Amen Brother - (2:32) 132 BPM
Review: It's been slowly drip-fed to us over a 10-month period but now here at last is the full album. On 'Something Like That', Jalapeno bosses Skeewiff celebrate 25 years in the game by paying tribute to some of the music that's inspired them, delivering generally very faithful but also very accomplished reworks of classic tracks by artists ranging from The Winstons and Jimmy Smith to Dick Dale and Herb Alpert. New additions to the roster on this final version include Nancy Sinatra's 'These Boots Are Made For Walking', Muppets 'Mah Na Mah Na', Mel Tormé's Mod club standard 'Coming Home Baby' and, just to prove they're not taking themselves TOO seriously, Boots Randolph's 'Yakety Sax' - better known to most as the 'Benny Hill' theme.

Tigerbalm & Les Amazones D'Afrique - "Sisters" - (4:57) 131 BPM
Review: Following on from the release of her debut album last year and its 'Remixes' counterpart in May, Rose Robinson AKA Tigerbalm now returns with two fresh tracks that once again showcase female vocalists from around the world. 'Nina' finds her collaborating with transnational duo Farafi, while the accompanying 'Sisters' is graced by pan-African supergroup Les Amazones d'Afrique. Both tracks are rooted firmly in traditional African music, with 'Nina' a percussive, chanted affair while 'Sisters' has a more lilting, singsong kinda vibe, but 'Nina' also gets a brace of more house-oriented remixes courtesy of Tel Aviv's Elado (a Razor-N-Tape regular) and Bruno Hovart's Voilaaa project.

Monkey Town - (6:56) 132 BPM
Review: Alert: another Actual Sounds release has arrived! New school nu-skool breaks, if there ever was such a thing! These guys are not messing around and here's why: They start off with a block rockin' remix of "Twist & Shout", "Cypress Pills" is, well... But wait there is more: "2Pac Wine" is a mashup on "Red Red Wine" and a rap by the late great rapper. Elsewhere "Get Your Hold On" mashes up in style again merging Missy Elliot and Kanye, "Love The Police" samples N.W.A. over some fierce Meat Katie style breaks and we'd best not forget "Buttersweet Symphony" which samples 'that' famous track by The Verve over some more fierce breakbeats for U.K. dancefloors. The definitive party starter!

Review: It would be fair to say that Studio K7 has pulled off something of a coup in getting Kenny Dixon Jr. to agree to compile and mix the latest installment in the long-running DJ Kicks series. It is, somewhat remarkably, the legendary Detroiter's first commercially available mix set. This triple-vinyl edition features a whopping 19 cuts - all in unmixed form - from the 30 track mix. Musically, it's a blazed, jazzy, soulful and groovy as you'd expect, and contains a mixture of downtempo beats, nu-jazz and hazy house cuts from the likes of Flying Lotus, Dopehead, Peter Digital Orchestra, Nightmares On Wax, Soulful Session and Lady Alma.

MPC Jam - (5:02) 130 BPM
Review: Cuthead, real name Robert Arnold, hails originally from Moldova but has been based for many years in Dresden, Germany. His musical output has ranged from hip-hop and breaks to disco, house and techno, but this release, the second of our installments that will eventually make up the 'Detour' album, finds him firmly in house mode. While its four tracks are all definitely rooted in deep house, though, they nevertheless also manage to embrace influences from disco, jazz-funk, sci-fi themes and dub - all of which add up to an EP that represents a very worthwhile use of 15 minutes of your life.

Review: When it comes to making drum and bass that strikes a balance between the needs of DJs and home listeners, few are better than Dominick Martin AKA Calibre. It's for this reason that the album format suits him so well. The Deep, his 12th full-length in total, could well be his best set yet. Jam-packed with effortlessly soulful moments, evocative piano flourishes, rich live instrumentation and yearning vocals, it's a far more expansive and ambitious set than most D&B albums. It also supplements his trademark, club-ready rollers with tracks that look to modern soul, jazz breaks, dub and R&B for inspiration. Throughout, Martin barely puts a foot wrong, delivering a set that more than stands up to repeat listens.

Ware Wa - (3:55) 130 BPM
Review: Canada's premiere afro-Latin fusionists Souljazz Orchestra return with their ninth album, Resistance, which arrives a decade after they first announced themselves to the world with the dazzling debut Uprooted. That album was issued on their own Funk Manchu Records, but the collective are firmly within the Strut Records bosom these days with Resistance their fourth album for the UK stronghold. Never a band to tread water, this 10 track collection finds the Souljazz Orchestra exploring new territory on record, explicitly the French Caribbean and Francophone West African influences that have been key to the band from their earliest days. What's most impressive here is the band's sheer versatility with saxman Ray Murray, percussionist Marielle Rivard, drummer Philippe Lafreniere and keyboardist Pierre Chretien all taking on lead vocal duties as Resistance progresses.

Finger On The Trigger (Beatconductor remix - 7 inch mix) - (4:33) 131 BPM
Review: Never a dull moment on this eight-track, 10-mix collection from Sweden's Ture Sj?berg, AKA Beatconductor, which finds him in a re-edit/mash-up frenzy as he reworks a range of classic cuts in often highly unexpected style. Donna Summer's 'Love Is In Control' gets a 60s lounge jazz infusion on 'Finger On The Trigger', Beyonce's 'Crazy Is Love' is given a reggaefied makeover, Angie Stone goes head-to-head with the Steve Miller Band on 'Fly Like A Stone', and so it goes on. Along the way you'll find nods to Stevie Wonder and Tom Jones, before the album's completed by three different mixes of 'Good Vibes' - the Beach Boys if they'd formed in Kingston, JA rather than Hawthorne, CA!

Review: Over the last few years, Martin 'Atjazz' Iveson has spent a fair amount of time mentoring Peacey, a young producer with oodles of talent. That much is proved by the rising star's expansive debut album, a superb 16-track set that combines sizzling colo cuts with a string of inspired collaborations. The Edinburgh-based artist sets his stall out via the luscious horn arrangements and immersive ambient electronics of 'Play It By Ear', before drifting between head-nodding R&B loveliness (Oveous hook-up 'Love In The Forest'), sensual and seductive, soul-flecked deep house ('Hold Me Back' with Clyde and Atjazz), mid-tempo boogie-soul ('Playground' with Rona Ray), dubby and dreamy downtempo grooves ('Last Night's Dream'), deep and techy, spoken word-sporting dancefloor workouts ('Culture Bandit' with Vanessa Hidary) and jazz-funk influenced excellence (LaRoye collab 'In The Distance').

Review: Here's something to set the pulse racing: a collaborative debut album (on Sound Signature, no less) from London broken beat veterans Dego and Kaidi Tatham. As with their previous joint releases on 2000 Black, Rush Hour, Eglo and, of course, Sound Signature, it's the duo's love of rich, jazz-fuelled musicality, sun-kissed melodies and loose, languid rhythms that shines through. There are naturally nods towards disco, boogie, jazz-funk, Afrobeat, hip-hop and classic "bruk", with a stellar cast list of guest musicians and vocalists swinging by to lend a hand. If Herbie Hancock decamped to Ladbroke Grove and made an album with Bugz in the Attic, it would probably sound like this. In our book, that's a very good thing indeed.

Review: For the eight official release under the Dance Regular flag, we see Donsurf arrive in style, sharing six original sizzlers for us to enjoy. Right from the starter pistol we know we are in for a good time as the title track 'Dance With Me' unleashes a warm combination of stripped back breaksy-style drum lines and shimmering chord progressions, morphing swiftly into the distant saxophany of 'Yemaya' and more bulbous bass design of 'Original Dub'. From here we then dive much more into the realms of broken beat and UKG as the super-stuttering switch ups of 'Soundboy' then make an appearance, with the more relaxed synthetic sweeps and groovy percussive interludes of 'Brazilintime' are pushed to the front. Finally' 'Biguine Steps' sees the project out with a sharpened showcase of powerful drum pressures and groovy bass additions, seeing out a solid collection with some serious finesse!

Harold Matthews Jr & Sean McCabe - "Love And Hate" (Wipe The Needle remix) - (6:39) 133 BPM
Review: Earlier in the year, Good Vibrations music founder Sean McCabe offered up his interpretations of tracks from Blak Beatniks main man Harold Matthews Jr's excellent debut album, 'Peripheral Visions'. For this second selection of 'Re-visions', McCabe has assembled a crack team of remixers. Rising star Piers Kirwan steps up first to rework 'Into You', placing the spoken and sung vocals above a dreamy and sun-soaked fusion of deep house and broken beat. Wipe The Needle fuse bruk and jazz-funk sounds on their excitable take on 'Love And Hate', before Haze City delivers a genuinely atmospheric and ultra-deep interpretation of 'Deep Into My Sleep'. To round things off, we're treated to an instrumental version of Kirwan's superb, EP-opening 'Into You' remix.

Acelere (DJ Khalab remix) - (4:30) 130 BPM
Review:  On The Corner Records is seemingly capable of delivering the very best in new tribal house and disco, a quality which will not go unnoticed from our end, because it's just so refreshing to hear this sort of material in this day and age. "Acelere" is a triumphant, funky ballad with buoyant South American vocals and an African sort of vibe; DJ Jose Marquez keeps the lyrics while stripping everything else back to a delicate and glitchy minimal groove made for the contemporary DJ. DJ Khalab delivers his own house version of the tune, a gloriously progressive number with an arrangement full of sounds movement, followed by and capped off with an instrumental of Marquez's own remix.
