Review: Booty Fruit's DJ Maars joins forces with newcomer Tom Showtime for some seriously delicious sound mash-ups for this EP. "Heatwave Episode" is a funked-out re-edit of Dr.Dre's and Snoop Dogg's infamous "The Next Episode", whilst "Hungry Busta" puts a real dancehall vibe over Busta Rhyme's inimitable vocal machine-gun bursts. "Rocksteady Up" re-fixes yet another early 2000's hip hop gem "Ante-Up", and "Champion Steez" goes all breakbeat/ska mode, introducing some rather rapacious Jamaican lyrics over that booty-shaking groove.

Review: It's been a while since Irish party slappers Dirty Dubster delivered a ragga package but here we find them making up for lost time with four rock steady heaters. No genre unturned, each cut reps ragga's broadest reaches: "Walk Like A Champ" swings low with a guttural dancehall feel, "Bangerz N' Goulash" tips a nod at a Diplo classic over a salubrious digidub groove while "Follow Me" shreds up on a high energy D&B flex. For most, though, the key cut will be KayPod's Marley-mashing "Could You Be Push Forward". Could this be loved? Yes siree.

Across the 10 track set we're treated a bouncy, sun-kissed take on Eve's "Gangsta Lovin", a tight skank-flexed take on The Beatnuts "Off The Books", a Vadim-style contemporary digi dub take on Nate Dogg's "Good Life" and a very authentic rendition of "Still Dre". Review: Dirty Dubster's popular Ragga Party Jams series continues, with another quartet of dubwise mash-ups and reggae/hip-hop futures. Larry SKG kicks things off with "Hypocrites", an expertly crafted fusion of a classic soulful reggae riddim and well-chosen hip-hop samples. DJ Maars' "Just Like Music" blends a familiar rap vocal and sunshine reggae jam with vocal cuts from a classic Marvin Gaye slow jam, while DJ Rebel's "Here Comes The Mashupper" layers a skanking riddim with all manner of familiar vocal samples. Best of all, though, is "I Shot Big L", in which Bob Marley takes a trip into scratchy reggae hip-hop territory. It shouldn't work, but it's sympathetically produced and sounds like a sunshine anthem in the making.

Review: Dirty Dubster head to the Czech Republic's darkest, dirtiest dancehalls as they invite Supa John to the fold for his debut release. "Love Dem Bad" is brutal and bashy. Gravelly vocals a go-go; it's an instant grinder. "This Is Sensi Jam" is much more chilled as we relax into a soft sexy skank. "Gimmie Di Weed" takes a well-known Nextmen lick and flips it into a herb homage while "High Rope" completes the set with a shimmering skank and full focus on heartfelt R&B-esque vocals from Janelle Monae. An impressively accomplished debut.

Review: Irish wobble-maestros Dirty Dubsters continue their relentless assault on the junodownload charts, unveiling "Girls Pon Mi Mind" a eminently carnival ready collaboration with Champion UK Deejay Top Cat, which comes backed with some switch em up remixes. The original version pays equal attention to the chunked out beats as it does the authentic dubbed out skank riddims that shift in and out of focus along with some vintage JA horns, whilst Top Cat's distinctive delivery rides the circa 140bpm bump with aplomb. Those wanting something a bit rowdier will no doubt be satisfied by the accompanying remixes from Liondub and Spenda C which flip "Girls Pon Mi Mind"in a vintage jungle stylee and main room dumbstep way respectively.

Review: Label newcomer Canopy Records, compiled and conceptualised by label head Sumosui, sends out some super Afro transmission for this first release. 'Africa No 1' is a single that features a superb tune from Benin City in Edo State, Nigeria, which was first put out locally in 1987. It is by the late great Nigerian reggae artist Ehi Duncan and his The Africa Army Express band and next to the uplifting original are two new mixes from Captain Planet. He brings the tune into the modern day with some tight key, horn and synth sounds for the first mix, and the second is a slower, more mid-tempo bit of afro disco. Lovely vibes.

Review: Long-standing collaborators Binga and Shafique continue to go pound for pound on this bulbous nine-track EP. Eight originals and one stone cold Perez remix, this one's a danger session as a vibrant, dancehall thrust sizzles throughout. Highlights include the dreamy chorus on "Check Di New", the Carpenter style motifs on "Pot Ah Bubble", the squid bass and textured twist on Rider's smoky vox on "Rootsman Tonic" and the incredible surge of emotion on "Chinchilla" thanks to its beautiful rising chords on the finale. And that's before we even get to Alix's deep space twister take on "Highly Blessed". Nothing short of essential.

Review: Music For The People return with their eighth release by none other than main edit man, Krakowski, who has already injected a great deal of boogie retouching into the label thanks to his previous EP. "Skabotage" opens things up in true stepper style, bringing in those brass horns and placing them over some Beastie Boys lyrics to mix things up more than ever before! "The Final Skankdown" is more of a lover's rock ting, re-hashing a track that's almost too famous to name, whereas "Dubbing My Religion" adds a roots-style percussion work over yet another pop anthem. Finally, "La Bambska" slows the original "Bamba" down to blissful reggae tones - incredible
