Review: It's an exciting time for the Locus sound crew, who have once again delivered a fabulous box of goodies with this weighty new collection from 11th Hour, focussing on three heavyweight dubstep rollers, stuffed to the brim with futuristic subby goodness. We open up with 'Foolish', over which we hear a combination of gritty vocal displays and thumping marching subs, before the heavily bitcrushed sound design of 'Takeover' then takes us into a slightly more abstract chamber. From here, we then move into a killer finale in 'Levitation', a murky fusion of silky synthesiser slides and gritty bass notation, all tied together with some serious eerie atmospheric work, rounding off an awesome project in style.

Review: It appears that FatKidOnFire show no intent of slowing down their storming start to the decade as they unveil yet another top quality four tracker, this time inviting the sounds of 11th Hour to display the magic. We begin with a dive into the breathy lead melodies and hypnotic sub textures of 'Gorilla Glue', before 'Stryker' combines a more grizzly sounding bass instrument with big room snare smacks and subtle horn injections. Next up, 'Murda' arrives with something a little different, packing the mix with suspenseful delays and reverberations above clinical sub bass designs, before finishing everything off on the fabulous percussion lines and system ready low end of 'Plasmator'. A top quality selection to say the least.

Review: Next up, we see the return of the Basskruit crew as they welcome the ever-ready production mastery of 11th Hour inside for a five track display of dubstep-dominance. We begin with the gnarly bass squishes and almost retro distortion of 'Forensics', before the super wonky bitcrushed bass pulses of 'Hijacked' give us a swampy masterclass. The aquatic bass sizzles and demonic horn sweeps of 'Headrush' then follow before the flickering synth pops and scattered drums of 'Chimera' give way to 'Orbital' a perfect outro, doused in chunky bass energy from start to finish. The Basskruit team have most certainly done it again!

Review: Uprise Audio are a label we can always rely on to bring us some serious dubstep flavour, a task in which they have held their own for the entire year. This latest two track pairing from 11th Hour is a perfect example of the sound the label are proud to represent, with 'Hyperspace' kicking us off with some stunning sub work and drum design as the A-side. On the flip to this we are given 'Bravo Zulu', a more marching style of composition, built to cause somewhat of a ruckus in the dance with it's hard hitting sub line and sharp snare delays. Lovely stuff!

Review: Next up from the ever-ready After Dark Music imprint, we see them welcome the super-versatile sounds of 11th Hour, who unveils four tracks of original steppers flavour to enjoy with this spicy new EP. We begin with distant, eastern melodies and sandy soundscapes of 'Ashkhar', which sets the tone beautifully. Next, we get swampy flavours by the dozen as 'Awaken' moves us forward with some stunning synth design, before 'Revolution' delivers a pulsating steppers display of intricate percussive power and carefully processed reverbs. Finally, we move into the incredible stuttered bass rolls and sub slaps of 'Arcane', which puts the finishing touches on an exceptional project from all involved!

Review: When 123MRK's Noname EP dropped in 2011 creating waves all around the dubstep and bass music scene. Moulding the sound of his generation into a style all his own, the Frenchman suddenly found himself held aloft as an innovator as well as simply a producer of sounds. This remixed release of his seminal EP was a lofty undertaking and the finished item features remixes from some of the future dubstep scene's brightest young stars alongside long-time innovators. From Liar's metalic, lo-fi flavours to Troy Gunner's understated clicks and swirls; ViLLAGE's heart-pounding house remodelling to Heblank's old-school twist, even the likes of Pixelord and ReSketch play their garage-influenced hands to create an all-new modern-day canvas of what exactly bass music is right at this moment. It can never be truly defined, but this is a pretty good encyclopedia.

Review: As ever with In:flux Audio, the team have worked their socks off to deliver another show stopping selection of dubstep flavour, this time giving the central role to 1point5. There is no disappointment to be had as 'Solar Signal' firstly kicks us off with a warbling selection of LFO-leads are met with tap dancing percussive pushes and a minimalist set of melodies, before the aquatic arrangements and devilish, twisting melodies of 'Backspace' steer us in a completely different direction. Next, 'Cassini' gives us a much more grizzly sound, with more swampy bass processing taking centre stage for this gnarly creation, before we move into two spicey remixes. Firstly, Ali McK & IYZ return to the In:flux fold for a glittering rework of 'Backspace', jam packed with interesting melodic twists, before Fork & Knife provides a super skippy rethink of 'Solar Signal', twisting it into a garage-inspired party boat.

Last Time (original mix) - (4:12) 140 BPM
In The Dark (Qwirk remix) - (4:33) 140 BPM
Review: We have another tasty helping of sonic sweetness from the In:flux Audio crew here as they welcome back the explosive flavours of 1point5, who unleashes four tracks of pure heat for us to enjoy. The introduction sees 'In The Dark' arrive, a smartly designed amalgamation of euphoric vocal presses, sticky synthesiser bubbles and spacey drum processing, before the more mystic melodies and stripped back drum designs of 'Settle' take us down a more magical avenue. From here, 'Last Time' pulls together a dizzying combination of blippy synthesiser hops and industrial guitar sweeps for a more metallic overhaul, before finishing the project off in the remix corner. We see Qwirk take up the mantle with his powerful overhaul of 'In The Dark', a gnarly rethink of the title track that gives the EP a nice final dash of spice.

Review: The boys at In:flux Audio are back at it again, this time unleashing a wicked link up EP between label founders: Tik&Borrow and the more recently acquired sounds of 1Point5. We begin with the breakbeat-stepper fusion of 'Thunder Dub', a futuristic electronic masterclass, jam packed with interesting rhythmic expressions and fluttering metallic melodies. Next, 'Dirty Sean' continues along a similar vibe with more raucous breakbeat action, focussing on a less intrusive but no less potent bassline below. As well as this, J.Kong gives 'Thunder Dub' a complete overhaul, sending in an army of LFO's to wonk out the dance in style!

Review: The reign of Duploc continues to expand as we are here greeted with their 27th official release, and it packs just as much potency as the first one they ever put together. They here employ the darkened production stylings of 207, who touches down with two absolutely lethal originals, the first of which goes by the name of ''DSP'. Through a high energy combination of gnarly reese growls and stalwart drum sounds, this one marches forward with some serious pace. On the flip, 'Jungle Lizard' does just as much damage, focussing more of extended, distorted bass tones and war-like drum designs. Crunchy stuff!

Review: We are rarely disappointed when it comes to the pretty untouchable discography of White Peach Records, a label that continues to defy boundaries whilst upholding inhuman levels of consistency. This latest four track treat from 207 explores a bag of different musical themes, from the subtle, eastern-inspired pluck melodies of the title track 'Koto', to the unpredictable melodic sweeps of 'Mrtav', which give us two entirely different moods right from the jump. Ourman joins the party next on 'Clochard', with through it's urgent string manoeuvres and nasty low end design gives off an instantaneously classic feel, with the EP then closing out on on 'Ziv', a breathy crunch through gnarly instrumentation and clicky percussion to see the EP out in blistering style. Lovely work!

Review: Well established Croatian dubsmith presents his most diverse and boundary-pushing body of work to date: Brainstorm. A genre-defying project that applies his grimy, unforgiving tightly textured funk in a number of tempos and contexts, this is an album that seamlessly takes us from the light, loose-limbed 125 styles of "Ground Zero" to the brutal steppy D&B funk of "Clap Back" in the flick of a switch. Other brain-bending moments include the steady dub kicks and pranged out tones of "Acid Dust", the dusty jazz key strikes on "You Knw Wsp" and the pulverising halftime punch of "Shocker". The only shocker here would be to sleep on this... Easily one of Macabre Unit Digital's boldest and most boundary-less releases to date.

Review: Is it us or are Bacon getting tastier and tastier with every release? The same can be said for emerging Croatian producer 207, too; with previous on Badmood and Indigo, here we find him stepping up to Sparxy's porky imprint with a series of unrelentingly heavy slabs of contemporary dubstep. The title track is total naked menace as snake-like kickdrums rattle and his under a series of deep breath textures. Elsewhere "Acylon" flips to a steppy and ghostly 90BPM vibe, "Active" goes straight for the jugular with crisp punctuated kick militancy and Ohmtrix takes his Zeiph status to new levels with total remix subversion. Sinfully good.

Review: It's actually becoming quite a scary prospect to see people compete with Foundation Audio, who's release catalogue continues to grow and improve as we move further into 2019. This latest helping is served to us by 3WA, who gets extremely spooky from the off on the haunted tones of 'Glory', before the rapid-fire LFO twists of the title track 'Black Marsh' roll into view. Next, the bumping percussive maneuvers and spacey processing of 'Protect Ya Neck' really does the business before the unusual sounding 'Blackbird' brings an extra dash of originality to the pot before we finish up.

The title track kicks us off, which is well titled 'Tripping', packed to the rafters with wonky grooves and deep LFO patterns. Next we delve into the super swampy mass of 'Caves', which swings it's way forward through dubbed out drum designs and potent subs. To follow, we have more syncopated sauce with 'Tom's Basement', before rounding off this project with 'Elephants Memory', a super eerie dungeon dwelling beast, putting the cherry on the cake for sure.

Review: We are most definitely starting to run out of ways to describe the pure brilliance that we can find within the Foundation Audio catalogue, which continues upon it's top quality run with this one as 3wa lands four sizzling dubstep originals. We begin with 'Bronca', a heavyweight warbling behemoth, dripping with interesting percussive flavour throughout, followed by the more swamp-laiden LFO sizzles of 'Old Mount' and shimmering metallic synth plucks of 'Bloody Mess' to follow. Finally, the charming melodic drifts and bouncing rhythmic arrangements of 'Worms' puts the final touches on the project, again solidifying the dominance of Foundation Audio in 2020.

Review: Across the breadth of 2021, there aren't many heads who have been able to amass as crazy a catalogue as 3WA, who despite a high multitude of releases is yet to drop the ball in 2021. This latest drop sees him link up with Subaltern for four system-dusting rollers, kicking off with the swampy synthesizer growls and frog-like LFO's of 'Master Of Finances', giving us a real taste of original dubstep flavour. Next, the dizzying drum slaps and spacy processing of 'Slimy' gives us a more stripped back dose of goodness before 'Balaclava' ties stuttering percussive delays together with spooky vocal sampling and a twisted selection of synths for another sonic masterclass. Finally, 'Stalagmites Rain' unleashes a destructive display of pulsating industrial bass drones, marching away through a soundscape of aquatic droplets and shapeshifting sonics, giving us a whomping closer to a wicked selection.

We begin our exploration of this one with a scuba mask as the aquatic backdrops and delays of 'Acido Maligno' are unveiling in all their shimmering glory, next to 'Yoshimitsu', the title track that happens to be jam-packed with bubbling conga action and unusual synthetic overlays, before the more system-ready sub squeaks of 'Mist' switches up the vibe once again with a heavyweight sub arrangement. Finally, 'Beam' bursts onto the scene with another drippy combination of unique instrumentation, giving this exciting collection a buzzy closer, rounding it off in style.

This time they welcome the sounds of 3WA, who kicks us off with a monstrous bang on 'Sea Witch'. This is a sub-heavy system-focussed stick of dynamite, combining eastern-inspired melodic twists with an organic display of percussive precision and a gnarly low-end to match. On the flip, the rhythms take us somewhere completely new as skippy, tripletted bass pulses and unpredictable drum-switches rain fire upon a dancefloor. Very tidy stuff indeed from the Boka crew!

Immortal Combat
Skeleton Symphony - (4:54) 140 BPM Hot
Royal Rumble - (5:04) 140 BPM
Played by: Mentha, Alert, GAZE ILL
Review: Following a long line of luminaries such as Drew's Theory, John Matrix and Chad Dubz, Portuguese bass-smith 3WA makes his Cue Line debut with two unique constructions: "Skeleton Symphony" rattles the bones with its active bassline that buzzes up and down the spectrum with a raw sense of funk. "Royal Rumble", meanwhile, invites us to step in the ring with some wily percussive fighting talk, crafty sample use and tripped out reverse techniques. Head-bending.

Review: Two consecutive shots fired on Cue Line's digital series: 3WA follows up last year's "Immortal Combat" with three new smoulder sessions. "Entao" lets the undulating sub do all the talking the beats space themselves as far out as possible. Things get progressively heavier; "Weednesday" hints at the promise of a foggy sesh before dropping into a sharp, industrial strength groove while "Bye Bye" fuses elements of techno and UK funky into the mix with demolishing results. Pure thunder.

3WA X Causa
3WA - "Glowing Mushrooms" - (4:38) 140 BPM Hot
Causa - "Fatcap" - (4:35) 140 BPM
3WA - "Repellant" (3WA remix) - (4:18) 140 BPM
Causa - "Flick Knife" (Causa remix) - (4:24) 140 BPM
Review: This has been a terrific year of releases for both 3WA and Causa, so to see them teaming up for a joint EP on Cutcross Recordings was undoubtedly a very exciting moment for most dubstep fans across the globe. The project is jam-packed with potency, kicking off with the warbling wonders of 'Glowing Mushrooms', 3WA's hard hitting introductory number. Causa then delivers a combination of glittering shaker delays and spacey synth beeps on 'Fatcap', before the pair get to work spinning each-others originals into brand new bombshells. 3WA steps up first to turn 'Repellant' a system-ready shackout, focussing on guttural bass drives and eerie melodic twists, before 'Flick Knife' sees a set of dizzying percussive stabs skate across the midrange, assisted by shivering synthesiser pulses and a gnarly bassline to match. Powerful stuff!

Review: Fresh from his rampant jungle and breakneck breakbeat excursions, LA vibe infuser 6Blocc takes respite in his dungeon for a series of deeper dub jams. Ranging from the super-minimal, slimy-walled sludge of "Dark Side" to the ricochet-rhythm and MC-peppered dynamics of "Illusion" via the steppier militancy and spoken word weirdness of "Wake Up Call" and the pure titanium rhythm of "Break & Eliminate", it's 6Blocc at his deepest and darkest. And yet more evidence of his versatility.

Review: Last spotted messing with the Wu, 6Blocc takes us even further back in time for his own dub side of the moon. A true Floydian odyssey rebooted for the modern bass lover, subtly is the name of 6Blocc's game: the paranoid, way-ahead-of-its-time "Run" gets a lick of 303 and swinging breakbeat, "Speak" retains all its dreamy majesty while the iconic moans and cries of "Sky" are stretched out from midnight fumble to 24-hour marathon. Elsewhere the till-chiming riff of "Money" is smothered in blankets of sub while "Colour" is galvanised with a classic Dig Your Own Hole era big beat. To some this may err on heresy, but to others this is a trip like no other. See you on the other side.

Review: There has been nothing released by dubstep stalwart Raoul Gonzalez under his 6Blocc alias so far this year, but now the Lo Dubs regular returns to the fray with this fresh bag of tricks for Digital 6. "Babylon Blood Sucka" is a slow-stepping jam with a great vocal sample, while "Rudeboy (Dub)" brings even more roots flavours into the mix alongside plenty of jungle break heat. "Arrriginal" is equally fuelled by reggae skanks and dub FX with some of the old-skool grit, before "Afrika (dub)" ramps up the intensity with some monstrous bass and tribal percussion. "Bad Attitude (Dub)" finishes the EP off with a heavy swanging lurcher that counts amongst the heaviest on the release.

Stomper - (6:00) 140 BPM
Broken Dub - (4:10) 140 BPM
Review: The crew over at LDH have provided us with a tasty bag of snacks for this one as they welcome the enigmatic production pallet of 7Kidz to the table, unveiling four sub-heavy rollers that all pack one heck of a slap. Firstly, 'Murder' arrives with a strong focus on gut-punching sub lines and bone-chilling synth melodies, before 'Vacuum' minimises the drums and amplifies those sub textures even further for a haunted, low-ended throwdown. Next up, 'Stomper' gives us a more march-like feel as unique drum sounds and a tide-like sense of atmosphere rises and falls with every new step, before 'Broken Dub' gives us one heck of a closer, focussing on sharply processed drum stabs and a more creeping synthetic feeling. A real box of treats!
