Review: There's much to admire on this latest 12" excursion from hard-working Israeli duo Red Axes. On the A-side you'll find two brand new collaborations, the most notable of which is "NYX Tape" - a clandestine, mind-altering chunk of minimal wave drug-chug featuring the distinctive spoken word vocals of original no wave star Gina X (she of "No GDM" fame). Chloe Raunet AKA C.A.R lends her similarly stylish spoken word vocals to the EP's other original production, the acid-fired electro filthiness that is "5 Min". On the flipside you'll find two tasty re-edits of tracks from the Dark Entries catalogue: a dub-tinged, dancefloor-friendly take on Solid Moon's spacey "Destination Moon" and a rolling, club-ready tweak of X-Ray Pop's quirky electronic bubbler "La Machine a Rever".

Review: Tel-Aviv's Asef Samuel and Katzele have been progressing their Malka Tuti label in a stunning manner, bringing plenty of new talents and exciting new sounds to the foray, ranging from house to electro and even onto starry cold-wave. Xen & Yovam are back together for this latest EP, with both artists already having appeared on the label. "Hayom Etmol" is the dance number, spear-headed by deep, growling synths and a mechanical beat structure, while "Shavit" borrows much more from new age and neo-romance, offering a truly sensual episode of Israeli electronica.

Review: Having worked together since 2006 as a duo with a healthy interest in new wave and synth pop, Xeno And Oaklander make the leap from a regular run of releases on Wierd Records to the wider pastures of Ghostly International where their mildly gothic tones sit comfortably. The sound across all nine tracks hangs together with a distinctly Human League flavour, from the boy-girl interplay of the vocals to the cascading arpeggios, but it's the gutsy pop nous that hits home first and foremost. Whether it's the more brooding fare of previous single "Par Avion" or the uptempo throb of "Lastly", these are songs to unashamedly sing along to.

Review: Xeno and Oakland have now become important players in the Ghostly International circuit, and their gothic take on synth pop and coldwave is always a burst of surprise and inspiration to us. This new album Topiary has a way of pulling you in that's totally unexpected from something of this nature; each song unravels a strange yet wonderful story, almost like love ballads these tunes travel with an electronic guise but they are very much poppy in nature. Most importantly of all, they are songs that can be enjoyed by many different listeners, from industrial fans to indie lovers who want something a bit different, this might well be the fix they're looking for.
