First chart of the new year. We're deep into our summer down here, and there's a couple of tunes that made the cut which have that sun-drenched vibe. Martin Patino and Metaplazmus (both new names for me) deliver on that front, as do the old skool vibes on L Vis 1990's 'Compass'.
Meanwhile, Pantha du Prince approaches the purest form of his sound with his collaboration with the Bell Laboratory - 'Spectral Split' is a genuinely sublime meeting of electronic and organic worlds and a beautifully sustained composition.
Eskmo delivers another solid EP that moves between John Roberts-esque wobbly house and slower rhythms, all pinned down by some epic synth work. Visionquest's latest offering moves into a deeper, more mysterious sound that usual, much like Barnt's remix of 'Voigt Kampf Test'.
