Review: Acid Pauli and Nico Stojan's label presents the original film score and soundtrack for the new German film 'Once upon a time there was Indian's Land' which is centred around 12 brand new songs by Acid Pauli aka Martin Gretschmann (The Notwist, Console) who plays a central role via his close collaboration with director Ilker Catak. Gretschmann's music is eclectic and adventurous. from dystopic, carnivalesque moods via moments of high intensity to deep melancholia and fragile atmosphere - boundaries are being teared down. Sometimes psychedelic and far out, sometime focused, catchy with one eye for the dancefloor: but never predictable. The soundtrack is a mixture of his old and new tracks plus music of artists that he works with.
Review: Spectrum Spools have had a year that's been nothing short of stellar, and we've only just reached the half way point. Competing with The Motion Sickness of Time Travel's self-titled album in our affections for Spectrum Spools release of the year, Outer Space land with Akashic Record. An ensemble led by label curator and Emeralds member John Elliott, the record resembles the arpeggio led soundscapes of his more well known group, but sans guitars, with music that both ripples with the hypnotic pulse of the universe's unseen workings and resembles the best synth based soundtrack work of the 80s and early 90s. Fans of John Carpenter and Tangerine Dream take note.

Review: Since launching, Public Information have impressed with stylistically varying releases from contemporary artists such as Ekoplekz, Austin Ceaser, No UFOs and Gatekeeper's Aaron David Ross as well reissuing the work of the overlooked British electronic musician FC Judd. Tomorrow's Achievements: Parry Music Library 1976-86 sees the label indulge their archival tendencies with a compilation made up from an exclusive trip to the archives of the Toronto-based music institution. The bewildering 25 track selection covers proto-Balearic house, electronic disco, drone, and weird radiophonic electronica, most of which will be faintly recognizable to those of a certain age. Once again Public Information have excelled themselves with yet another esoteric release that illuminates the strange alternate reality their aesthetic occupies, and is easily the best collection of library sounds since Permanent Vacation's first Space Oddities collection was released in 2008.
