Review: Brian Rays is back in business, unleashing his killer new album project 'Slime', courtesy of the one and only Acroplane recordings. One word of warning, prepare for the unexpected as we dive into 10 tracks of sonic surrealism, from the uber-eerie percussive melodies of 'Plugs' with Quiet, to the stunning synthetic soundscaping of 'Nightcrawler' and high octane drum bops of 'Vampire Tints' alongside Riffs. As an album, this collection takes us on a completely unpredictable flight path, with a new rhythmic direction and melodic approach waiting around every corner. Our highlight moments include the super glitchy percussive arrangements of 'Ghost Burger' alongside the legendary Neil Landstrumm, next to the time-dancing subby twists of 'Oddball'. A highly inspired album for sure.

Review: Four40 have been known for their cultivation of talent since their inception, with this latest offering seeing the monstrous flavours of bullet tooth land for a much awaiting link up. Across these five tracks, we see exactly what bullet tooth is all about, with the moody sub pulses of 'Your Love' and crunching drum stutters of 'Immaculate Skank' giving us a truly vibrant experience. Killa P then touches down for a hard hitting vocal performance on the heavily syncopated slides of 'Brand New Day', followed by the pacey breaks-driven drum lines of 'Love Sensation'. Finally, we round off with a more subtle piece of soundscaping entitled 'Signal', bringing a touch of calm to bring this awesome debut drop to a close.

Review: Next up from Bulu, a very joyous outing indeed as he touches down at the super-dependable Bun The Grid imprint, unveiling three original creations that pack both a party-fueled and emotional punch. First up, 'Would You Come Back', a subtle, sliding sweep through glittering arpeggio synthesiser lines and wistful vocal displays, setting the tone perfectly for the rest of the EP. From here, 'Loving You' ups the drum-driven ante with a much more hardcore-inspired breaks arrangement, sitting beneath a stunning landscape of pads and electronic vocal tweaks, before the high energy percussive clammers of 'Hope; give us a truly fiery outro, closing off this EP with some real panache.

Review: Next up from eatmybeat, a vibrant collection of percussive-driven rollers from the one and only D-Nite, showcasing his crazy ability with some top level production skills. We open up with 'Ominous Arrival', a fluctuating combination of high energy rhythms and subtle vocal samples, followed by both the industrial synth thumps of 'Sine DNA' and arpeggio-lead soundscaping of 'Circular' to follow. From here we then move into the highly unique title track 'Ai Amor', a glorious roll through samba-style drum patterns and catchy vocal slices, followed by the bleeping synth sweeps of 'Amargo' to close off. Review: The crew over at Dirty Kitchen Rave HQ must be fully aware that they have struck solid gold with this latest collection from Doc Zee, delivering two originals and a vibrant remix, exploring the modernised breaks sound in its full majesty. First up, the title track 'Bassquake' packs a momentous punch, flipping between jittering vocal overlays and growling synthetic patterns below, before Skin Teeth gets busy with a super hectic overhaul, giving it an industrial twist to say the least. Finally, 'Condition' takes a much calmer approach, sampling classic hip hop vocals and nostalgic chord progressions for a smoothened finale.

Review: Longtime friend of Worst Behavior, Doctor Jeep, drops the electrifying "Deep Red" EP, showcasing his signature versatility and collaborative spirit. This NYC-based producer, known for his dancefloor-igniting beats and genre-bending explorations, delivers a diverse sonic journey across four tracks. "Deep Red" kicks things off with the infectious title track, a collaboration with UK artist Grove. Grove's punk-infused energy and appreciation for soundsystem culture merge seamlessly with Doctor Jeep's production prowess, resulting in a head-turning banger. Further collaborations unfold with Australian producer Hedchef, known for his off-kilter club constructions. "I'm Rushing" blends breakbeat rave energy with a futuristic twist, guaranteed to keep bodies moving with its rolling grooves and wonky basslines. Review: It's been a while since we last heard from Hyperdub and Don't Be Afraid regular Ikonika. In fact, 'Details' marks her first solo material for almost three years, and her first release of any kind since last year's collaborative mini album with 45Diboss, 'Supernova'. 'Details' is a typically colourful and synth-heavy affair, with her own vocals and glistening electro-pop melodies riding bouncy beats (think Afrobeats-meets-pitched-down Afro-house and you're close) and a deliciously warped, sub-heavy bassline. The remix package is naturally strong, boasting fine revisions from BokBok (energetic and upbeat, with nods to peak-time bass music and broken beat), Girl Unit (thrusting, wobble bass-propelled techno) and Aryu Jassica (percussively propulsive tribal house revivalism).

Review: For MELD's 10th official drop, we are very excited to see them linking up with Indent for a sumptuous display of breaks-infused bassy goodness across these five spicy creations. We open up with 'Take', a steady roller fusing gnarly synthetic bass sweeps with organic percussive ideas, followed by the shimmering chord progressions and moody sublines of 'Orbiting Frequencies'. Next, the swampish LFO stabs of 'Component' arrive in style, with both the industrial drum designs of the title track 'Phantom Pressure' and flapping rhythmic stutters of the Small Crab remix then closing the EP off in style. Review: As ever with the legendary production styles of Jubley, we have learned to expect the unexpected, with this latest helping of juice coming to us courtesy of the ever-ready Fodder imprint. We open up with the eerie synthetics and smart sampling of 'Why That', a vibrant title track that showcases Jubley's underground mastery in a smoothened blaise of electronic structure. Next, 'Minus 132' strips things back further for a slightly more quirky 2-step, before the broken-beat drumlines and unique bass designs of 'Back Then' give us a very tasty finale. Review: Straddling the grey zone where techno, garage and bass all intermingle is KEEFE's All Night. The title track is a good example of how this approach plays out. Over an intense, rolling techno groove, KEEFE weaves in repetitive vocal samples and whooshing filters. "Blue Calm" follows a similar trajectory - on this occasion, a wailing diva brings her uplifting tones to an intense, raw groove. "Drop Dat" veers more towards garage, thanks to the use of an ominous bass and skipping drums. This influence is also audible on "I Was There", but this time the sound is more soulful, as a stepping groove and a bruising low end underpin soulful vocals.

Review: The legendary Scratcha DVA returns in sparkling form for this latest collection on DRMTRK, exploring the furthest recesses of experimental bass music across four wondrous originals. We begin with 'Shishabhe' alongside Mfumfanakagogo, a chilling soundscape, wading between synthesised melodics and moody bass notation, before both Trim & Mxshi Mo arrives for some wicked guest work on 'Dem Kno Me Alredy', a haunted soundscape, doused in dripping post-funky flavour. From here, a more grimey avenue is explored as Mez, Jammz & Mxshi Mo all make themselves known on the more traditional drumlines and abstract melodics of 'PFB', with Omagoqa's additional work on the epic soundscapes of 'Drillers' giving us one tasty closer.

Our highlights that have an immediate standout would have to include Ale-DarkNoise's heavyweight 'Pump Up' arrangement, a super vibrant thunder drop, alongside the more liquefied synth work of Zero Dark's 'Losing You'.

Review: Long live team Alpha Pup, an excellently organised project that have moved onto the third edition of their epic '20/20' compilation series, exploring the most lethal reaches of underground bass music. Featuring hard hitting originals from the likes of Ivy Lab, Dismantle, Rocks FOE, Bakey and more, it's clear that the team have gone all out on this collection, with sounds ranging as wide as the hardcore inspired mysticism of 'Naananaana' from Rohaan, to the industrial techno-flavours of Ila Brugal's 'Cynical'. The whole project packs a punch, but our highlights would have to include both the intense metallic madness of Deft's 'OKURTHEEXPERT', alongside Manni Dee's monstrous 'Wet Slide' creation. Review: Since their label inception back in 2018, the team over at Wisdom Teeth have done a great job at both cultivating and innovative forward thinking electronic music, with their roster featuring a number of true veterans of the game. This latest compilation takes the title 'Club Moss' and sees them assemble 14 fiery original creations, featuring the likes of Facta, K-Lone, Maya Q, LUXE, Purelink and more, all of whomst deliver naught but quality in their chosen creations. For us, despite this being a longer project, there are two clear standout recordings, the first of which is of course Cousin's atmospheric drifter in 'Tooth 4 Tooth' which gives us a spacious, exploratory feel. Alongside this, the moogy sub bounces of Tammo Hesselink's 'Cupboard Cylinder Salon' original also tops the list for us, showcasing the variation of styles that sits within the Wisdom Teeth camp.

Review: The Dirty Rave Kitchen crew have pulled together a very tasty box of treats with this latest compilation drop as the second edition of their 'UNIVERSAL BREAKS' series sees them unleash naught but havoc. Featuring fifteen fiery originals and the likes of ALT SHIFT, SKIN TEETH, WeZ WhaTevR, Afghan Headspin and more, this is definitely a collection we would recommend taking in across a long form listening format. However, if we were to unleash our highlights, the pure ferocity of Paul Bassrock & WoTeR's 'In A World Where Music Had No Future', the abstract melodic pulses of 'OnDaMike's 'The Hills' and the glitching synthetic befuddlement of Tommy Lee Bones's 'Stalker Blocker' would be our primary jump outs.

Review: This time around from Bait, we have a very tidy collection indeed as four heavyweight names touch down as part of the 'Baby Steps VEP' collection. We open up with the dubwise influences and marching drum lines of 'Late Steps' from Quasar, a fiery introduction packing a super subby punch, before Orchid then unloads a crunching roller in 'Burning Steppes', again upping the energy levels. From here, Moriiiis J arrives with a more minimal set up on 'I.A.F.G', a smokey slink through unique atmospherics and drum ideas, with Agon & Celine B then teaming up on 'Drifted' to give us a jittering, glitter-fueled finale, rounding off this unique collection with some real panashe.

Review: The Early Reflex team have done a great job pulling together this latest collection from Yraki, who sets out to impress with three hard hitting original rumblers, perfect for those dancefloor switch ups into pure pandemonium. We begin with the lethal reesey growls and hard hitting tripletted drum directions of 'Percolate', packing a serious punch before 'Crawl' again dives into a deliciously designed industrial arrangement, being as unpredictable as it is potent. The kicks then come out to play in force as 'Surge' gives us another heavy thunderbolt that closes us off in top quality fashion. A seriously hard hitting collection for sure.
