Review: Aside from hosting a pretty spectacular line-up each and every June in the Amsterdam area, Dekmantel also know how to lay down some hard dance tunes and, since their inception, they have been a pillar to the modern house and techno spectrum. This series of releases marks ten years of activity from the Dutch crew, and they certainly know how to celebrate in style - Bufiman's opening "Hymn To The Moonface" is a stunning slice of progressive sci-fi rolling, Betonkust and Palbomen II's number is sleek and tech-minded, while Scotland's Space Dimension Controller rolls through with some spectacularly cinematic electro-tech, and Lena Willikens' appearance is marked by raucous bass tones and sharp-edged beats. Review: Damon Jee and Snem K havce moved from party-ready house and techno to far-out swarms of Neo-romantic cold wave...and that's absolutely fine by us! The duo team up for this new EP on Rotten City Flies, kicking of with the nostalgic yet progressive dance aesthetics of "Dear Humans" - sounding a list like Ian Curtis in his golden days - before dropping into the steelier sounds of "Do Carry On", another 80s-leaning dance number. There's two remixes on the flip: Demian's more house-centric version of the title track, whereas legend Mugwump transforms "Do Carry On" into a cinematic big beat roller that'll do more than fine at most festivals. BAD!

Review: There's no shortage of dark, throbbing leftfield disco around right now. If such is your bag, then here's a two-track, four-mix EP you might wanna check for. Opener 'Paninari On Acid' blurs the lines between Italo, EBM/new beat and acid house, while Niv Ast's remix pushes the track more firmly into the 'acieeeed!' zone and is the pick to these ears. The EP's other original, 'Tenere', is an even moodier, midtempo affair - if you were soundtracking a brutal spy thriller set in early 80s Berlin, it'd be perfect - while a techno-Italo rerub from Fabrizio Mammarella completes the package.

Review: Ede and Deckert's wholehearted 2023 tribute to "80s alternative dance music", 'Immer', has been given the remix treatment. Narciss provides two contrasting takes: a 'Venice' version that re-imagines 'Immer' is a throbbing, all-action indie-dance anthem in the making (think Phones remixing the Futureheads, and you're close) and a grittier, delay-laden 'Salford Mix' that sounds like a tribute to Factory Records post-punk-dance period. Elsewhere, Curses deliver a mix that joins the dots between dreamy synth-pop and low-slung post-punk disco, Kid Simius joins the dots between proto-house and Hi-NRG, and Cinthie turns the track into a nostalgic, suitably sizable, big room house anthem.

Review: Canary Islands-based producer Ilya Santana released his great full-length The Retrowave Album last year on his very own Astrolead Recordings. He's back with the second part of the album now; the first track being "Love Savior" a neon-lit Italo disco number with an impassioned vocal that is pure bliss. There's also an featured instrumental and a remix comes from Jason Core (Feverball/Boite) who injects more dancefloor dynamics into the track by way of the rhythm department, yet retaining that terrific guitar solo.

Review: Having released the music from Pete Herbet & Danton Eeprom to Inigo Vontier and Tronik Youth in the past, La Dame Noir have their sound covered when it comes to deep house, funky club, disco with baerlic toppings. This four track various artist EP brings to the table a mixed bag of remixes from the label's other known affiliates like Max Jones, Motel 77 and Middle Sky Boom. The looped vocals of Did Virgo's "Expression" - and its searing synthlines - deliver a trance-like quality, with more EBM inspired tech-trance making its way into No_LP's remix of Sara Zinger. Dawad's remix of "Morning Call" turns in something reminiscent to Miss Kitten & The Hacker, with an indie-electro shake up, replete with rock guitars, hitting all the right spots in Damon Jee's remix to "Shakira".

Review: There's much to admire on this latest 12" excursion from hard-working Israeli duo Red Axes. On the A-side you'll find two brand new collaborations, the most notable of which is "NYX Tape" - a clandestine, mind-altering chunk of minimal wave drug-chug featuring the distinctive spoken word vocals of original no wave star Gina X (she of "No GDM" fame). Chloe Raunet AKA C.A.R lends her similarly stylish spoken word vocals to the EP's other original production, the acid-fired electro filthiness that is "5 Min". On the flipside you'll find two tasty re-edits of tracks from the Dark Entries catalogue: a dub-tinged, dancefloor-friendly take on Solid Moon's spacey "Destination Moon" and a rolling, club-ready tweak of X-Ray Pop's quirky electronic bubbler "La Machine a Rever".
