Flex Ya Chest EP

Flex Ya Chest - (2:51) 140 BPM
Big Four Five (140 VIP mix) - (4:06) 140 BPM Hot
All For You - (3:13) 140 BPM
Area Code - (2:48) 150 BPM
Played by: DJ Hybrid, DARK MOON
Review: The legendary DJ Hybrid is back in business with another top quality collection, unloading four garage-inspired bumpers on this brand new EP. The title track 'Flex Ya Chest' takes centre stage from the off, exploring old school garage vocal overlays and hard hitting sublines to kick the EP off in serious style. Next, a 140 VIP mix of 'Big Four Five', utilising a hard hitting vocal line atop a bed of quivering LFO lines and choppy drum textures, before the super smooth sub notation of 'All For You' gives us another thunderous display in close pursuit. Finally, 'Area Code' ups the pace significantly with a dancefloor-ready rumbler, focussing on fidgeting synth lines and smooth pads to give us a slightly alternative closer.

Antagonist - (5:03) 140 BPM
Hollow - (4:08) 140 BPM Hot
Insurgent - (4:13) 140 BPM
Behind The Sun - (3:54) 140 BPM
Review: Perfect NL once again proves to be a top notch home for the one and only TMSV, who touches down with a face melting collection of 140 wobblers. We open up with the glitchy backdrops and constantly evolving sublines of 'Antagonist', a highly atmospheric journey through dungeon-like 140 themes to kick the project off in real style. Next, a more traditional marcher named 'Hollow', focussing on gritty LFO sweeps, followed by the moody sub switch ups and more stripped back rhythms of 'Insurgent'. We then jump into 'Behind The Sun' a glittering twist of mesmerising soundscaping that closes off the project with real finesse.

Psychosis (original mix) - (4:02) 140 BPM Hot
Militia (feat Flowdan - original mix) - (3:05) 128 BPM
Alix Perez & Visages - "Circadian" (original mix) - (4:45) 140 BPM
Alix Perez & Ebb - "Hazchem" (original mix) - (4:28) 140 BPM
Review: Once again, the legendary skill sets of Alix Perez are on show for all to see, with this sizzling new collection of 140 rollers looking like another monumental collection from 1985 Music. First up, Psychosis gives us a swampy stomp through gnarly bass drones and bone-chilling atmospheric excitations, followed by Flowdan's killer appearance on 'Militia', a more abstract tweak fest across metallic reverberations and hard hitting, poetic lyricism. Next, glittering synth work gives us more rumbling goodness on 'Circadian', which sees Visages join the party, before Ebb lands of 'Hazchem' for one final smokey spike of original stepper flavour. Top stuff all around

Swang - (4:43) 140 BPM
El Affair - (4:39) 140 BPM
Shitfire - (4:33) 140 BPM
Review: As always, the Deep, Dark & Dangerous crew are out in full force with this latest drop, welcoming the ever-ready sounds of Isded inside for four swampy stompers, destined to set dances alight in the murkiest of settings. We open up with the haunted LFO slams of 'Dig It', a super potent roller that leads us nicely into the hypnotic sub designs of the title track 'Swang', setting the tone nicely across the first half of the EP. from here, thing get even more minimal as the creeping melodies and clunky percussive pips of 'El Affair' give us another smokey backdrop to admire, before the hyper-wonky synth work of 'Shitfire' closes off the EP with a blast. Another collection of heaters for the DD&D crew.

Criso - "Bout This" - (3:44) 140 BPM
Morning High - "Talk Is Cheap" - (4:07) 140 BPM
Review: Duploc continues its high-impact run of releases with this brand new compilation drop entitled 'XLPHX', welcoming six of its regular hard-hitters inside to again deliver naught but heavyweight energy. We open up with the scuttling, metallic synthesiser squeezes of Hypho arriving on 'Left Lung', closely followed by the combined bass mastery of Wraz. & Substance on the grizzly soundscapes of 'Minotaur'. Next, Subculture unleashes the creeping, super-eerie arrangements of 'Camelot', with the more percussively-driven rhythms of Criso's 'Bout This' in hot pursuit. Finally, the gnarly horn & bass combinations of Morning High's 'Talk Is Cheap' original closes the project out in style, again showcasing just why Duploc are on top of the dubstep tree.

Review: For us, there is no denying that N-Type's legendary Wheel & Deal imprint has become one of the true benchmarks for quality within dubstep, celebrating their 100th official release with a face melting compilation. Featuring an array of top class guests, including Solidstates & Riko Dan, Roklem & Sebalo, Sepia, Lost, Grawinkel and more, this jumps straight into the top dubstep drops of the year category for us. With so many heavy hitting originals featured across this 22 track landscape, it's hard to pick our highlights, but the sumptuous sub & drift work of Kampah's 'Ryder' and the system-smashing bass notation of 'Chained' from Azotix would be the two immediate front runners. Congratulations to N Type and all involved on such an awesome achievement.

Mikrodot - "Sun God VIP" - (3:46) 140 BPM
Review: Few things can excite us as much as a new Duploc compilation, but a Duploc compilation of VIP releases, now that's a treat we will stand up for. Featuring a vibrant collection of 10 brain-busting reworks, we see some of the label's most popular tracks given a lick of 2024 paint, with heavyweights such as ENiGMA Dubz, Leo Cap, Wraz., Grawinkel, and more returning in style. The whole project packs as much punch as one could want across ten tracks, with the clear standout remixes including Mikrodot's nostalgia-inducing ruckus in 'Sun God VIP', next to the system-buckling bass slams of 'Amunjica VIP' from RWB. Top work as always.

Review: Sneaker Social Club unveils Ivy Lab's latest offering deepening the duo's evolution from their drum and bass roots. Comprised of Gove Kidao and Jon Fogel, this Mild EP, born from a purposeful break in 2023 to experiment freely in the studio, presents a potent mix of jungle and drum and bass influences, intertwined with footwork elements and Ivy Lab's unique sound design. Tracks like "Look Away" and "N.V.T 01" showcase their knack for combining rugged bass weight with innovative production techniques, while "Kik Bak" delivers an acutely angled, pitched-up rap attack to further galvanise their radical sound.

Review: The 1985 team have consistently delivered a top notch array of both neurotic D&B flavours and lethal dubstep collections, with this latest offering from Cesco being another great addition to their 140 arm. First up, 'GITP', is an anthemic opener, taking a super catchy vocal line and layering it with silky synthetic magic, before Bidl joins the party on 'Overdue', a behemoth-like bounce through gnarly reeses and fragrant low ends. Next, a more juke-inspired switch up as 'Up The Place' unloads high energy drum rolls and more vocal slices, before Hamdi touches down for a ferocious collaboration in 'Swing King', a final bulbous barge to close things off in style.

Review: The White Peach banner has long been recognized as a home to all things abstract and sonically outrageous, with this latest helping on mind-melting goodness coming to us from the one and only MOREOFUS. First up, it's time to batten down the hatches as the explosive synth work of 'Likesss' gives us a seriously sizzly introduction, followed by the jittering synth squeezes and widening delays of 'Outcasts'. Next, crunching bass notation continues to run riot across the more metallic soundscapes of 'Lost', with 'Menace' then giving us a spicy closer, focussing on more South American rhythms and tempo patterns, with some glittering vocal essence layered on top for good measure.

Review: Around the world in 12 wubs; Alix Perez's superlative 1985 continues to dig deeper and deeper into our psyche with the third volume of their faultless Atlas VA series. As always, the tempos are set to flexible as we slide and glide between the style and speeds courtesy of some incredible names... Cesco brings some proper dark UKG on 'Superstealth', Sir Hiss gets angular with the electroid funk of 'Shower Man Time', Visages go all slinky and futurist on 'Margit' while the bossman Perez and GLXY link up for something truly sexy and soulful with 'Green Lane'. All this and so much more, from Rockwell & Scepticz to Settle Down to Eprom, this is yet another exceptional adventure from the 1985 crew.

Review: What a year it has already been for the DUPLOC collective. A crew that has done more than almost any to uphold and push the future of dubstep forward, both as a label and as a general entity. This latest drop sees them pull together this enormity of their 'BLXCK TXPES' releases for one almighty collection, bringing together the likes of Oxossi, Ternion Sound, Wraz, ENiGMA Dubz, Hypho and many other titan-weight producers for possibly the most loaded dubstep drop in recent years. Although previously released, it's fair to name a few highlights, including the super jittery subs of Roklem & Sebalo's 'Shake The System', the bulbous bass bounces of Lost's 'Level Up' and of course, the authentic sounds of Hamdi with his generational smasher 'Skanka'.

Featuring the likes of The Widdler, Roommate, Pushloop, Jafu and many more heavyweight names, this is a compilation that hits the mark across so many levels, with its variation being a primary factor. The initial standouts on first full listen for us, would have to include the scattered drum taps of Khromi's awesome 'Loki' VIP mix, next to the super dubwise atmospherics of Jafu's 'Budder' original. Top work across the board!

'Raw Flavour' says it all; a blistering head-rearranger with a rasping bassline and flips into springy breakbeat it's the perfect combo between the rougher UK style and the more cosmic European licks. Deeper into the EP we're immersed in a sea of powerful Waeys flavoured contrast as SOLAH joins the mix with the lush jazzy title track '10,000', 'B.B' goes full grizzly roller mode and P4VAN joins in on 'Vision' for a heavyweight dubstep finale. 10,000 reasons to be happy.

Review: As always with the now infamous 1985 Music imprint, they have assembled the great and good to explore the darker realms of electronic dance music, primarily focussing on dubstep and neurotic drum and bass flavour through this fabulous new 'Atlas' compilation. The names involved are pretty mind-blowing with a roster including the likes of Alix Perez, Drone, Headland, Foreign Concept, Safire, DRS and many more heavyweight names. The entire project has a touch of finesse and musical class about it, from the beautifully processed drum clanks of 'Nibiru' from Visages to the stunning vocal processing of 'Do Me No Good' from Nymfo. There really isn't a low point to this project with the sweeping soundscapes and electronic destruction of Deft's 'Scars' original being a real high point for us!

Review: As ever, the fire of the 1985 banner continues to blaze strong, this time welcoming the explosive sounds of HIJINX inside, delivering a scintillating four track sizzler, dripping in original electronic flavour. We open up with the slower-paced, moody sub slides of 'Danger', a gnarly initiation into HIJINX's unique take on the dubstep spectrum, followed by the earth shattering twists of 'Swarm', a serious, synth-driven slam. Next, Cesco joins the party for the slightly swampier bass notation of 'Attention', before the title track 'Macabre', gives us a moody slink through more eerie backdrops and pulsing synth stabs, closing off this masterclass in real style.

Review: It's always exciting to see a new drop from the White Peach crew, a label in the 140 space that has continued to innovate and showcase the best new dubstep and grime talent. This time around, Kali kicks off this new drop with the wonky melodic slams and minimal drum textures of 'Scurvy', before 'Sober' brings some nostalgic glitchy goodness to the table. From here, more oldy-worldy melodies as the eerie sonic twitches of 'Stripey T-Shirt' float into view, with the more purple inspired soundscapes and super choppy drum designs of 'Cop Something' then bringing the project to a very tidy closer.

Review: Mikrodot has arrived in serious style with this latest four track EP, as expected, delivering naught but top quality dubstep music to the FatKidOnFire imprint. We open up in a slightly softer zone as 'Girl From Twin Cities' gives us a smokey soundscape, dripping in beautiful pad designs and subtle arpeggios, before lethal LFO grinds are unleashed on 'Ember'. Next, 'Enlightenment' fuses drifting, organic drum crunches with subtle subs to match, before the more exploratory bass designs and stripped back drum arrangements of 'Repressed'; give us a tasty closing act.

Whatever You Need - (5:09) 174 BPM
Monty & Visages - "Polar Wind" - (5:17) 174 BPM
Review: Few producers have carved out a production signature as twisted and unique as Monty, and the Toulouse-based artist is back on his home imprint of 1985 with another absolute percy of an EP. It's just as diverse as the others, and F4DE moves from jagged dancefloor rollers through to dubstep destruction and deep, distinct liquid sounds. The title tune smacks of previous conquest 'Quest', and its hugely complex array of interlocked sounds ooze sophistication in a manner that's befitting its clubland persona. 'Righteous' is a monster of a 140 track and you can smell the blood from the off, as a foreboding introduction leads you down the path of no return, straight into the belly of the beast. More minimal force follows on 'SVP' feat. Icicle, before two liquid cuts round off the lineup; we especially love the deliberate, purposeful bassline of 'Whatever You Need'. Sensational.

Review: So at this point in time, it's hard to imagine Alix Perez making a stale tune, as he lands here on the wonderful 1985 music for another twisted collection of heaters. We kick this one off with a look at the spooky overtones and warbling synthesizer growls of 'Ravana', before the shivering LFO designs and glitchy melodic plucks of 'Lifeline' stutter into play. Next, 'Post-Mortem' arrives with more lethal reese bass action driving the stripped back drumwork forward in a blaze of system energy, before rounding off with the catchy arpeggiator flexes of 'Ends' alongside Headland. What a project this is!

Review: It's always a good day when we see new music landing from the legendary 1985 Music team, who continue to push some of the most exciting and experimental electronic sounds out there right now. This latest four track collection kicks off with founder and sonic mastermind: Alix Perez unleashing a bulbous display of gnarly steppers energy on 'VTRN', jam-packed with sliding LFO's and intricate drum designs, followed by the stuttered rhythms and delicately designed percussive layers of 'Shush' from HIJINX, which also packs a seriously bassy punch to match. The don Ebb then touches down with another chilling creation in 'Ill Rest', maneuvering horrorcore soundscapes and luminescent bass sweeps, before the sizzling reesey tones and clunky drum work of Epoch's 'Beastmode' round the EP off with some serious finesse. Exceptional work as per!

Review: It's not outlandish to suggest that a collaborative display from both Alix Perez and Headland, two of the most innovative in the game, would cause a serious riot. Across eight tracks of genuine sonic wizardry, we explore the deepest and darkest realms of electronic sound design, from the murky synthesiser players of both 'Mirage' Parts 1 & 2, alongside the earth-shattering sub squelches of 'Shuriken' and mind-numbing rhythmic approach of '1024'. It's a truly wondrous collection, pushing the boundaries of sound design to entirely new realms, with our highlights including the uniquely designed flutters of 'Coco', the gut punching subs of 'Elk's Point', the unique rhythmic jolts of 'Hellion' and of course 'The Grove' in all of it's breathy beauty.

Review: It's always an exciting thing to witness a new 1985 bombshell land in the store, with this monstrous four track display from some of the most vibrant names in 140 being no exception to that. First up, the blobby warbles and siren-like synthesiser melodies of Ebb's 'Corrosive Soul' arrive with a major bag of oomph, giving us a swampy swinger to kick off proceedings. Next, label maestro Aliex Perez unleashes a sub-heavy warbler in 'Pulsate', pushing any speakerbox to it's low end limit, before Headland re-ignites the party flavour with the slower paced glitchy gulps of 'Guillotine' for a major sonic switch up. Finally, Samba gets busy with a gnarly piece of gristle as 'Six To Six' lets fly a gnarly combination of synths and drum slaps, rounding off the project with a weighty finish.

Review: We are absolutely loving the direction that the legendary Alix Perez has been taking recently, driving his uniquely techy production style into the dubstep scene with fantastic results. This latest project on 1985 music is the perfect showcase of just how good it can be, kicking off with the eerie atmospheric sweeps and gnarly bass excursions of the title track 'Last Rites'. Next, the engulfing subs and classic vocal fx sampling of 'Deep Six' burst onto the scene before the stripped back bass tones and impactful reverberations of 'Spooked' touch down. Review: When you see both The Bug & Ninja Tune involved in a release these days, there is an instant expectation of greatness, due to both their catalogues and history as musical entities. Therefore, this brand new album from The Bug entitled 'Fire' has a lot to live up to. Right from the off we can see that The Bug has taken the project in entirely his own direction, firstly by recruiting some of the most popular MC's to grace grime over the last decade, including FFSWhyThough?, Irah, Manga St Hilaire & more, displaying their unique vocal talents over the industrial introspective sound design behind them. It's safe to say that The Bug is in his own unique lane when it comes to sonic creativity, from the raucous, rapidfire drum punches of 'Hammer' alongside Flowdan, to the explosive reverberations of 'Clash' alongside Logan. There is a truly individual approach to this album, going no holds barred in exploring distortion and dissonant harmony with some incredible results, our favourites of which include the treacherous twists 'War', featuring the 'Nazamba', alongside two masterful poetic pieces with Roger Robinson, who recites a couple of awesome verses on both 'The Missing' and 'The Fourth Day'. This is definitely one you need to let yourself explore over time, allowing your ears the process the carnage in their own way.

Review: Two stone cold Coki/DMZ classics from the golden 2007s. The rapid flow of Vybz Kartel's "Emergency" is given full focus as Coki lays down subtle rolling snares and an icy leads with enough space for the Kartel's strong characters. Coki's famous shake-up of Mavado, meanwhile, is known to all; far-away bass groans, ricochet snares and elements so cosmic they still sound futuristic almost 10 years later. Review: To start the year off with a bang the Deep Dark & Dangerous crew have pulled out all the stops with this latest drop, welcoming the enigmatic production mastery of Hypho inside for a sizzling six track showdown. The Manchester veteran firstly launches 'Access Denied', a crunchy steppers delight, unleashing tidy drum processing and hard hitting bass action, before Rakjay arrives with a typically tidy vocal addition of 'That Vibration', a swampy slap that will turn any dance to a ruckus. Next, Donnie Danko jumps aboard for the haunted backdrops and lethal low-ends of 'Voodoo Ish', with the bubbling melodic jolts and subtle subby warbles of 'Dingle Bat' following in close pursuit. To round off, two more heavyweight hitters, with the wonky marches and dubby delays of 'Wrong Turn' leading the way before Megumi arrives on 'The End' for a sumptuous soundscape display, giving us a look into Hypho's more emotional side for a signature send off.

"Cross Polarity" sees an endlessly shifting bassline slipping and sliding between evolving drum patterns before diving naked into a deep pool of ageless elements that's deeper than a late night whiskey with Hawkin. J:Kenzo therefore makes an explosive return with this EP as he invites four of the most unique producers out inside for a full remix drop, opening up with Boylan's system-busting rethink of 'Like A Hawk' with Flowdan, fusing breaksy drum arrangements and seriously bass manipulations from the jump. From here, Mani Festo jumps on board for another breaks-driven overhaul, this time turning 'Deadbull' into a writhing reesey monster, followed by the crunchy bass designs and electrifying synth action of MYTHM's 'Narky' twist up. Finally, Unkey delivers a fabulous rework of 'Desired State', a dripping dungeon dweller of an anthem, sweeping between potent sub growls and ear-prickling melodic taps. What a collection this is!

The range that Infernal Sounds are able to deliver is very apparent across this project from start to finish, from the otherworldly chord shimmers of Conzi's 'Drift' to the more sublow synthesiser sweeps of 'Executioner' from Blottarz and all the way back to the intricate percussive mastery of Bisweed's 'By My Side'. We open up with 'Galactic', an erratic combo of sleek & slimy LFO bass notation with unpredictable drum rhythms in toe, followed by a more skippy 2-stepping texture in 'Argon'. Things get super glitchy next as 'Alcubierre' delivers a mind numbing box of sonic tears and rips, with both the stuttered drum funks of 'Lightyears' and more syncopated rhythmic designs of OZ's 'Alcubierre' remix then signing the EP off. Review: The Moonshine crew have such a fantastic knack for unleashing and showcasing the best and most creative sounds in new school dub music, with this wicked new three-tracker from EchoBoy being a great example of that in action. We begin with the bulbous bass LFO sweeps and dubwise vocal delays of the official Jahova remix, of course featuring Danny Red & The Herb at the same time. We begin with a serious piece of 140 weight as the drippy percussive plucks and hard hitting bass tones of 'Nada' come together for a tumultuous introductory original. Review: We're lucky we grasp a release a year from Karma's gnarly paws. But when we do, we always pay attention. Here are three reminders why. "Terrorist" wades into the fray with pneumatic beats that are reminiscent of Mezzanine-era Massive Attack. Foggy, misty and laced with a crucial Reggae vocal sample, it has a tsunami-like effect through a big system as waves of dubspace wash over the crowd. "Cha" continues the pneumatic rhythm feels. But this time with a persistent techno-like 4x4 that's wrapped in tight layers of warped subs. "Vacant Mind" neatly counters the energy of "Cha" with a pensive slo-mo march into the foggy void. All elements and textures woozily working together to create somnambulant momentum, it's Karma at his most meditative. Already sold out on limited vinyl, this is a seriously key release.

Hypho does the business with a properly gritty instrumental creation, driving forward with hypnotic tripletted bass stabs and churning synthetic layers doing the business, with a combination of harsh vocal slides and intense lyricism then adding an extra level of enjoyment to the table. Played by: Mentha, Alert
Review: One of New Zealand's most outstanding dubstep producers Akcept has the honour to follow up heavyweights DBridge and Nomine on Youngsta's very own Sentry Records. The Tempa-affiliated legend established his record label earlier this year and is dedicated to present nothing but the finest content spanning across from different genres and styles he truly loves. Nevertheless this next and third instalment, due to release on the 6th of October 2017, holds down two brilliant 140 bpm clashers once again. Both "Dreader Than Dread", a rather dub influenced single, as well as "Howl" which covers the lower end, are a legitimate and respectable nod to the soundsystem culture.

Review: Have a word... Youngsta's launched a brand new vinyl-only label and DBridge launches it. Need we say more? Both "Fashion Dread" and "Digital Dread" are Darren White at his darkest and most stately - elephantine production, moody and misty and ultimately soaked in beautifully warm bass, both cuts have been doing the rounds on dubs for almost two years and have been in demand since Youngsta debuted them. Simply massive.

Smokers Club - (3:18) 70 BPM
Hypho - "Akanum" - (3:46) 93 BPM
Chef Boyarbeatz - "SELECTAH" - (4:27) 70 BPM Hot
Review: The run that the Manuka brand has been on over the last 2 years has been nothing short of excellent, with this latest offering from head honcho: Hypho and the explosive production techniques of Chef Boyarbeatz giving us three new spicy rollers. First up, an absolute devastator of an anthem from the pair as 'Smokers Club' sees a lethal combination of writhing LFO sweeps and hard hitting sublines deployed for a legendary combination. Next, Hypho steps out on solo duty for the warbling swampy subs of 'Akanum', giving us a slightly different feeling, before the dungeon-heavy epic of 'SELECTAH' sees Chef Boyarbeatz deliver a spine-tingling display. Very tidy indeed.

Review: The abstract production mastery of The Widdler has long been seen as a beacon of creativity by the team here at JunoDownload, with this latest offering on Sentry taking things back to the roots. We open up with the droning LFO's and dubwise drum work of 'Running Red', before the more metallic percussive switch ups of 'Zero Days' and silky sub designs of 'Hakkaido' give us an eastern inspired sweeper. From here, the swampy LFO slams of 'South Street' and crunching drumlines of 'Barracks' see us out in style, once again showcasing why The Widdler is held in such high acclaim by so many.

Supernova - (4:10) 105 BPM
Review: It's been a short while since TMSV last touched down, but boy has he been saving up some juice, as this explosive new four tracker delivers a truly unique feeling of futurism and rhythmic skill. We open up with the lung-busting sub bounces of 'Kaleidoscope', a monumental roller that sets the tone for the rest of the EP perfectly, before 'The Ritual' then amps up the percussive element for a truly vibrant tribal bounce, dashed with aquatic synthetic slides to enhance the tracks texture. Next, a slower roll out on 'Rave CTRL', a drippy bubbler that focuses on violent bass growls and catchy vocal sampling, before the heavily syncopated approach of 'Supernova' then closes the EP off with some grizzly tripletted goodness.

Prism - (4:13) 140 BPM
Sector - (3:29) 66 BPM
Blowdown - (4:09) 140 BPM Hot
Review: With dubstep's superiority reigning strong in 2023, it already looks like this year is going to follow a similar path as we check out this sumptuous collection from TMSV, joining forces with NL for a smokey three tracker. We open up with the bulbous bass notation and aquatic synthetic structures of 'Prism', setting a swampy tone from the off with its unique approach to synth design. Next, the slightly slower paced 'Sector' delivers a gut punch of original bass design and glitchy atmospheric pressure, overlaying scuttling digital percussion with scraping sub sweeps for a truly unique textural overload. Finally, the jittering LFO stabs and heavily reverberated backdrops of 'Blowdown' brings us to a close, finalising a very solid start to the year for TMSV.

Numbers Go Up - (5:28) 138 BPM
Red Hook - (6:36) 140 BPM
Three Sided - (5:03)
Review: The fatties at FKOF are genuinely firing right now. Eight releases deep, each one builds respectfully on the last, and naturally this four-track treat from Tuba bossman Bakir is a whole new level. "Elefante" sums up the sonic richness and boldness in a jiffy thanks to its impeccable drum production and arrangement. Throw in some horns (probably played by Bakir himself) and a soft skank and you're putty in its hands. Moving on, "Numbers Go Up" deftly plays between aggy and techy thanks to its subtle but dominant persistence, "Red Hook" is the moody (yet mildly meditative) industrial dub stomper while "Three Sided" closes the show on a flip-switching deep jungle flex. May the fires at FKOF keep on burning - the scene needs more creativity like this.

Review: Russian ragamuffinski Steppa Style bumps up to Totally Dubwise with the follow-up to 2014's still-toasty See The World. Once again it's a vibrant church that's all rooted by reggae and digidub cornerstones. From the rising skanks and gutsy harmonis of "Musical Murder" to the bouncy soundsystem-primed bass of "Ready We Ready" via the rougher rapid-fire flow of "Road", he sets the scene perfect for an immense jungle skank-out for the second half of the album: the savage spitfire feels of "Raggamuffinski", the Aphordite style jumps of "Rolling Stone" and the Chopstickesque party ragga jam "Step Aside" The vibey list goes on and on.

Review: Within the ever-expanding dubstep community, FatKidOnFire are definitely seen as one of the front-running brands in modern times, boasting a very well supported network and roster. This latest offering sees them bring in the talents of 1137 across four epic steppers originals. The first of these goes by the name 'Can't Escape It' and is a moody roller, setting the pace for the rest of the project perfectly. Next up, the minimalist sub spreads of 'Undefeated', which rolls smoothly into the satanic spaces and atmospheric dips of 'Terror Dub'. We then finish up the project strongly as we dip into 'Engulfed'. This one is a peach of a creation, rattling between electronic utterings and lo-fi drum designs, tying things up nicely.
