Soundboy is a term too often casually thrown around - a title more so earned and unintended to be hastily given. Perpetually on the hunt to uncover the next coveted Dancefloor weapon, enduring audio collective Dungeon Kru have more than earned the Soundboy designation many times over.
Established in 2003, Dungeon Kru burst onto the scene with their long-running bassjunkees.com internet radio show. Featuring special guest appearances from top UK based performers and Toronto’s never-ending supply of adept selectors and MCs, Dungeon Kru’s Live from the G.T.A show proved to be instrumental in establishing them amongst the ranks of Drum & Bass’ top up-and-coming talents.
The accolades and awards soon followed as the collective took home the Toronto Drum and Bass Awards titles for Best Internet Radio Show in 2008 and Best Breakthrough DJ in 2009. Crowned champions of the 2015 Toronto Jungle Sound clash, Dungeon Kru discovered a forum to showcase their unrivaled selection and mixing prowess to the world.
Refusing to rest on their respective laurels, Dungeon Kru established the Lickwood & Gunshot imprint in 2019. Publishing a dynamic range of Drum & Bass sounds, the burgeoning label has already managed to chart multiple times across several top online music boutiques.
Taking the next leap forward in their evolution, Dungeon Kru have focused their collective energy on the production side of things. Welcoming prodigious studiosmith Visuals (ENG) to the fold, charter members DJ Slick (CAN) and Willy Gyalis (CAN) have formed a formidable beat making triumvirate poised to leave an indelible impression on the Drum & Bass landscape. With music already signed for forthcoming release on established independents Liondub International and Playside 175 Recordings, 2020 is shaping up to be a banner year for Dungeon Kru.
