Review: As one of the most exciting electronic music imprints currently working in the UK, High Class Filter's Scuffed Recordings return here for another tasty selection as they bring forward the third edition of their 'Scuffed Presents' series. We kick off with Dubrunner's exceptional original as the metal drum chops and unpredictable rhythms of 'Zoya's Trip' wade into view, followed closely by the perfectly distorted 808 movements and percussive involvement of 'Cave People' from An Avrin. Next, we take a peek at the Terror mix of Odiham from Avernian, another stuttered masterclass in rhythmic ideas and funky influence, before the smoothened breakbeat themes of 'Vivid Dream Of Death' from Young Muscle brings us to a close.

Review: Next up on UK legend Matthew Herbert's new diffusion imprint - it's all about The Drips. The compilation brings the swing and sampling of water to 'produce a soaking wet dancefloor.' Herbert himself provides some superb microhouse on the trippy "The Swamp", Cosmo Sheldrake takes a slight departure from his usual multi-instrumentalist live-looping avant-folk on the bouncy blip, blurp bleep of "Splosh" and Bahraini born, French / US bred and now Edinburgh dwelling Yann Seznec delivers the bombastic "Droplets".

Review: Wise words from Dread MC, even wiser beats from Bristol's Notion & Young H. Chunky 4x4 garage with strong house tendencies thrown into the mix, "Money & Drugs" is an all-out dancefloor riot with catchy vocals, a deadly second drop and enough energy to charge a whole fleet of electric cars. For added screwface appeal jump on Killjoy's Birmingham-sounding remix where the bassline is twisted up just a few additional notches for added mischief. Blurry.

Review: Noisia's Division crew fire up the Partial machine for another time-bending trip into future beats. The third outing this year, the focus remains firmly on the most unconventional, provocative and forward-thinking ideas and sounds. Gullier than a night out in a sanctuary with the director of the RSPB, fusion highlights range from Noer The Boy's twisted broken glass bass scrapes on "Quarters" to the toxic distorted bass, wild drum shatters and sub-aquatic technoid murmers of "Shapeless Husk" via Samba's warped lolloping drums and spooked harmonics on "Blister". 100% unique and forward-thinking, few labels are investing in the beat game's most creative quarters as dedicatedly and progressively as Division.

Review: Well what a collection we have in front of us here as Hyperdub top dog and all around electronic music machine Kode9 presents his 'Diggin In The Carts Remixes' project, packed full of experimental flavour and unusual design. From the off 'Mister Diviner (The Mahjong Touhaiden)' holds a collection of ascending Japanese melodies in harmonious fusion over trap-style drums, with the military snare rolls of trance-like synth stabs of 'Bad Data (Dezaemo)' following suit. Next, the glitchy yet regal arrangements of 'Temple (Actraiser)' march into play before finishing up in gamer heaven as the subtle 8 bit tones of 'An-Un (Ominous Clouds) (Xak II)' see us out with some serious finesse.

Review: Brotherhood Soundsystem is a Leeds based bass music label run by Silas and Will. They're back with their second offering in a series of compilations entitled 'Percussive Parameters', delivering percussion and bass driven grooves. Troy Gunner will take you deep into the exotic via "Pleading"?, Silas & Snare get rather ethereal and atmospheric with "Memories" which is geared for some real moments of hypnotism. Elsewhere, Agrippa deliver some absolutely lush polyrhythms on the wonderful "Ziplash" and Yak serves up the release's most intense and heady moment with the brooding and minimalistic "Showdown".

Review: It would appear that South London Pressings have unearthed a few serious gems with this brand new Y U QT release, seeing two lethal vocal collaborations come to the forefront. We begin with a look at Riko Dan's inclusion, with 'Dancefloor Damager' being exactly what it says on the tin, combining Y U QT's delicate UKG inspired production with Riko's rave-ready vocal energy to cause a real ruckus. We also take in something a bit more scattered with Logan's feature on 'Like That', which sees more fantastic vocal manoeuvres and another energetic final product work it's way into view. Y U QT has excelled in the production element behind both of these vocals, which is why both instrumentals have also been included in the full release for good measure.

Review: The Yakona duo debut on eatmybeat with a stunning EP. Starting off with the title track's robust, stepping rhythm and hypnotic chimes, it is clear that Terminal is warehouse techno of the highest calibre. On "Viszer", Yakona explore similar but more tripped out territory, with atmospheric textures unfolding over a heaving, tone-shifting bass. "Unsettled" sees them focus on a straighter style, but once again the interplay between light and dark elements is vital, as tranced out melodies unfold over a metallic rhythm. The label has commissioned two fine remixes: Edetto & Transistor Rhythms turn "Viszer" into a malign, big room techno affair, while Daylesford's take on "Unsettled" takes a deeper, more tranced out route.

Review: This debut album from London-based producer Yamaneko represents something of an adventurous move for Local Action, as he offers up some alternative stances upon which grime influences can be posited. The likes of "Slew Wave" may swagger with the appropriate level of attitude, but even in these moments a mystical energy floats behind the rude percussion. Elsewhere the beats are eschewed altogether in favour of floatation tank ambience, or at the very least pushed to the back of the pecking order to let the wistful synth styles drift to the fore. It's a diverse album held together by its plush digital sound palette, with enough facets to appeal to a whole host of different sonic explorers.

Review: Yamaneko's fierce and cavernous bass experimentations for Local Action are given a new, much broader meaning thanks to this new album, the magnificent voyage called Project Nautilus. There's little that the producer doesn't touch upon with this new piece of work, from the quirky bleeps and funky tribalism of "Gala Helipop", to the distorted bass shots of "Accela Crash", and the hollow, spectral grime of "Pink 3", among many others on here, Yamaneko truly stands out from the rest of his contemporary bass peers. Tip!
