"Is It All Over My Face" EP Out Now!
Juno Review: Few outfits in the nu-disco scene are quite as experienced as Mirror People. The Lisbon-based artist has been serving up colourful, floor-ready treats for the best part of a decade, though this EP on band member Rui Maia's Belong Records imprint might be their best collection of cuts to date. Covering Loose Joints classic "Is It All Over My Face" is fraught with danger, but we can confirm that they've done a terrific job, primarily by retaining the wonky looseness and dub-flecked quirkiness of the Arthur Russell/Steve D'Aquisto original. Elsewhere, they provide a chunkier disco cover of Ralphi Rosario's early Chicago house classic "You Used To Hold Me" (here titled "Hold Me"), pay tribute to John Carpenter soundtracks on "Taste of Murder" and go all jaunty and spacey on the arpeggio-driven sleaze of "What Is Luv?".
