of the year. With a sound and attitude that's been cemented into the bass scene psyche for a decade, you know what to expect from him: BS-free floor-fire with added humour... And that's exactly what we get. "The Chirp" is a Dirtybird-level jacker, "Skywalker OG" taps deeper into the classic house roots with an air of late 90s Van Helden, "Waterverb" flips the trap bird before dropping into some seriously silky 4/4 wobble while "Not No Love Song" vibes with classic rave synths and a speed garage style drop that's not, not, amazing.

Kelly Dean - "Childs Play" - (5:44) 128 BPM Hot
Sensei - "Red Cross" - (5:27) 129 BPM
Review: Straight out of the dubbed out streets of Manchester, we are pleased to welcome Hypho and Amadeo Sanchez's new project 'Manuka' as they unveil their debut four track drop. We kick off with new school dubstep high flyer: Arkwright, with his shimmering roller in 'Course', before dipping into Kelly Dean's dungeon dwelling demon in 'Childs Play', which is packed to the rafters with reesey energy and grizzly subs over skippy 4x4 infused beats. Next, Sensei brings some more original flavour as the gritty bass tones of 'Red Cross' run riot, along with the wobbly moogish bass designs of Zygos on 'Paz', rounding off a fantastic debut release.

GAWP - "Vanilla Gorilla" - (5:12) 125 BPM Hot
Jai Biotic - "Music Is Drohgz Too" - (6:16) 125 BPM
Review: The Main Course imprint ain't messing about with this their instalment of the Big Plates series. The usual suspects are involved, starting with Big Makk and the militant bass gunshot that is "Tabasco Sawse", followed hastily by the UK-laden, pseudo techno of "Spooky Hallway" from Sven Lochenhoer. Lux Groove offers a percussive feeding frenzy with the hard-hitting house slicer named "Keep Rockin", GAWP's "Vanilla Gorilla" is a bubbly tech-house slinger, and "Music Is Drohgz Too" by Jai Biotic manages to create a total hybrid from the best parts of house and dubstep wobble. Pull up!

Review: Releasing music from the likes of Sinden, AC Slater, Jack Beats and Herve over the years, the Night Bass label out of the UK have worked with a who's-who of club music specialists. Both Blossom and Shdws have delivered on their own individual releases for Night Bass in the past with the label choosing a three-track collaborative split release as their return. Shdws' solo effort sees darker tones of 80s synthwave and vocals meet with warbling metallic bass lines, tech house drums and skipping rhythms. Teamed up with Blossom, the pair trip through a circus of synths, trippy vocals and out of shape rave to straight up dub and two step. Mind Games gonna make you trip.

Papaya Lipgloss
Papaya Lipgloss (club mix) - (4:29) 129 BPM Hot
Review: Bok Bok is back in action on his own label with this sprightly two-tracker featuring fresh-faced collaborator Sweyn Jupiter who is making a debut appearance on this record. The "Club Mix" of "Papaya Lipgloss" is a plush affair that revels in the sweetest chimes of melody that linger in mid-air surrounded by a pleasantly sleek rhythm section. It's a joyous affair that keeps an upbeat mood without reaching over into banality, instead letting subtle but impressive flairs of production shine through in the simple surroundings. The "Sour Mix" doesn't actually loose any of that sweetness, but rather deploys it in a more staggered, playful mix that revels in more broken drum patterns and dramatic pauses.

More Time Records Vol 1
SNOW - "Bleep Test" - (4:58) 125 BPM
Review: More Time and R&S linking up is always going to lead to something fantastic, and this latest four track selection is just that, as we firstly kick off the project with some incredibly vibrant drum work and percussive brilliance from Ahadadream on 'Melty'. Next, Bala Bala Boyz rise to the occasion with more high energy drum chops and vocal lines on 'Sieta' before Bryte brings the grooves with the irresistible switch ups of 'Ice Cream'. Finally, 'Bleep Test' lands from SNOW, putting a final touch of rhythmic bliss onto what we can safely say is an excellent body of work.

Callahan - "Kudzu" - (5:19) 128 BPM Hot
A:Tonal - "Perfect Imbalance" - (6:18) 128 BPM
SYZ & LKY - "Turbulence" - (7:06) 128 BPM
Review: The Brotherhood Sound System released two heavy bass swelters back in 2014 and, since then, only another appearance was made in 2016, which leaves this new collaborative effort to give us a little view as to what they might be up to next. There's a whole bunch of new faxes here, and Callahan's "Kudzu" sets the scene nicely with a bit of minimalistic tribal drumming, which is followed by the glitchy, sparse two-steps of "Eastern Shores" by Silas & Snare. A:Tonal's "Perfect Imbalance" is the master-stroke on here, a fluttering wave of percussion and hissing sonics, but SYZ and LKY's beat thrashings should not go overlooked. In fact, this whole EP feels truly collaborative, linked-up by a recurrent pattern of thought which is sublimely executed from start to finish.

Masta Blastah
Masta Blastah (Caski remix) - (3:36) 126 BPM
Review: Nu-dubstep spcialist Durkham Audio returns to Durkle Disco with some grimey disco-leaning vibes that blend just about all of the UK's best and more cut-throat sounds. "Masta Blastah" is a dirty, broken arrangement of hefty bass, stripped-back percussion, and bashment vocals, served to you on one fat groove! There's remixes, too, with Caski, Bromley and Mani Festo all dropping their own, bass-heavy, reinterpretations. Killah style!

Omura
Maps - (4:51) 129 BPM
Review: Omura sees Fracture and Sam Binga explore the futurist sounds of electro, and are said to have taken influence from acts such as Drexciya and The KLF. The LP is the result of 72 hour studio sessions and virtual collaborations, between their respective homes in Bristol and London. Feel the brooding sci-fi beats of "Advisory List", icy and glacial dub techno aesthetics work their way into "Lake", then bounce along to the dystopian ferocity of "Termites" or the nefarious computer funk of "Conditional".

Drums From The West EP
Drums From The West - (4:55) 127 BPM
Review: Alongside the likes of Peverlist, Asusu and Kowton, it's arguable Hodge and Simo Cell that you would quote next as Livity Sound mainstays. The duo, in collaborative form, have been handed the honour of delivering the influential Bristol label with its 50th catalogued release. Be it presenting fiercely imaginative and upfront club bangers next to dancehall-inspired, 100BPM heavy hitters, the EP drifts into weightless grime territory with sprinkles of technicolour via "You Think Too Much". Staccato industrial techno rears its head in the title track, with "Medusa" a sweet tripper next to the percussive and heavy rave sounds of "Ah Bon". Go west.

BS6 (Scratcha DVA remix) - (3:18) 128 BPM
Review: The Hooversound Recordings team have been making quite a bit of noise of late, so to see this latest project drop from both Hyroglifics and Sinistarr immediatly filled us with excitement. We firstly jump into 'Turbo Island' as Hyroglifics rolls out a high energy bleep-fest, before leaping into three weighty collaborations. The shuffling dub echoes and high energy drums of 'BS6' kick us off in good stead, alongside the glistening breaks of 'Turn It Up' and powerful sub pushes of Sinistarr's solo submission: 'Detroit'. Finally, we take in Scratcha DVA's fantastic rework of BS6, overhauling the track with an incredibly depthy soundscapy feel.

Review: 1Forty set up here to continue their exceptional run during throughout 2018 by bringing together an exciting collection of artists for the second edition of their 'Funky & Garage' season. Having been previously premiered on the new Threethousand website, we see Killjoy and Smokey 'Bubblin B' lead the way with the super groovy 'Voices In My Head' alongside Shantie and the old school pulse rolls of 'Where's Larry'. We also get gifted a breaksy funky fusion as 9TRANE and Arridim team up on 'Plazma', whilst Cardinal Sound round off an awesome selection with 'Ayy', a carnival special set to turn any dance to a bruckout.

Muhammad Ali EP
Buzz Lightyear - (3:26) 129 BPM
Review: Hyperdub have to be one of the best labels in the world for discovering cool new sounds and themes, and it appears they have done so again here as they unveil a weighty four track offering from Lady Lykez. This EP is packed with energy, kicking off with the pulsating vocal rhythms and scattering carnival drum rolls of 'Muhammed Ali', which as a remix features the legendary Lioness. We take a afrobeats style spin next as the murky swings of 'Lyke U' wade into play, followed by the vibrant tribal percussive leads of 'Drmatic'. The EP then finishes up in funky fashion as the bouncy drumwork and skippy flows of 'Buzz Lightyear' see us over the finishing line.

Namecheck (Skin Up mix) - (5:37) 128 BPM
Review: Veteran night prowler Jason Laidback re-amasses the whistle crew with this sterling rave homage. With sonic references to Jaydee's "Plastic Dreams", A Guy Called Gerald's "Voodoo Ray" and Orbital's "Chime" and hundreds more seminal anthems referenced lyrically, it serves as a history lesson/nostalgia trip (depending which side of the 90s you were born) Each mix is subtly different with Astoria focusing on the ravey signatures, Bagleys emphasising the jacking 4/4 and Skin Up injecting the breakbeats. Each version as good as the last, this is a dedicate for everyone who certifiably knows the score.

Review: The Nightprowl team have supplied us with an absolute gem here as they bring forward this groovy little selection from Love Is A Bassline, as they team up with Souls Liberation for three tracks of groovy power. We kick off with some original UKG flavour on 'A.I', which is driven by some fantastic vocal latherings and skippy drum work, before moving into the more melody influenced arrangements of 'Bounce 808'. We then round off the project with the super harmonic landscapes of 'Global-I-Ration', which provides energy with it's layered melodies and pleasing riffs. Promise U - (4:08) 125 BPM Hot
Review: We all know very well of the impact that DRMTRK's powerful catalogue brings to underground dance music in the UK. For this particular project, we see two legends combine as Scratcha DVA joins forces with the immovable Mak10 for a weighty two track display. We begin our listening journey with 'Promise U', a percussion heavy fusion of drifting soundcaped pad textures and vocal snippets with delicate rhythmic arrangements. On the flip to this, 'Smoke Signal' offers us an alternate direction, linking up fluttering woodwind arpeggios and other percussive drives with a skippy set of rhythmic instrumentation, making this one a real creeper for the dancefloor!

Review: It looks like DRMTRK have done it again here as they arrange a top draw line up to join the legendary Scratcha DVA on 'DRMTRK VIII'. We kick off some super slick production along with an incredibly lively vocal performance from Mez, who lets loose with some typically energetic flows over a grimey madness from Scratcha. Following this, Griffit Vigo joins the party with some excellent contributions on the unpredictable drum work of 'Goosebumps', with DJ Polo then getting involved on 'Boog'; a bass heavy ride through interesting funky grooves and well designed percussive layers.

Mutual Friend - "Cylinder" - (4:28) 129 BPM
Review: Tessier-Ashpool unearth three more fresh faces for this stark futurist document. Romanian Mutual Friend initiates the party with "Forward Dive" as he invites us into a well polished mid 60s sci-fi machine, all theremin trembles and outer-planetary textures. Sexworker brings us back to reality with a twisted steppy tech serenade that's laced with toxic samples and soundscapes before TryTryDieDown takes that booming 808 kick element from trap and turns it inside out so hard it rips a hole in the space/time continuum. Mutual Friend then returns to shut down the shindig with a super-freak slice of reverse-processed paranoia. Grimey.

Review: It's been a brief minute since we took in a drop from the Maraki team, who return to releasing here with the third edition of their hailed 'Spaces' EP series. We kick off with co-founder My Nu Leng joining forces with S.P.Y for a hardcore inspired melting pot of breaksy drum lines and pulsating bass stabs entitled 'Feel It'. Next, Freddie Martin makes his return with 'Do Your Thing', a typically raucous experiment, combining smooth drumlines with unpredictable melodic structures for excellent listening. From here, NuBass arrives on the scene with the metallic synthesizer fluctuations of 'Titanic' to add a different direction to the show, followed finally by the incredibly groovy bass sweeps of Tony Wonka's 'Break', a perfect ending to a well thought out tracklisting.
