Review: The team at Dirty Kitchen rave have done a great job over the recent months in uncovering and showcasing some of the most exciting new breakbeat action about, with this latest compilation being the second of their 'WE ARE DKR' series. Featuring the likes of Phrentic, Skin Teeth, Skitzoid, Zero Dark and more, we can see that this project packs a serious punch, exploring the full spectrum of modern breakbeat ideas. Our highlights that have an immediate standout would have to include Ale-DarkNoise's heavyweight 'Pump Up' arrangement, a super vibrant thunder drop, alongside the more liquefied synth work of Zero Dark's 'Losing You'.

Jakobin - "Drawan" - (6:16) 124 BPM Hot
Jakobin - "Skulpt" - (6:45) 134 BPM

ROTCIV - "Frenesy" - (5:14) 127 BPM
ROTCIV - "No More Room In Hell" - (5:10) 126 BPM
ROTCIV - "The Confidence" - (5:54) 120 BPM
ROTCIV - "Living Art" (Digi bonus) - (5:47) 126 BPM
Review: As the matter-or-fact title makes clear, this expansive affair brings together a wealth of tracks from two of Luv Shack's most prolific and consistent artists, Jakobin and ROCTIV. The former steps up first with a trio of tracks. Of these, it's opener 'Drawan' - a deliciously trippy and mind-mangling slab of psychedelic house rich in TB-303 acid bass, fizzing electronics and ghostly chords - that most impresses, though IDM-goes-breakbeat bubbler 'Skulpt' and the deep and trippy 'Octagonal Tribe' are also excellent. ROCTIV drops four tracks, flitting between bass-heavy, acid-flecked breakbeat ('Frenezy', 'Living Art'), re-born early 90s progressive house/nu-disco fusion ('No More Room In Hell') and sub-heavy psychedelic sleaziness ('The Confidence').

Out There
Out There - (4:20) 147 BPM Hot
Out There (Unscratched mix) - (4:18) 147 BPM
Review: Bombstrikes welcomes a new collaboration to the label in the form of Boydex, Swim Inc and Lickweed. While these talented artists are making their debut as a trio on the label, their reputation precedes them, having amassed a dedicated following for their eclectic blend of funk-infused rhythms and electronica. "Out There" exemplifies their collective brilliance. Seamlessly merging bluesy undertones with pulsating midtempo basslines and turntablism
Swim Inc: "Teaming up with Boydex, we set out to create something of a stompy banger, walking the fine line between organic bluesy grooves and chunky basslines. To tie the piece together, Lickweed built on those blues band vibes to deliver a guitar solo with a technical turntablist twist and turn the track into something truly out there."

Review: Amentec have done a great job in assembling this top level collection of new school breakbeat action, welcoming no less than 14 artists inside across 13 hard hitting creations. The exciting thing about the project is that it leaves no breaks-inspired stone unturned, featuring the likes of Sound Synthesis, Inkipak, DAWL, Flatliner and more. From the intense, arcade style arrangements of Sub Oscillator's 'Ketzer' remix from Difool, to the more abstract acidity of Bobo's bulging 'Club Proxima', we see such an exciting range on display. Our highlights therefore have to include both the classy club-ready bops of Ova Doce's 'Keep On', next to the cloud-lining euphoria of MOY's 'Jovian Sunrise'. A truly top quality collection.

Still On A Mission - (5:08) 80 BPM
A Little Deeper - (5:14) 152 BPM Hot
Midnight Marauder - (4:06) 144 BPM
Review: Next up from DJ Physical, a fiery four track display expanding across the new school realms of breakbeat, coming to us courtesy of Unknown To The Unknown. We open up with the heavily arpeggiated synthesiser lines and intense 4x4 drum slaps of 'Red Scarf', followed by a switch up in pacing as the more footwork inspired arrangements of 'Still On A Mission' give us a new combination to enjoy. From here, 'A Little Deeper' focusses on dripping percussion and hardcore low ended drum roles, followed by the spacey chord progressions and moody subs of the title track 'Midnight Marauder'.

Hunting Season
Hunting Season - (5:20) 153 BPM
Quick Thinking - (6:11) 140 BPM Hot
The Point Of No Return - (5:57) 141 BPM
Review: Bass Agenda Recordings have struck gold with this latest mission as they welcome the explosive production skill sets of Orlando Voorn inside for three hard hitting breaksy originals, jam-packed with originality from start to finish. We begin with the slumberous rhythmic twists and packed out sub sections of 'Hunting Season', a technophone's nightmare, stuffed to the brim with bleeps and crashes. From here, 'Quick Thinking' then delivers something a little more industrial, focussing on pacey bass bumps and skippy drum sweeps, before the emotive melodies and tooting horn lines of 'The Point Of No Return' arrives for a hard hitting finale. Top stuff indeed!

Electric Vampire - (5:45) 135 BPM
Cattle Beast - (5:49) 135 BPM
Nothing Left To Be Desired - (5:46) 139 BPM Hot
Asche (vox by Nils Fock) - (5:38) 137 BPM
Demonic Toys - (6:45) 137 BPM
Viper In The Trench - (6:15) 137 BPM
Review: L.F.T. makes a bold statement with his latest six-track release on Pinkman, following a string of acclaimed releases on various labels like Mannequin and Return To Disorder. With Electric Vampire, L.F.T. crafts a sonic journey aimed squarely at the dancefloor, blending tough drums and raw basslines with spectral vocals and percussive quirks. The result is a fusion of Dutch electro heritage and horror-movie soundtracks, creating a synthetic super-highway where bright lights meet solid concrete underfoot. With heavy acid electro defining the sound of other numbers like "Cattle Beast", it's straight up Vampire techno in "Asche (Vox by Nils Fock)" with reflections of a Simian Mobile Disco sound in "Demonic Toys". Gritty but classy productions all round.

Mind, Body & Soul (2023 mix) - (4:54) 141 BPM Hot
Rush On Me (original mix) - (4:48) 145 BPM
I Need U (original mix) - (5:39) 150 BPM
Hypnotising (original mix) - (5:07) 142 BPM
Review: Another top quality drop here from Amen Brother, a breakbeat label that continues to impress with their high octane roster out in full force. This time around, DJ Pooch is on hand to unleash four high energy creations, opening with the 2023 mix of 'Mind, Body & Soul', a thumping, carnival ready ramp up that focuses both on gritty bass notation and eerie vocal overlays, before 'Rush On Me' takes a classic 'Dibby Dibby Sound' vocal and lets it loose over an old school hardcore arrangement. Next up, 'I Need U' unloads a more old school feel, focussing on organic drum sounds and euphoric synth lines, before the chirpy chord progressions and acidic basslines of 'Hypnotising' close us off with a bang.

Squal G - "Waiting 4U" - (8:59) 130 BPM
Joaquim Plossu, Salem Focus & Phoebe Train - "Theory Of The Tides" - (5:23) 85 BPM
Yes Basketball - "Next" - (3:29) 60 BPM
Review: Laurent Garnier and Scan X's label does a great job in showcasing emerging and established talent, and this split release is no exception. The brilliantly named Return Of The Luddites deliver the raw electro-techno of "Scream Into The Darkness". In stark contrast, Detroit techno-inspired tracks also loom large, courtesy of Skatman's string-filled "Tribute To A Dancefloor" and Squal G's more ominous "Waiting 4U". Mirroring Garnier's own wide-ranging tastes, the release also features the call and response hip-hop/drum'n'bass crossover of Joaquim Plossu, Salem Focus and Phoebe Train's "Theory Of The Tide". Taking the tempo down, Yes Basketball's "Next" is a slowed down, bugged out beatsy track.
